Vampires Attacking Cities

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:31 pm

It was a werewolf skinwalker. And really? I just used vampiric grip normally. Must be a bug. Seems like I'm always getting the buggy versions.

I think Vagar's are the highest level werewolves you'll see roaming the map, skinwalkers I think,( think ! ) are the second or third highest level. As for the V-grip I didn't do anything different, I didn't have Sarena with me so my powers where not nurfed or anything but it never picked the werewolf up like the human NPC's it just stunned him, which is how I killed him, by stun locking him. Maybe mine is bugged

Has anyone ever said that vampiric grip worked on werewolves? I always thought it didn't. Because I remember trying to affect Sinding and it did nothing. :ermm:

I just assume it worked because that's what the fangers always fall back on when faced with a knowledgeable werewolf such as myself in a " werewolf Vs Vampire lord " threads. So I just thought mine was bugged out and not working properly. What happens for you ? Do you pick them up or do you just stun them ?

Well I don't fight that many werewolves. The only two I can think of Sinding and werewolf skinwalker. Werewolf skinwalker dude I was able to pick up, Sinding on the other hand was a different story. Guess Sinding had some good magic resistance :P

Hmm I think I'll go test it out on the werewolves in the silver hand. They should've respawned by now.

Edit: Vampiric grip didn't work on them >=/

Hmmm perhaps it's dependent on the level of the werewolf, I would venture a guess that Sinding is a higher level then the Vagar werewolf. Which means that V-grip probably wouldn't work on a player werewolf either :bunny:

don't really understand this topic...I have been playin dlc for some time now but didn't really see that a group of vampires would attack some major city, maybe I found some fight going on inside the city, in the woods, or somewhere else betwen downguards and vampires but that was that...vampires are mostly into the caves, in wilds and so on...afcourse you have some radiant misions to kill vampire or downguard scout's (depending on which side are you), and maybe some of them are hidden among the regular people, but that is that...

-Sigh- still haven't met the mysterious traveler or a wild werewolf. That's it when the new patch comes I'm going all VL and no fast travel. :stare: I'm going to find this mysterious traveler and kill a wild werewolf.

I do not believe those who joined the Vampire faction will get any mysterious traveler's (could be wrong but Braggen never managed to get one), you need to join the Dawnguard faction to get the better challenges.

Interesting encounter in Markarth:

So I go to Markarth for some reason and to the left of the main gate a vampire attack has spawned. The guards and townsfolk are battling a master vampire next to Silverblood Inn. (One of the smelter workers died, btw) I charge over to help when I see across the river two death hounds over by Cihna Mine attacking some other NPCs. So I try to manuver onto the stair case by the forge to get a clear shot at them when suddenly up pops a mysterious traveler. So I whip out my sword ready to deal with him when all of the sudden the Vigilant of Stendar dialogue traps me asking about the abondoned house, WHICH IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN! At that point I of course exited the dialogue immediately and dealt with the mysterious traveler. What I should have done is killed the damn Vigilant!

Getting dialogue trapped in the middle of a battle is annoying, but at least I got my revenge once. After getting the blessing of the sky I went off into the wildnerness when a bear pops up, immediately followed by the fugitive with the stolen loot. Well since I have this nice blessing, the bear ignores me and whales on the fugitive while he is telling me "snitch and I'll kill you." I am just sitting there watching this bear murder this NPC while he is caught in a dialogue. Revenge is sweet!

Complete the MQ to make them almost disappear
Apparently its a bug if they do not disappear after the main quest. From what I understand they should stop attacking cities.

so I have no idea how far into the Dawnguard MQ story I am but using the nexus mod amulet. I have only encountered the Traveler. Each time I do its ALWAYS in whiterun after I fast travel there. I'm able to identity him right away and kill him before he has a chance to attack anything. So far so good.

Just to be safe even when done the MQ I plan on keeping the amulet on. Seems to be working. The traveler has appeared roughly 5 times in about 15 or so fast travels to Whiterun. Have not seen any other vampires attacking cities and towns. But I'm staying away from everything until the MQ is over.

I never fast travel, too many interesting things happen on the roads to miss out on. I have only bumped into 2 sets of 2 werewolves, Vagar werewolves or something like that and I've only bumped into the mysterious traveler once. But I have killed too many legendary dragons to count, weird that dragons appear more in my game then the vampire attacks  One would think the randomization would span across both dragons and vampire attacks evenly, but not in my case
They are called "Werewolf Vargr" leveled werewolves. The player must be lvl 38 or above to encounter them, according to UESP.

I can vouch for that as truth. I have seen no Mysterious Travelers on my VL playthrough, but at least a few on my DG characters.

If you block out the sun, that will change immediately.

Were you actually in a town when you blocked out the sun? Braggen who has finished the vampire side got an attack on Dawnstar while I was working on his Vampire perks, he only went near the Dawnstar Sanctuary for a few seconds to manage that. Only a guard was lost, and I learned my lesson. Perks are all done and I was never that fond of wandering around Skyrim as a Vampire Lord anyway.

I went back to my Orc wimp who at level 18 finally was found by the Dawnguard recruiter, seems if you do not stay still long enough you can avoid getting the quest. Rork refused to get involved anyway, so I am waiting to see how long before he gets an attack. He was up to level 21 before I accidentally wiped out some of his saves the first time, and had not got an attack. The vampires attack, he will rush off moaning to the Dawnguard, otherwise he is busy.

Edit
Hmmm
An update is available for the Xbox 360, fancy that.

I completed the MQ last night and fast traveled to whiterun which is the only place I ever encountered the traveler. He didn't appear but I may have "accidently" mistook Nazeem for him and now he's dead haha. But as I mentioned I was also using the amulet from Nexus. Guess we'll see. If I never see the traveler again then I know I should be safe from vampires appearing, other then Serana who refuses to be cured.

It's a pretty cool feature, and it's realistic given the fact that Dawnguard is about vampires becoming more of a threat. I wouldn't have an issue with NPCs getting killed by them if new shopkeepers would eventually appear as Beth had stated before Skyrims release (at least I heard that was going to be a feature, maybe I'm wrong).

But as someone else said if it really bugs you, just mark certain NPCs as essential.

Im doing the Thieves Guild Quest at the moment including the jobs for Vex and Delvin, so im in and out of the cities alot, and the only encounter ive had with another Vampire was out in the wilds where a mistwalker vampire was taking out the Vigilants of Stendarr, she then had the bright idea to attack me and Serena, it turned out to be her last lol,

Even when i was getting some attacks in cities doing the Vampire questline, i never had the mysterious traveler, it was a Master Vampire with a thrall or death hounds, infact i had far more Dawguard attacks, which makes sense obviously lol, but since ive wiped the leadership out, ive had none of those either.

I think the nexus mod I use is the reason I didn't get the random attacks but got the traveler instead. I only had one random attack with a vampire lord and that was in Morthal before I used the amulet from Nexus. Maybe the Traveler is scripted and thats why only he kept showing up. But since I killed Harkon, the rest better go into hiding. They will die too.

yeah could be, i dont use the mod you do, i only had about 4 or 5 vampire attacks in total, more dawnguard but most of them were outside Castle Volkihar, i was expecting alot more after reading some of the posts on here lol
