Varmint rifle : Fallout: New Vegas

Do you still use the Varmint rifle after progressing in the game? Or have you moved onto other 5.56 rifle ammo guns like the service rifle and the carbine rifle?

I sold mine immediately after finishing the tutorial actually. I regretted it for a moment but then I bought a hunting riffle and never looked back.

I used it till I got another rifle. Problem is, I forget where I got this rifle I have, but I like it. I assume I got it off a raider or some kind of enemy. Then again, it could have slipped in as a quest reward, since when ever they say something has been added, it goes by so fast sometimes I can't read it.

I barely used it in the begining. Got a Caravan Shotgun fairly early on, which I had with the 9mm, and then when I picked up a 10mm the 9 got dumped and when I picked up a Service Rifle... I'd found my two-weapon loadout. S'now a three weapon loadout with the Sniper Rifle though. :thumb:

I love the Varmint rifle! I still use it on lightly armored opponents.

I used it for a while because I put a silencer on it and couldn't find silencers for any other rifles. I moved up to a hunting rifle shortly after I got Boone and realized he could kill anything that tried to attack me, so I didn't need to sneak anymore.

i use the Ratslayer for snipeing most of the time the night-vision makes night snipein fun!!

I have no idea when i sold it, because ever since i got out of the tutorial town, it has been a bloody massacre. but i guess i hate it, it is like the light machine gun, but bolt-action and only 5 rounds per mag.

I carry a lot of weapons with me wherever I go, because that's how I roll. The Varmint Rifle is one of them, with extended mag and night scope. It doesn't do damage, it's just fun to go "hunting"

I use the Ratslayer, if that counts, because with stealth crits, it's a pretty good rifle with commonly available repair parts and ammo.

i do. its pretty damn good with a night scope, silencer, and an extended clip.

I didn't use it much. I sold it right away because i used the 9mm handgun then i found a 10mm sub. machine gun.

And its pretty easy to get a service rifle fairly early.

I used it for a while, it was okay. I dropped the use of it once I progressed a little, it now has a place on honor in my room in Novac. Once I got a service rifle I carried it around for nostalgia's sake until I got a hunting rifle.

I use the ratslayer personally, the scope and silencer get me out of some hairy situations. OH and you can find dozens of varmint rifles at BlackMountain after the "Crazy Crazy Crazy" quest, so that's good place to repair ratslayer and such.

I got rid of it a while ago. I'm level 19 right now and primarily use the Cowboy Repeater with a couple mods, .44 Magnum, Sniper Rifle, 9mm Pistol w/extended mags.. and my Service Rifle when it's not completely broken like it has been for the last couple days. lol

Get yourself the RatSlayer very nice upgrade to the Varmint Rifle, and you can use it for repair. Comes with supressor, very nice scope, and looks way cooler too

Hell my char just reached level 20 and i still carry my fully modded varmint rifle, of course i have other weapons to deal with heavy armored enemies but to quitely kill weaker enemies its still what i use, and with the jury rigger perk its even more usefull since i can repair .50 AMR with cheap varmint rifles.

Still using mine at level 10. I have the silencer on it and wish I could find the scope on a vendor again. I'll probably keep it for a while yet because I really like the iron sights on it (if you don't have the scope yet) and it works fine against unarmored targets.

I kept the varmint rifle, it's now my secondary weapon with the cowboy repeater as my primary, both are modded, varmint has an extended mag and the cowboy repeater has custom action and long tube, I liked the varmint rifle from the moment I got it, but then I've always prefered conventional weapons in the fallout series, energy weapons just don't do it for me.

I love the varmint rifle, I'm level 23 and I still use it, modded with a silencer and night scope.

With armor piercing ammo and stealth criticals I take down deathclaws and nightstalkers in five shots :homestar:

And my gun skill is 14.

Varmint rifle with the scope on it is pretty awesome at low levels. Though once you find the Ratslayer it becomes obsolete.

I'm using it right now on my current character whos level 8. I got a night scope and extended mag but the traders in goodsprings, novac, or the gun runners didn't sell the silencers. I even checked mick and ralphs...

Anyone know where I can find one for sure? I hear there is one in goosprings but I don't know where.
