Vault 34 Madness!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:39 am

Wow:

So I've blown throu 3/4 of my stock of Rad-X, Rad-Away, Stimpacks. Nearly destroyed my Space Suit (+50 Rad Resistance) and I still CANT get into the Armory.

Ive dived in both pipes and found 2 passwords from the dead techs. However, I can not find the terminal to "enter" them, I cant find the key to the Overseers Office (though I can find that door), and I can't get to the door to the Armory anyway

Any simple walk thru for Vault 34?!?

I forget exactly where I found it, but you need to pop open the Overseer office and use his terminal to open the armory. Hated this area, personally. If I hadn't had Veronica I probably would have just console commanded my way through it out of sheer hate.

The door to the armory is through the clinic; you enter the clinic by the Overseer door and cross to the other side, there's a door there.

I really really hate this level as well.

I also have Veronica with me. (how do you console thru things anyway, and what effect does her being with me have on it)?

Its like the map is 2 separate "sides". Im on the "left" side, with the Clinic. I walk around the clinic and do not see any other doors to go elsewhere.

I'm totally stuck. Ive been down some stairs to the armor before and couldnt get in, but now I cant even get back to that area (now that I have the 2nd password)

There should be a terminal in the beginning of that vault ( near the entrance) that unlocks the armory.

Update:

Wow, worst level EVER.

Finally noticed I was not "seeing" the 2nd door in the corner of the clinic, that allows access to both "halves" of the map. WOW WOW.

What a crappy level. What were the two passwords from the 2 drowned techs for? I dont remember using them.

Yeah, finally found the term that opened the armory. Tons of good loot (I sorta cheat with a Weight Mod!).

I ended up "re-routing control of the reactor" to save the Ghouls. Wish Id blown the place up, whatta crap level.

Thanks for the help guys!

One password is to pump the water out of one set of stairs so you can go through a door to another part of the level. The other is to open to door to the overseer's office.

I gotta agree that this vault was horrible. A challenge, but for the wrong reasons I think. So much constant Radiation and what seemed like randomly respawning ghouls in a game where that doesn't happen, just seemed weird and annoying.

I hated it. Bad enough ferals scared me in Fallout 3, they had to pull this crap off with ferals in a dark vault. Worst hour of my life .__.

here is what i did. i saved it before i went in with a specific save. after a LONG time of finally figuring out what to do (and many quick/auto saves) i went back to the specific save and breezed through it.

Get the 2 keycards from water, open pump from computer, go back in water zone (which should be drained) - go to overseer area and unlock armory- go back to armory.

I can't figure this one out. I have the two passwords, but that is it. There are two doors I can't get through. I have found only one working terminal, but it does not unlock anything. It has 4 items on it's list. All four gives information, nothing more. How do I get through the locked doors?

This level had me stuck for ages, it was terrible, honestly I am just going to ignore the story on my new playthrough, vault 34 was just too much, constant rads, constant ghouls and the doors are to well hidden... I dont want to go back there. Ever. Seriously terrible and destroyed any fun I was having.

Vault 34. I just walked out of there, quest incomplete because I was about to rip my 360 from its cables and throw it through my television.

Worst. Experience. Ever. I [censored] hate that place. Radiation. Glowing Ones. Radiation. Sunken corridors. Radiation. Radiation. More radiation. Still more goddamned radiation.

I love the game but I hate this [censored] vault.

There is no *easy* way through it.

this bugged out on my the first run which sent me scurrying to this thread. The terminal wouldn't open the first time it just kept saying I needed science 100 and I am not a science dude. So I reloaded from before the begining and did it over and this time the terminal opened to accept the passwords after I retrieved them. I wouldn't have need interwebs helps if it hadn't bugged the first time. Hope this helps someone.

God I just tried going through there. that place is pure hell! Had to give up after opening the armory and going down there. I dinked around too much and left myself stuck with too much rad poisoning and no more rad away. I'll have to get more and try it again later :D
I loved the chaos. I had to use everything at my disposal, awesome place.

This is definitely one of the toughest dungeons I've been in. Worth the effort from what you get in the armory.

I just want to reiterate that while this place DOES svck, for a gun-user it is very much worth it. The armory is an amazing, amazing place.

The armoury is nice, I don't mind that it's a radioactive maze but what is annoying is that when I opt to save the trapped family nothing happens. Are they long dead? Did they make it out?

This was like a time limit vault because of the constant rads ... im on hardcoe and thought it was great and very worth it for the end reward and i think boone is a super mutant or has a large stash of radaway in his pocket he's not willing to share :glare:

You guys seem to be having problems with it. I blew threw Vault 34 in about 15 minutes. I had about 100 Rad Aways, and the Space Suit. It wasn't that difficult. :celebration:

Ok like some of you i had problems with Vault 34, but it wasnt really the radiation or the Ghouls that bothered me. It was getting the armory open.

1. The radiation isnt that bad.. I didnt need the space suit at all.. Rad X gives you 50 rad resist well for me and i never had a problem, there were times i got up to around 300 rads on me during ghoul fights but after poping 2 rad aways it went down. I used maybe 7 rad aways in the whole vault, and maybe 4 rad x's and i never used the Radiation suit. People coplained of lack of radiation, or lack of use of rad x and rad away in FO3 i did also... This vault is one of many area's that require the use of rad aways and stuff... Which i liked.. Ive played maybe 20 hours now and i had to use all my rad aways, i only found like 15 of them in the whole game

2. Ok if you dont have a follower like Veronica for example i admit that place would be damn near impossible.. If it wasnt for Veronica and her wearing the t-51b power armor i got from the dead brotherhood soldiers on that quest to find the scout party's i wouldnt have been about to handel more then 2-3 glowing ones at a time..

3. The main problem i have with the vault was figuring out how to open the doors.. They kept saying need keys ect.. I didnt think the computer would open them instead so i was looking for keys on dead ghouls instead... After i figured it out it was pretty easy.. Also if you had the rebreather like i did from the Boomers those sunken area's were easy...

4.. Ghouls didnt spawn on there own at random... If you noticed while going through ghouls were behind glass windows in areas you couldnt get too... When you opened a door or walked in a certain area those ghouls would break through.. Thats why there were "random" spawning ghousl.... I thought the same thing.. why are these ghouls coming outa no where... After i got to the reactor room and heared the glass break i relised thats where they were coming from... They broke through the windows

The good things in the end are, you get a ton of guns and ammo... The other good thing was killing those Ghouls emptied me of ammo and food/water and supplies overall... I was getting pretty heavy carrying tons of bullets and stuff... After that vault i lost like 60 pounds of stuff... but gained like 100 pounds of guns after lol

Well, 'Vault Dwellers' didnt spawn at random, but usually a 'Vault Security Officer' would spawn behind you, and it scared the [censored] out ot me every time :bonk:

Well now that you mention it, i do remember 2 Vault Security Officers being right behind me after i turned around lol... Oh well.. he got a couple .308 hollow point bullets in his brain.. I found hollow point bullets the best way to kill the ghouls, using that one rifle you get from Camp Mccarin. I forgot its name but uses .308's

I'm not a big fan of Vault 34 I don't feel like wasting Radaway and whatever is in that vault isn't worth me getting killed by radiation.
