Hello fellow TES fans,

As we know Bethesda released the nutorious 1.2 patch and stated that this would resolve the texture streaming issue.
Well, it's clear to a lot of users that this isn't the case at all.
Strangly however, Bethesda is keeping it's foot down that this problem has been resolved and for some reason wont acknowledge that this issue remains. See statement below:

To be honest, most of the texture stuff I'm seeing post patch either relates to normal caching based on how the game works or are situations where people are generally unhappy with the textures as they're intended.

If there are additional changes made, we'll note them in the release notes.

Thanks for playing Skyrim.

I thought it would be a great idea if all the user post their problems here so Bethesda cant ignore this problem any longer so we can enjoy the game as it was intended (graphics wise of course).

We have to keep this thread up for Bethesda to see, because I dont know if they are legit in their ignorance or they are trying to wipe this under the carpet.

So here goes:

* Still having the problem, both playing from disc and HDD. Textures look low-res and their high-res counterparts dont load in. This results in bland hands, armor, trees, rocks etc.

So fellow TES fans, UNITE!

I'll bite. There's a few of these already but we'll see where this goes.

Can't really gauge whether or not 1.2 fixed the texture issue because 90% of my skyrim time is on the xbox that doesn't have hdmi. The one that does looks great on and off hdd.

I get a flickering eyeball at the character creator screen when I choose the white eye. Not important but may lead to something that is.

I cannot verify the resistence issue because, oddly enough, the first time I encountered a frost dragon (or anything substancial enough to scratch me with elemental damage) was just after this patch and it was on my breton character anyway. Got destroyed but if it is bug related I'm not [censored]ing because it was one of the longest and most exciting fights I've encountered in a while.

In the mean time I've reverted back to 1.1 and am contempt with the bugs it comes with. I'm afraid to continue on with my 1.2 characters out of fear that whatever fix follows may render those saves unplayable. I'm confident Bethesda will address this to the best of their abilities and look forward to what the next patch and DLC brings.

On a more serious note ...
Textures look bad when playing Both from disk and hdd. I played long enough on each for the textures to be cached, if that was the issue.

Also, I've had two high res textures pop in then back out when I reloaded to see If it was permanent. Specifically elven gloves and the enchanting table . I don't have pics but I know how this game is supposed to look and trust me, the patch isn't working for me.

It looks fine for me now, my gloves arn't low res anymore and windhelm looks great finally, I haven't seen any low res textures since the patch, but the patch broke a lot of other things, its like I have to choose between textures and magic resistance, why can't I have both!

Don't do that. Don't try to minimize this issue. I've been hit by the loss of magic resistence, loss of interaction with some NPCs and broken quests but this graphics issue is easily the worst one for me. It absolutely ruins the game.

Anyways, there are several threads on the issue so I'm not so sure that this one is necessary. From what people have posted, the issue has certainly not been completely solved. There are a wide variety of accounts regarding this issue. Some people never had the issue before or after 1.2. Others had it before 1.2 and don't have it now. Others (like myself) did not have it before 1.2 and now they have it. Yet others have had it before and after the patch. The prescribed fixes work for some and not for others. In other words this issue hasn't been solved.

I can tell you from the standpoint of someone who has played the game in its full glory and then experienced this issue with poor textures; it's a night and day difference. I can understand that there are a lot of issues that need to be fixed but people really need to stop minimizing this issue. It's a total deal-breaker.

I'm with you bro, this shouldnt been put under the carpet like most of the companies do when they have issues blaming other things with their technical languages... in the end we love the elder scrolls, we bought this game to enjoy the story and this work of art... we payed for it and we should enjoy it to the fullest even if we chose to install it... yeah Bethesda Ive been playing the game from the HD sience the end.. looked cool... but it could look AWESOME like you promised US and like weve been seeing sience your videos of gameplay and first screenshots.. please... we're not asking for something impossible... just make everything look at its fullest.. even with HD... and that it REALLY WORKS... that's all....

tell you something... I have it installed like i said... I just played it a lil with the bow and magic with no gloves on to see my nords hairy and strong arm... ok it seemed ok... I know the PC graphics are better than the 360 but it was ok for what i compared on the internet images with the "fixed" patch... so people say that directly from the DVD looks better... i experimented deleting the game from the HD to see... played it directly from the DVD... it took ages from menu to menu to load things... when i put out the bow.. and aimed to see my nords arm... and used magic.. the hair was done... without even going to the salon to get a full makeup work... and it looked LOW RES.. with many other things.... so.... "FIX"??? I DONT SEE ANY... so im installing it again to see if its gonna look better that way... next time ill upload 2 images comparing that so you can see... people please dont shut ur mouth if you care.. our fellow gamer here is taking its time to try and do something for all of us... at least try to help him a bit more, is for our own good

I just took this photo while experimenting.. just installed again the game to the HD... and noticed this thing on the nords arm.. see how "cuts" in 2 the arm? and it looks LOW RES and then "normal" again where the cut ends... It didnt look this way before deleting it... Im going to delete it and install it again and then see what happens...

ok so I continued my experiment... that image is from actual gameplay directly from the DVD, as I just deleted the game from the HD... at the beggining it looked like the first image of the other post.. after opening the menu and selecting the sword... well.. you see how the resolution turned... it looks horrible now... so I'm installing it again to the HD to see if NOW with some luck the game improves... Bethesda I really hope you see this as this proves that the patch 1.2 doesnt works at all if wer'e talking about the textures.... I'll upload another image if needed now that Im about to install the game again to the HD... if the game still looks bad ill just mention it...

I'm all for this thread. My game ran fine for 2 days and then the texture bug reared its head and it hasn't been the same since. I still have alot of low res wood textures on tree, tables warbrobes etc. Also many of the weapons and armor are still very low res for me not to mention snow textures which really are worse then oblivion's.

Answer this for me Bethesda. If you say that the textures are fine then are you basically admitting that you have somehow lost so much developing skill as a company that you cant make snow textures to at least match those of a previous game you released 5 years ago? Same goes for the wooden furniture textures too. Hope the rest of the community keeps this up and doesn't let you simply ignore this problem because its far from fixed as you claim.

Ok guys.. sorry if im annoyin but the creator of this post wanted us to do something and Im trying to.... OK installed the game again.... it looks "normal" like the first photo I uploaded... no low res (at least not as horrible as the second photo i uploaded wich makes me remember the N64) so after all this I'll keep playing to see what happens... hope some of you can show something too...

I'm playing off the HDD and the textures have improved fairly well. Snowy rocks up close still look terrible but I can just ignore that. Before my characters hands looked like a blurry mess, now they look pretty good, I assume as intended. Most of what I pay attention too has been improved. Overall 1.2 fixed 80% of the texture problem for me.

It's interesting that you mentioned Windhelm specifically, as that location has been particularly problematic for me in regards to the texture issue. Elsewhere, encountering low-res textures is fairly uncommon - and if so, the high-res versions usually pop in a few moments later - but in Windhelm, literally every exterior texture is low-res for me. It's like walking straight into a PS2 game.

Is anyone else encountering this issue in Windhelm in particular?

I have and you are right. It does look like a ps2 game. No way in hell that they intended for Windhelm to look like that. Also the strange ''seem'' on the characters wrist is present with my copy of the game.

Overall, this game is a mess and although the quest related bugs are a big issue, without even a nice picture to look at, the dissatisfaction just rises to a level I would never expected from a TES game.

I still have them, too. I managed to fix them for a while, but then it decided to go back to the normal 'low-res' textures. Sigh...

I've noticed that some do tend to mud out every now and then.. The easiest way for me to tell is to carry a pair of scale armor gauntlets in my inventory.. every now and then they mud out, (not nearly as bad as before though.) But after awhile they'll come back into sharp focus, When they are muddy the other textures that had problems before are also muddy. But like I said, they come and go.. it doesn't seem to have anything to do with menu's anymore and I"m not sure what causes it.

Good post. I'm in the same boat as you, the pre patch texture issues never hit me, but they're certainly making up for it now (HDD and off disc). Certainly a deal breaker for me also.

What worries me most about this is, as you point out, there is so many variables that I'm concerned that it'll never get ironed out. Makes me pine for sometime last week when I was oblivious to it all....
