Very important question

It'll be just about as much fun as the jumping puzzles in Metroid Prime.

You have to bear in mind that sometimes when it comes to making games working on what appears to be a small feature can take up valuable time and resources that are better spent elsewhere in the budget. Though you can look down in previous Arkane games and see your body, this being a more "mainstream" game perhaps they chose to focus more on facial and npc world animation models than the first person playable character animations that shall hardly be seen compared.

PS - I would still like to my legs though.

yes i can see what you're getting at, i just recently replayed dark messiah. And if you watch the body motions when you're doing certain moves eg swinging swords, shooting arrows etc, some doesnt seem quite right. i can see how they would have to spend time on tweaking the animation so it fits every situation, eg, mantling and climbing, recoil from a powerful gun during standing and ducking, running while fighting, jumping, falling etc. so cool, if they have to spend time on other issues rather than this.

Except that if I look down in real life, I can see my legs.
So? Is this real life to you? Or do you substitude it so it can feel that way? I'm sorry but if you think that something as trivial as feet animation or just being able to see them in the first place will throw off your immersion or ruin your gaming experience, then clearly there is something wrong with you. It's a common problem where people don't appreciate good works of art just because something somewhere is off.

Convenient of you to completely ignore the rest of my post, wherein I explain exactly why it's a problem.

You clearly don't even understand why I think it's a problem though, and I suspect it comes from the same lack of ability to immerse yourself in the game as the guy who made the third-person thread. There's nothing "wrong" with me just because I'm aware that something can and should be better. What's "wrong" with the whole world is the vast majority of people who AREN'T, and who just accept everything they're given.

You kidding? So somehow when I stick a landing, I can see my hands but not my feet? This is just sad if true.

If you land correctly, you shouldn't be able to see your feet. If you see your feet after jumping from a story+, you've landed on your ass.

You will not see your legs while playing. You will see some great hand animations -- such as when you touch down from a vertical space.

Sad about legs... Curious about these animations.

Man, is it just me or does this game sound freaking awesome? (no sarcasm)

If you're jumping from a story+, you're going to land into a forward roll to distribute your momentum.

I've heard them talk about the mobility and maneuverability in the game on multiple occasions & they've said there is a "slide" move, would legs be visible during that animation? Don't know how you can slide & not see your legs. Other than that though, I don't really care about not having visible legs, if you're wasting time looking down at your legs you're doing something wrong.

I actually read your post and you're making a big deal out of nothing. OK, let's see...being able to see your arms is a vital indicator as to what you have equiped. Seeing your legs isn't. If you have played Deus Ex, you could lose your legs there. Why do I give that example? Because you moved slower without your and your view hight drops. But a very important thing to note here is that even with or without your legs you couldn't see them when you looked down. Why? Because you don't have to see them. You know they are there. Unless you have some brain dead logic that not seeing your legs means they don't exist. And you can argue with Mirror's Edge but I never needed to see my legs there. It isn't necessary and it isn't sad like you make it out to be. It's your own subjective opinion. Oh, and pulling that "what's wrong with world" thing proves how much you misunderstood me and that you are perceiving my argument completely wrong.

Dishonored doesn't need leg animations.

Full body visual is good when:
-Crossing a mine field WITH VERY SMALL GAPS, and interested to know how you're actually doing hah hah..
-Avoiding glass shards during stealth ala METRO 2033. However, M33 didnt use full body visuals, so don't sweat!
-Micro evading rats in some narrow alley. THIS is something I would love discussing further.
-You think it looks good or are looking for more aspects that could immerse you further as Corvo.

Full body visual isn't good if:
It takes too long syncing it with a maneuvre arsenal as wide as that of Dishonored

You just turned a discussion about freaking legs in a video game into a rant about what's wrong with the world. Relax.

We're all super impressed with your amazing ability to immerse yourself in games. However, I guess you weren't immersed in Deus Ex, Ultima Underworld, Thief, Thief 2, or a multitude of other immersive sims that lacked this minor feature, then.

As it was explained, the game has a completely simulated mantling system. The amount of animation work to make full body animations work in tandem with that system would dwarf what Dice had to do with Mirror's Edge, and they were a much larger company working with a presumably much larger budget. Arkane has always had full leg animations before, so clearly there was a reason they left them out this time.

If there is kicking then you would have to see your feet. I wonder if we can do sprint slides and how extensive the parkour is in this game. Can we vault off walls and hoist ourselves up ledges like lights in Brink?

I don't know about slides, but according to the Dishonored podcast, the game has an extremely involved mantling system that let's you climb up pretty much everything a person would reasonably be able to climb up.

Why not?
......
It did well in ARX and Dark messiah....

It's something that was discussed, but ultimately a decision made for the better of this game.

You still haven't given any real reason as to what makes it better, while regardless of any rants I may have had, I presented several points.
