Very poor detailing

Also, the only places I have found Soulgems have been around Crypts, places where mages live (whether NPCs were neutral/aggressive/friendly made no difference), and shops. Now then I will say that so far finding plenty of soulgems in these places has been easy, but they have all been Petty/Lesser soulgems so far, and few of them already have a sould trapped.

Okay, you obviously just making [censored] up now

Wait you're seriously implying that there's as many different clothings in Skyrim then in Morrowind? If that's the case then indeed there is no point in continuing the discussion O _ o

I don't know what you're going on about with torches being "missing", I picked up 6 or so from Bleak Falls. Then again, maybe I'm wrong and that's the only place that has them - I use light spells everywhere else, to save on encumberence.

Myself, I don't care about not being able to pick up useless items, because they're useless. The same goes for unopenable containers. I know that it's less immersive, but at the same time, I just can't bring myself to care that the game is missing Oblivion's 10000 useless containers that only contain calipers and shovels.

more individual items =/= more detail
especially when you consider the cookie cutter nature of previous TES games
here they actually took the time and effort to make each and every location feel unique and real as opposed to just copy pasting 300 different objects all over the place

I'll take handcrafted locations over 100 different kinds of useless junk any day

Oh there were different "expensive" and "explicit" clothes, which made oh so much difference in looks, sorry for doubting you.

It's funny how Skyrim is now getting blamed for re-using parts of the game WHEN MORROWIND DID THIS JUST AS WELL!

I played Morrowind before Skyrim was released, still love the game...but let me tell you. Those rose colored glasses over the years of me not playing (was out of action for about 2 years) really made Morrowind look gooood. The land wasn't as diversified as I thought. It's still varied, but not like I remembered. The NPC were lifeless. The evironment was lifeless. Still love the game, though. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

As for Skyrims detailing. After playing, I can say that it's much more realistic. And for a snowy province, they sure did a darned good job making the land as varied as possible.

EDIT: I just read a few post. Really, immersion ruined because a few...not most, a few (I've ran into a dozen barrel in 52 hours of gaming I couldn't loot...and I looted alot of barrels). And forks and spoons? What if nord don't use forks and spoons? They are barbaric in nature, so I would assume they would eat with their hands. Now a house full of Imperials, that's a diffrent story...but then again, this is Skyrim. It's not like the local tradesman has a set of kichten wear for sale.

Exactly...they made a tundra look full of life, but still realistic. That's not easy.

Have to disagree. If you are going to get to the point where you are comparing every single table, you might find a thing or two. That said, both Morrowind and Skyrim have amazingly detailed worlds throughout, though I can't really say the same thing for Oblivion. As the person before me said, I feel this just might be a joke thread.

As I said above, if you truly believe there's more clothing options in Skyrim then there's is nothing I can say, no point in arguing.

So now is because Nords do not use forks an blankets or other stuff but I find the detailing in skyrim pretty poor compared to previous titles where not only there was way more stuff to collect ( call it even junk if you want ) but was better placed and distribuited and created much more variety

here is how looks a table in morrowind and in skyrim , in Oblivion I didn't feel any particular deficit but in Skyrim its very well perceived as its a lot of recycled items , there is quite poor item variation as well as many other things few of this few of that , looks like they focused more on graphics and look ( that are really good ) but lacked in good detailing and attentions to the little things that make the game world feel more alive , the overal feeling is that everytime I enter a house a place or some other location I always see the same stuff over and over with very poor variation and most of times the shelves are just with scattered unpickable items or definetly empty ...

also what is with that soul gem spam ? Seems I can find anywhere them are there any suypercharged mines of soulgems in skyrim ? yu can find even in sewers and in the streets , I remember them to be quite exclusifve for wizard classes usually in morrowind while here I find enchantment tables , alchemy tables soul gems everywhere when the same lore and population seem to be quite aversed to magic and magicians ....weird isn't it?

http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/4021/detailsv.jpg

Now notice in this picture how I highlighted with red arrows all the items in plus that morrowind had on a random generic table compared to a "rich" table in skyrim ....

when you go around in bandits coves there are way less items ....

so the game feels a bit rushed like if they really wanted that 11 11 11 release that was more important than completing the game properly ....

Count the items. The Skyrim table has more things.

edit-

No. Seriously. Count the items on each table

Looking at that image, it seems we are missing napkins and silverware, it seems the rest of the stuff is replaced with other stuff in Skyrim, jug - wine bottle, bowl - gourd etc.

Did I say that ?
No
I think some of you should really read the post instead than just write stuff that is not pertinent or made up , just for the sake of a defending position , you like the game? So do I ...
Is it a good game ?
yes and no...

Why I post this ?

Because I want it to be the best possible , you guys do not? like any aspect limitation cutting and simplification proposed to you ? Next time when they will present you with the next elderscroll game more similar to a Dragonage 2 clone than a morrowind one who will you blame?
this attitude of defending any decision made by the fevelopers is not helping and won't help make the game better but actually just justify some wrong choices that instead shoudl be pointed at for a future improvement and change ...

Skyrim has more options.
Not really , in skyrim you have one ring one neckalace , one helmet one suit of armour and boots and gloves that's all mostly if not wrong , in morrowind you have plenty more slots even for pauldrons , so allowing more options , anyway I like the skyrim clothes and armours especially are designed and detailed superbly , I also like that they made some variations for some armours , but I don't like that they decided to merge all into one single suit , reduced the slot options and mixmatching possibilities and also you can not anymore wear a cape over the armours ...

Why is this considered "simplification"?

Well looking at the link you posted seems morrowind has more variances? anyway the topic wasn't on clothes but on "level design" of some places ( not all ) the uninteractivity of most items compared to morrowind or oblivion full interaction...

Your point being?

Being able to dress like a clown makes that much difference?
The game will become less interesting because there are no utensils?
Your choices are limited because to increase your health you have to raise one stat instead of 3?

I wish the loot lists for barrels and sacks weren't so horribly predictable. Forget forks and knives on tables -- why is that when I open a barrel, there is a 99% chance it has 3 cabbages in it? This is made worse by the fact that those cabbages don't sell for much, and you don't get any real benefit from making them into food. You can't even sell the food for as much as it costs to make it or learn to make better meals. Relying on regen after combat is infinitely better, to boot, given that 'vegetable soup' is so heavy. It only exists as a roleplay aid and nothing more. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but it, with these loot lists, stink.

It was a little odd when i saw that there were no longer forks. Manipulable ones at least, if you can say that the old ones were. However when I saw that Skyrim has 194 clothes options compared to 151 in Morrowind, as well as more armor and weapon variations, I was most pleased... eth... ified.
