Violence and Gore

Post » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:56 am

Does anyone think that ES: V should have as much gore as Fallout 3? I think they should take that out. Personally I thought that the excessive violence detracted from the gameplay experience. Oblivion's violence level was pretty good, I thougt.

from what i have seen, the game has the highest age rating possible, meaning gore should at least be optional, but having it on would ruin the TES feel a bit

To be honest, that's the way the game industry is going. I also believe that Bethesda will continue to try and simulate more realistic and better interpretations of their IP. Real violence in gore is part of the immersion is it not?

Actually I am a long-time Elder Scrolls fan been playing since Daggerfall in the 90's. I think they should make the gore in Skyrim like Fallout 3 where you can chop off heads and limbs, as well as pick body parts up and place them anywhere you choose. It makes the game more realistic.

I don't think fallout's gore was very realistic.

I didn't really like how swords worked in Oblivion; they were kinda just like bats or clubs. They didn't stick in the person and leave marks like in AC2. When you stab someone, the blade should go in take a second to be pulled out. Dismemberment could be ok if it isn't over the top.

I think it should be a little like Fallout gore. Not as easy to dismember but you still can

Oblivion level of gore was satifying to me. a tad more would be okay but to the fallout level i wouldnt like it. look at Call of Duty black ops SINGLE PLAYER experience and that the gore i would like

I agree as long as they don't over kill it.

I wouldent mind being able to pull off a power move when they are at low health and be able to slice off whatever I was aiming at IE head, arm, legs, or in half with a big enough weapon. There should be multi angles for each cut as well for some diversity but other then that gore shouldent be over the top. Though blasting someones leg off would be cool. Or freezing an arm and hitting it thus making it shatter and bleed out would be a nice effect on limbs.

The dismemberment in Fallout 3 looked incredibly unrealistic and unnecessary. I am against it personally. Blood is fine though.

Gore should be in the game. We're fighting with swords and axes, not baseball bats!

I always wanted to bust skulls with war hammers and cleave arms off with claymores.

Its just a flesh wound!

I don't mind dismemberment, but it needs to be a lot more rare, instead of it happening all the time, like it did in Fallout 3.

One thing that is missing in Fallout 3, though, is blood pools. Granted, that's a relatively new feature, but if people's heads/arms/legs are getting blown off left and right, there should be blood pools.

More realistic gore and violence yes, realistic being the key word. Excessive gore like Fallout is detrimental to the atmosphere in my opinion.

I think that a little more realism would be nice, though I would still love the game without it. I wouldn't mind seeing some dismemberment if hit by a sword or axe, though it would look stupid if killed by an arrow. Spells could cause some destruction. I am curious where Bethesda will go with this. But no, I don't think Fallout gore would go well with an Elder Scrolls game.

The reason Fallout was soooo gory was because its predecessors called for it. It's part of the game history and even humor. No one is actually going to blow to pieces from a punch.

Fallout style but dismemberment is very rare and long gashes and cuts are common.

It'd be cool if you got cut up and scarred and stuff. Dismembering maybe not as much.

Blood? Yes, please. Dismembering? Fine. Making a guy's head fly 300ft in the air because you shot him with a BB gun in the chest? No.

edit: And let me add as a side note here that I think it'd be cool if they made it so that you took damage over time from open, bleeding wounds until you got them patched up / magicated.

Give me gore...lots of it. Decapitations, dismemberment etc. Just have the option to turn it off for the 'Feint of heart".
