Voice Acting for All Characters But YOU?

No, I prefer the voices I imagine in my own mind.

I don't want my character speaking however a Morgan Freeman monologue that runs through the game could be quite fun :P

I really wish Bethesda would go more towards giving my character a voice. It is amazing to me that with all the voice acting, thousands of hours, that every single character in the game has a voice but YOU!

I really loved the Gothic games were my character would speak.

In OB when my Argonian got hit he'd go "Ohhhgh" in a human voice. That always seemed very wrong. Hope they fix it for Skyrim.

On a side note, that would nearly double the amount of recorded dialogue, as your character would have to respond to most of what is said to him.

Even worse than that - if done right they would have to do a different voice for every race. 10x the voice acting!

Um ... this isn't Mass Effect you know. Have you ever played a TES game?

It works best that way, it leaves your character open for your own 100 percent customization. For instance I would hate it if my Dunmer Rogue where forced to have the same voice as a Nord Barbarian.

And that's the way it should be. They can have combat sounds, but in these games, *I* am the voice (literally, heh).

Unfortunately sir you may very well be completely alone in this, I never did get the deal behind PC's having a voice, ruined a lot of games for me personally in the past.

Absolutely not. Shouts are bad enough as it is. My characters all have separate voices and I know how I want them to sound. Voice acting for them would ruin it.

Let's see, we have Mass Effect with 1 character you can play, male or female. That's 2 sets of voiceovers.

There are 10 races in TES, male and female.

That's 20 sets of voiceovers.

But what if we want to choose our voice? How about 3 voices to choose from.

That's 60 sets of voiceovers.

Too much work if you ask me.

It would go like Dragon Age 2. You would only be able to choose gender. Welcome a game where you can only be an imperial named THUNDERCAT.

I prefer voicing my character in my head. I'm a pretty good voice actor in real life, so I like to think I do a good job. One of my biggest problems with certain mods is the lack of choices that fit with my character when it comes to dialogue. Having a voiced PC would probably lead to this happening.

Takes away from immersion imo, but I do prefer it in straight action games (Assassin's Creed, GTA...). In RPGs its always a bit weird, and I think that they leave it out on purpose to make you seem like you are the character, and lets you roleplay more.

Want voice acting? Do it yourself.

I agree with donjn1. a voice from my character would be nice. Same thing from dragon age. that is one reason why I hate dragon age. I feel like i'm walking around like some mute and it's dumb.

I downloaded a mod for Oblivion that did this. Personally, I didn't like it.

I kinda want to try this. Anyone got a link for it?

No voice that the developers could give my character would ever be able to compete with my imagination.

10 races, 2 genders, audio for everything you could possibly say?

Plus a couple of variations for each?

Holy gigabytes batman.

(Also, what happens if I'm roleplaying a mute eunuch?)
