Wayne Newton, and Marcus is back!

I'm sure this will make many people very happy. But as proven in the other thread, if Marcus is not up to standard, there will be nerd rage.

He's not going to be looking quite the same, though, is he?

Probably not, but with a bit of effort, it can't be that hard to make him look similar to his Talking Head in Fallout 2 can it?

I'm sure they'll do a good job on him. Remember, a lot of these guys were the producers of Fallout 2, so I'm sure they want this game to be even more perfect than we expect.

IIRC Chris Avellone wrote Marcus dialogue in Fallout 2 and he's back on Fallout : New Vegas, so from that point of view, I don't think there's much to be afraid of.
Of course, I would be disappointed if they didn't make the character's justice (both dialogue and graphic-wise), but hey, I want to stay positive, and I'm genuinely happy that they're picking back those storylines from the older games.

I envy all you guys who have played the originals. Meeting characters and seeing references from the originals which were years and years ago must feel so nostalgic, and so fantastic.
I feel like I'll miss so much of the game, but that's what you get.
I'm looking forward to seeing characters from the past games as well, though. For some reason.

If you envy us so much, then just buy the old games off of steam. They're extremely cheap, and run well on pretty much any computer (My computer's a piece of crap and it runs all of the classic games perfectly). I'm sure you could beat Fallout 1 and 2 before New Vegas's release date.

Nah, I haven't played the originals. I want to and should do, but I've never gotten round to it. I just research everything so I have the knowledge that everyone else has. But I know what you mean; some people are, as you said, gonna have that great nostalgic feeling, something I can't experience. :(

In any case, it's nice to see the Obsidian are bringing characters like Marcus back, as that is sure to please fans of the originals.

Here's a thought.
Marcus was described as an 'elderly' mutant in F2. I wonder how he'll be holding up after all this time.

That's what interests me, too. I don't think he'll be follower, but he must have a reasonably big part; Obsidian hired his original voice actor after all.

I might one day, but not before Vegas' release date. I just don't think they'd be my type of game. The only reason I'm involved in the Fallout Universe after all is because of Bethesda and their style of games.
I know that sounds rather dim-viewed (and probably is), but that's the way I feel.

Are those guys in the first image actual characters in the game?
Because awesome! The environment and the character's themselves look great, and it looks as if there are new hairstyles and facial hair or something.

Oh nice. I've read about him on the Wikia. Always wanted to have a chat with the guy.

Here's a thought.

AFAIK muties don't age. The only way to kill them is by some sort of physical injury. Or a custom-tailored virus. The west coast ones don't necessarily get bigger as they age like the east coast ones, but they don't die of old age either.

Hmmn, i forgot about the lack of ageing. Though living that long could definitely have consequences in the mind.

Impossible. He got blown into meaty chunks by the turrets on my way into the Sierra Army Depot.
In other, completely unrelated news, my Chosen One ate a hearty stew that night made of green meat, and went to bed with a full tummy. :)

Also, Marcus being back is [censored] awesome.

Also, John Doman (Major Rawls from The Wire) is playing Caesar. This makes me very, very happy. :D :D :D

its only been about 30 or 40 years not 100. now all we have to worry about is if he is recruitable.

That's what I'm wondering. All of the other pictures we've seen have looked Fallout 3-esque but that one is different.

30 or 40 years on top of how many?

Marcus is at least 100. He met Jacob and founded broken hills in 2185. We dont know how old he was when he was dipped, or how long before this event he was dipped.

well considering there have been pre-war ghouls that didnt have any mental deficiency. it also seems that ghouls and super mutants age very similarly.

plus i doubt obsidian would make Marcus an idiot or senile. he has been the most asked for character to return. so i really dont think they would betray the fan bas of the original 2 fallouts

The models are actually the same we've already seen in the E3 gameplay trailer in the tent area.
The only difference I can see is that the colors are a bit darker.

Michael Dorn, principle character on DS9
Rene Auberjonois, principle character on DS9
William Sadler, recurring character on DS9
John Doman, minor character on DS9

I think we need to consider the possibility that New Vegas is an elaborate facade for a new Deep Space 9 game.
