I'm pretty sure going so fast is unhealthy. I am not sure though, just thought I heard that somewhere. Something like how ten pounds in a week is bad for your body. Don't worry though. You will recover.

Honestly, if I could loose that much in a week I would do it.

Wow good job! Although I've heard that losing more than 2 pounds a week can be bad for you...

I bought a treadmill a few weeks ago as part of my New Year's resolution to get in better shape. I've been using it 5 days a week but haven't lost a pound. I think part of my problem is that I'm not overweight to begin with, so I really need to be working out a lot more in order to lose any weight (although that's not my main goal). My diet's pretty healthy except for sugar....I just can't give that up.

I actually want to gain weight. Considering I grew up on a farm, and run 3 miles a day, I'm light.

It's better to keep a steady workout plan, rather than go all out for a week. Otherwise you'll gain it all back.

I restart P90X tomorrow. For the third time.

For some reason I lack the motivation to workout. I use to be a bit "heavy." or "big boned." Not overly obese. But I lost weight over the years and I am proud of how far I went, though not satisfied. In America, I just don't have that drive to workout. In Brazil I did. Maybe it was because of the beatiful women. I don't know.

=.= I've lost 5 KG this last half a year... and I'm underweight trying my best to gain weight by stuffing my face with food whenever it is presented to me and by frequently eating fast food and fatty food...

Being physically thinner than everyone else your height is not fun.

I lost most of those KG though when I had to start moving again after a break where I managed to gain some weight due to inactivity, hard work seems to do more than just keep me slim during working periods.

this, however even 5 pounds a week is very unhealthy. i am skeptical that the amount of wieght lost is actually that high, but it is possible to loose that much if you drink barely enough water to live and don't eat any thing... or take some kind of colon cleaner.

however 15 pounds of weight loss in a week is not possible by sheer exercise and proper nuitrition alone, especailly regarding exercise that pushes your body to its limit. because at that point you will be gaining muscle which weighs more than fat.

Trying to gain weight at the moment or get back to a fit state. I've been working out at our brand new rec center at my school four days a week for the past month. Also am doing 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups a night.
I need to run a lot more. Trying to get my 2 mile down from 15 minutes.

If you're trying to gain mass, the push-ups and the sit-ups are going to stunt your progress. Each time you exercise you're basically tearing your muscles, which your body then repairs and strengthens so it can deal with the same amount of physical stress better. But if you're exercising those muscles during what is supposed to be their "down-time", you're not letting your body recuperate properly -- you're interrupting its healing.

You can either stick to weight-training or you can do sit-ups, push-ups, Turkish get-ups, etc. One or the other. Both is detrimental.

Like I said, I would like to gain weight but I'd rather be more fit. :P

I'm doing rotc for the spring quarter and will eventually enlist in the army. So this is helping me prepare for the physical training classes I have to take.

I'd suggest you stick to bodyweight exercises, then. It'll get you more practically fit than will weight-training; that is, it improves your endurance and general constitution much more than does weight-training. Weight-training is for when you want fast, superficial results, i.e. you're trying to impress girls.

It's probably water loss combined with fat loss. Depending on how overweight you are, those first pounds can drop easily. Are you not eating many carbohydrates? That would account for losing weight so quickly.

I don't want to be rude, but how much did you originally weigh?

If someone is morbidly obese and has a ton of extra body fat, they can lose up to 25+lbs a week at the start. This is because your body uses a lot more energy because of the added weight, your body also has more energy to use up because of all the excess fat.
Don't expect this all the time though, once you get to a relatively "normal" weight (at least by our american standards ) You'l be back to losing around 2-3lbs a week, and thats if you do everything in your power to lose weight.

Imagine if you were wearing 150lbs of escentailly dead weight, and you were excersising in it.

Also, don't focus just on the weight. You'll find that you'll start losing less weight, but looking better. This is because muscles develop and they weigh a lot heavier than fat.

I'm around 180lbs and 5'6. I don't look like I'm over 150lbs when wearing clothes though. I have the fat distribution of a chick (man boobs, big thighs, bubble butt), yet I have very little fat on my abs, face, and arms.
I'm going to college next year, and want to start dating (yes I know, shameful I haven't had a date yet) and am going to the gym every day. 30min of eliptical, 30min of biking, and general weight lifting. I've been losing about 1.5lbs a week, which is fine by me.

But yet, the pull-up still elludes me. I can sometimes do one, but after that I can't even lift my body up at all. :swear:

Huh. And here's me pushing myself pretty hard, and I've lost about 0.5 kilos (1.1 pounds) in three weeks. It's an achievement though. I'm very determined to lose weight at the moment.

15 pounds is a ludicrous amount of weight, though. I'd suggest that either your scales aren't working too well, or you're resorting to other measures to lose weight. When I was very sick and throwing up all weekend, I lost 3 kilos (6.6 pounds) in just over two days. That's about the only way weight will drop off so incredibly fast

If your weight loss can be attributed in part to any form of extreme weight loss technique such as throwing up, I would suggest you stop, immediately. 'course I don't think you would be because it'd be near impossible to maintain exercise for an entire week if you're also throwing up.

You might also want to consider dramatically increasing your water intake. If you're basically 'drying' your body out by sweating a huge amount and not replacing that water, you can lose a fair bit of weight, but that is also absolutely terrible for your health.

I exercise fairly regularly, though I have been slacking a bit as of late.

As far as eating habits go, I pretty much cut all junkfood out of my diet. Eat a lot of veggies and fruit, which makes up the bulk of of what I eat during the day. As far as meat goes, I pretty much stick with shrimp and skinless chicken. Doesn't make for the most exciting meals, though I can't argue with the diet itself.

Haven't really weighed myself, but the changes over the last few months really show. That's good enough for me.

These are the last people who should be following an extreme exercise regimen, though, unless their goal is shattering their joints or having a heart attack. In either case, the number given is likely either wrong or potentially dangerous.

See Food diet for life B)

The people in my work do a weigh in every Friday to see how much they are losing/gaining, I've thought of joining them but I'd make them all jealous of my light frame that never puts on weight no matter how much I eat :P

maybe, i don't know. there could be other factors that i don't know about, but that amount is not normal.

don't cut off carbs, thats a stupid misconception exploited by the "healthy food" industry. Carbohydrates ARE used in the process of storing fat, but they are also key to breaking down fat while excercising. if you cut carbs completely you'll find that you don't gain as much fat, but you can't loose it very efficiently either.
