Werebears are featured in many rpg's like Diablo 2 and tabletop rpg's like Dungeons & Dragons. They're also in Native American mythology, Norse sagas(Hrolfs saga Kraka) and novels like "The Hobbit". So why not Skyrim, Daggerfall had two lycanthropes. Plus werebears are in the lore.

Here's the part in "The Infernal City" that the main characters fight a werebear

"The horns sounded again, the loudest now being the one they were headed toward. Because of the lack of understory, and because the huge trees were spaced so far apart, they caught glimpses of Hircine’s driver from a fair distance, but it wasn’t until the last thirty yards that Attrebus saw what they faced:

The driver himself might have been a massive albino Nord with long, sinewy arms. He was bare to the waist and covered in blue tattoos. His mount was the largest bear Attrebus had ever seen, and four only slightly smaller bears ran along with him.

“Bears,” Lesspa sighed. It sounded as if she were happy. She shouted a few orders in her native dialect.

The white giant was gone, and in its place something between a man and a bear was fighting the Sench-tigers. It hurled two away, but even as it did, Sha’jal leapt on the driver’s back and closed his viselike jaws behind his neck. The other Khajiitwere finishing off the mount. The other bears lay in brown heaps. The werebearbawled and tried to shake free. Sul strode up almost casually and cut him from crotch to sternum."

An example by Littlewing on how werebears and werewolves can be balanced.

Just imagine, werebears playing more like a slow heavy armored warriors and having the ability to sprint and knock down people like the gamejam. Also when werebears sprint they should gobble up stamina(an idea from REL_Dovahkin), so you would have to be tactical on when you should sprint. They would also be all around slower then werewolves, so it may take awhile to get to your enemies, but when you do it would be a massacre.

As for werewolves, they would be more like light armored assassins and would basically have the same health and attack they do now with the perk tree. But by adding sneak, it would complement for them for having no defence and there would be a 5x multiplier for assassinations. So as a werewolf, you could enter a fort kill most bandits by sneaking and if you're caught you could either summon spectral werewolves and use them for distraction as you creep back into the darkness or you could join the spectral werewolves and use your speed to kill the bandits.

Here's some pictures of how werebears could look like.

As for spears I'd like Iron to Daedric with Artifacts too like Hircine's http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Spear_of_the_Hunter from Bloodmoon included.

More http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW_Weapons_Spears.jpg from Morrowind

I know thease are mods but could this be what the Spears might look like? Maybe touched up a little.

Lets keep on taking about these Werebears and Spears and why they should be added!!!

I wish we could get an expansion in Hircine's realm, but most likely we will get werebears or any other lycanthrope related stuff as a side dish in DLC, which is ok as long as they're included.

I'm curious to see how bethesda will make them look with more time, if they're included.

I am too. They will probably use the werewolf model, but make it more bulkier with more muscles. And obviously it will be more fluffy and bear-like.

I would be cool if betheda could make a new model for werebears, but I 'd be happy with the werewolf model as long as it's convincing and different

I don't like the gamejam one that much, but maybe with some touching up like the VL the Werebear migh look good.

A dfferent way to do a werebear would be to make it more animal-like and then give it a more muscly upper body or something. As long as you can tell the difference between a normal bear and a werebear it should work.

Yeah, the gamejam VL didn't look that great, but once they spruced it up it ended up looking cool enough.

If they are in, I hope they look pretty awesome because its probably the only time we will see them in TES.

Agreed. I think there's a good chance that it will come up. From the gamejam you can tell that bethesda is thinking about including them.

I don't think he is, in all honesty I think their best chance to add werebears was with Dawnguard because they should have kept the perk tree as the Lycanthropy perk tree that way werebears and werewolves could use it. I am still hoping for them, but I am not going to get my hopes up too high, unless we find out one of the DLCs includes Hircine's realm.

Yeah idk if people noticed that he edited his post after you asked

What's the odds of Bethesda including werebears even if they're not the main focus of the DLC? It would please a lot hobbit fans if you did.
Edit: Dang it!! I scared him away.
and then after you said dang it i scared him away he edited his post some how adding this

Also, bear in mind that there alot of things we cant comment on. So we are not trying to sneak away, we have to do the right thing. All I can say is that its better that way and can only hope you guys will trust me on that. Besides I have a big mouth and would likely get myself into more trouble than I already do if I commented on more stuffs. Not to mention that Im sure you guys like being surprised by stuff no?
I find it odd after you said "dang it i scared him away" he comes back and added this. It almost seems like he was talking to you because he said "Also, bear in mind that there alot of things we cant comment on. So we are not trying to sneak away, we have to do the right thing."

What ever DLC/Expansion bethesda adds werebears they would most likely be an "extra", like all the stuff added in Dawnguard that was not related to the theme of the DLC. As for the werewolf perk tree, the totem perks really wouldn't make since for werebears and it would be pretty easy for beth to make a new perk tree for werebears if included.

He did the same thing in my A call to the wolf pack thread, he dropped a " hint " that us werewolves where in for a nice surprise just before the release of Dawngaurd so ya never know he could very well be throwing a hint at us  ( fingers crossed )

I do speak on all of your behalf's on many occasions  In fact a number of us do. Some things make it and some things don't unfortunately, but we definitely try. I wish we had sneaking too. So much to do, so little time :( Forced Lunar Transformations? well honestly I think most people would hate it immediately after they love it. I remember playing GTA 4 and getting phone calls from the different people I met in the game that required me to hang out with them in some fashion or another in order to keep my relationships with them. At first I was like this is friggin awesome, about 20 phone calls later I hated it immensely. Forcing players to do tedious things is tricky stuff and can become frustrating. Unfortunately some ideas, even a bunch I have pitched and tried sound a heck of alot cooler than they actually play out when you finally implement it.
He actually answers what bethesda thinks about forced lunar transformations, but when I asked about werebears he magically added this paragraph below. I would assume that if bethesda weren't thinking about making werebears then he would at least comment about it.

You gotta try and not get your hopes up too much, you could be reading into his comment a little too much. I'm not saying that it's not a hint but you don't want to set yourself up for too big of a fall if it turns out that he wasn't hinting at anything. But " bear in mind.... " does seem to be a hint at something

I know, it's pretty easy for me to get my hopes up. :sadvaultboy: I learned a lot from the great "Dovahbear lie" before Dawnguard.

For the most part, I'm more curious why he added that paragraph right after I asked him about werebears, especially this part "there alot of things we cant comment on. So we are not trying to sneak away".
