Werewolf: Back to Basics, Day Two

1. The liquid, it was right by the glasses right?

2. Did Sarah have anything worth drinking in the house, or can we assume it came from outside?

3. The Chairs, are their backs low enough that someone could have come up behind Sarah, leaped, and cut her throat?

4. Are all the distances/locations associated with the above senario consistent with the above senario?

5. Who screamed?

Yes.

There's some weaker drinks in Sarah's home, nothing special though.

Yes.

They could be? The pawprints are pretty much directly behind the chair.

Probably Sarah.

"This is horrible business, but I say we search the forest."

Also the idea of the blood in the wine had occurred to me as well. Edit: never mind

How would you know? You didn't exactly keep track of her booze supply.

It has a faint alcoholic scent, but you can't pinpoint it to any beverage in particular.

That's in the writeup for you to look at. In this case, it was Nathaniel.

Karen, I like your thought process here. I assume Sarah's husband and children were all vanished at this point?

A lonely night, her first alone in years, probably. A visitor comes in, puts Sarah at ease, shares a drink with her. One of the minions then slits her throat. Indicates some charm, some trustworthiness, and some cunning. But more than anything else, I'm struck by the fact that one of the killers took the time to push in all the chairs at the table! If they were two drinking, they must have been two sitting.

Again the beasts strike, though only one of them seems to have been actively involved in the slaying of this poor lady. My bet is that the other two were distracting her while this one got her from behind, indeed.

Is is safe to assume the perpetrators left through the front door? Or are there any ajar windows?

Troubling business, all of this. He pulls a piece of folded papyrus out of his pocket, opening it up, a rather annoyed look overtaking his visage. Which of you fiends stole my chocolate?

Edit: Misspelled my own name

There is one flaw in the 'sneaked up behind her and slit her throat theory' how would she have screamed?

I vote for Brother Bart (Mr. E).

  • He's far and away the most likely person to push in the chairs after the murder.
  • As a man of God, he could win Sarah's trust.
  • Because of his reserve, he could easily be the weak leader we saw yesterday.

Perhaps the wolfman grabbed her by the hair and then slit her throat? Many explanations could be given.

Case against Bart:

  • He's far and away the most likely person to push in the chairs after the murder.
  • As a man of God, he could win Sarah's trust.
  • Because of his reserve, he could easily be the weak leader we saw yesterday.
  • He's also very likely to use drink as his weapon of persuasion
  • And he was seen inspecting wines (potentially sedated) earlier in the day.

EDIT: for clarity, an adverb.

EDIT 2: combining my two posts.

We are assuming this thing is intelligent no? If we are, and it cares about sneaking, it wouldn't have given her the chance. Where is her family?

Brother Bartholomew

I wasn't as keen on it yesterday, when a misguided mistrust of science led to a couple asking for a search of our scientists' quarters. I may be a humble man in search of a holy brew, but I can clearly see science at play in its construction.

However, today I have reason to suspect one of its inhabitants is furry by night. No, not the kooky one. It's Alain that has caught my eye. And so, I vote to search the scientist's houses. Alain has the personality to both be not directly confrontational in either encounter, and to act decisively when required. Not only decisively, but messily - this kill certainly fits that bill.

He's certainly not the only one to fit as the killer, which is why I do not yet want to condemn him to God. Others:

  • John: He's calm, and his occupation is a darker one that requires action.
  • Najm ad-Din Shaddad: Observant, but has a soldier's upbringing.
  • Cedric Drake: Laidback but arrogant.
  • Brian Obannion: Reserved, commanding, and sometimes strict.
  • "Bear": Easily approachable and slow to anger, but can become annoyed.
  • Myself: I'm soft-spoken but neurotic.
  • Karen Reynolds: Shy but mischievous.

Hmm, you're right.

*Paces while thinking, clinking the rings on his hand together.*

The case against him is, admittedly, stronger than the one against Scarlatti. Perhaps we should take action against him. For now, I reserve judgement, and my vote stays to search my home and clear my name.

Are the cups Sarah's? I think I should be able to identify them, I live right next door...

A closer look at our searches last night:

Having a hard time picturing how this all went down? Who followed whom, where?

Drouve's room: the cleanliness neither matches nor contradicts what we know about his personality. All items are accounted for. Karen ate his candy bar.

Nyran's room: all possessions accounted for. Magda took some coins.

Chandler's room: awful smelling potions, and a very defensive showing.

Nathaniel's room: noticeably messy, again the wine situation, plus the association with Bart if that bears out. Not a great fit for the non-leader wolves yesterday, though the God complex could have led to aggression.

Klaus's room: not sure what's being intimated about Karen here... Karen's a milkmaid and apparently likes chocolate, so...there's that? Clarification, please?

Well of course they're intelligent and clever, they're /lycanthropes/, but have you forgotten two days ago already? They attacked a man in broad daylight with witnesses. They may still be lacking common sense, or they could have simply made a mistake.

The noblemen/merchants were trying to dissuade everyone from searching their houses. Gil'glar was to first to enter the room. Bartholomew followed shortly after. Then the rest of the mob followed.

I'm not sure what you want clarified about the second situation.

You are correct, I am calm in demeanor, because I've made my peace. I haven't stolen a dime since I arrived here, and I can live off of the dragon's horde I have stashed away. My conscience is clean, for have never taken from a man in need.

I carry a blade that many of the men here would call a toothpick. I am not a man of violence, but not a coward all the same. My person does not match that of the beasts, and I could never have harmed Sarah!*voice becomes thickened by emotion, and tears appear in his eyes*

I need a feckin drink!
