What about AEDRIC quests and artifacts for the next DLC?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:48 am

I think by lore the Aedra aren't dead. Instead they are in a state of "spiritual-existance" that is tied to Nirn but unable to directly communicate with mortals.
But yes a quest that ties in followers of a certain order helping to create/find/restore some aedric artifact then

Cool, one problem:

There are no such things as Aedric artifacts.

So you're saying Auriel is not an Aedra?

Just want to say, I absolutely support the idea of more Aedra in Skyrim. They have always been relatively marginal when compared to the Daedra. I would definitely like to see more Aedric quests and artifacts in future DLC.

Aedra have been in the games before, but not in the same way as the Daedra. Probably because the Aedra can not have direct influence on Nirn the way that Daedra do.

This. We can't have Aedra quests because they sacrificed their ability to interfere with mortals in order to create Mundus.

We have amulets to all of the gods/aedra already...we don't see amulets of Molag Bal, so that evens out the their representation to some extent.

This there are many times I wished I could get buffs from deadra shrines or have deadric amulets but I have settle with their artifacts also as Horn said aedra sacrificed their ability to interfere with mundus/mortals.

There are artifacts relating to each of the Nine Divines, and I do count Talos as one of the Aedra even if he didn't start out as such. Also, there are several moments where the Aedra do commune directly with mortals.

I describe those in detail in the following paragraph which contains spoilers... mostly for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

Spoiler
In Morrowind you can meet an old man in Ghostgate named Wulf and he gives you his lucky coin. This is an incarnation of Tiber Septim. In Oblivion you have to search for the Armor of Tiber Septim, which is needed for the quest for the Blood of a Divine. Since this is to open a portal to Mankar Camoran's paradise, it has to be assumed that Camoran himself had some way of using the blood of an Aedra as well. The Amulet of Kings can be considered an Aedric artifact of Akatosh. The Knights of the Nine features a whole armor set, along with a sword where each piece is blessed by a different Divine - keep in mind that many Daedric artifacts were made by men or mer. Spellbreaker and Volendrung are both crafted by the Dwemer, how they became Daedric artifacts in the first place could be through a sort of Daedric blessing. There seems to be some way Dibella can communicate with mortals through the Sybil - perhaps it is possible for the Dragonborn to commune directly with Akatosh, like a Sybil of Akatosh in some way? Dibella also is associated with the Brush of Truepaint. The Lord's Mail is an artifact that appears in Arena, Daggerfall and Morrowind and was created by Kynareth. Mara has two artifacts in Morrowind - a blouse and a skirt. Stendarr's Hammer appears in Tribunal. Zenithar has two gloves associated with him - called Zenithar's Warning and Zenithar's Wiles that appear in Morrowind. Last but not least you have Auriel's Bow and Auriel's Shield, both artifacts of Akatosh.

Yes, Aedra are dead (to be honest, I′m new in the wonderful Elder Scrolls′s Universe, so I had to do a little research about the topic) , but there′s something I don′t get: that means that they not exist as spirits or entities? If they do, maybe they could contact us by a medium or something like that. Something like a secret order of priest or maybe they could contact us in the shape of an oracle... I′m a big fan of the Legacy of Kain Series, and I was thinking of some ways the divinities of that universe use to manifest in that world.

P.D. Sorry if I made some mistakes, I′m not a native english speaker :)

By the way, maybe it′s a silly question, but can anybody please tell me where′s the option to use that spoiler button?

Anyone else find it odd that Aedric artifacts use soul gems to charge? I find it odd just because I don't think the Aedra would be too interested in trapped souls. It makes sense for Daedra but I just don't think aedric artifacts should use soul gems. Honestly if Aedra are so powerful I think their artifacts should be unlimited charge.

The Aedra are roughly equal to the Daedric Princes. Soul gems function the same for all magic items, not just daedric ones.

There is a Shrine to Nocturnal from which you can receive Nocturnal's blessing. You can find it at the Thieves Guild Headquarters (the name escapes me at the moment).

Me too, I'm suprised theres no Talos based armor, or something similair in Skyrim.

Mmmmm, wearing some Armor of Talos while butchering Thalmor. Delicious. Make it happen, Bethesda. :tes:

The light side. The Daedra are the dark. More or less. I'm a bit new to the lore myself. Here's another one.

That's actually a really black and white thing to say. When it comes to defining sides, it is really a grey area with most of them. However, the Aedra tend to look out more for the mortal races, while the Daedra are more self serving. Only a few of the Daedra are consistently evil, Mehrunes Dagon, Molag Bal, while some of the others just look out for number one. Some, like Azura, actually work much the same as the Aedra do, looking after mortal races and affairs.

Yes please, skyrim is far too focused on doing bad things. More quests for good characters is welcome in my opinion.
