So what are you doing to kill time until ESO?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 9:46 am

One of those threads. This is probably the worst time to be without a game, but I simply don't have squat worth playing that I haven't already played to death. The PC gaming industry seems to be on life support, as it is. I can't find anything. But maybe somebody here knows something I don't. I'm actually tempted to go back to slimy WoW in the meantime, although I'll probably cancel my subscription after a week, so why bother.

Playing Star Trek Online, in fact I liked playing it so much I sub'ed to it just last week. It is a very fun game though its more "lets go in guns a blazing" then true Star Trek where they always try to avoid conflict, in STO Starfleet Command always gives you the OK to take what ever actions you deem necessary and that always means shoot first and ask questions if anyone is left alive later...

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa....tttttt????????

Star Trek Online? I was there at launch day. It was mildly entertaining, for about two weeks. That was a long time ago, though. Has it really improved that much since then?

i know this wont be popular here but i am glad the 2 games i am most excited for are not out yet. right now i am playing ball almost every day and will continue that through the summer. i will mess with marvel heroes and probably path of exile/neverwinter during the rainy days. come September i got GTA 5 to play and that will easily last me til TESO, probably beyond

Bah, I thought the release date was set for 2013. Of course, that usually means the very last day of the year before 2014. If that is the case, I may as well go do BGs until I want to slit my wrists. I will never touch GW2 again. Anet can svck a fart out of my virtual crack.

Not sure because I only started to play it in January of 2012 as a free to play player. I have to admit though that I am a long time Trekie going back to when I was growing up and watching the Original Series as new shows. Yes I realize that does date me but there you have it, I am a Trekie through and through.. I love Star Trek, especially the missions that take me back to older episodes like the Guardian of Forever as an example, very fun stuff indeed. A lot of the missions are rewritten from the original show and Star Trek the Next Generation, I love all of those ones. And a new Romulan expansion is out now so its fun times indeed.

how long did you last? thats kinda what i am wondering. i spent a lot of time playing path of exile during the alpha and am now just going back to it as filler until marvel heroes launches. if neverwinter can hold me for about 3 weeks i think it will be enough

I like Star Trek, too, which is why I got the game. But it was a little lackluster at the time I played it. It may as well had been a single player game, since absolutely no one interacted with anyone else, unless they were forced to do so in those group events (forget what they called them).

The internet is a weird place. Have you ever heard of Phyllis Schlemmer? The story goes that she, like the "channelers" of today (the ones who claim to contact alien beings through their mind), channeled a bunch of aliens while Gene Roddenberry was present, and that is where he got the idea to do the show.

Don't mind me, I'm just slightly insane.

This forum

And Planetside 2, but I'm not subbed as I'm not convinced the game will last too long on Aussie servers (specifically for me who works nights and can only play mornings) *sad face made of punctuation*

GW2 was too much like Wow combat wise (e.g tab targeting, mobs nice and evenly spaced out for you to grind and attack one at a time, button mashing 1-2-3 etc)

I've heard mixed reports on Defiance so I guess I'll have to try it.

I've also heard Darkfall Unholy wars is much like the original (which was a great sandbox mmo with an awesome idea about combat, but the game always had this mildly unfinished vibe).

they polished it quite a bit -- it kinda feels like a nice median between wow and gw2 now - which is fine for me cause its free to play - if i had to pay or subscribe id probably jus stick with secret world or somethin

If they haven't released it in time for the Christmas rush then don't expect to see it until 2014, equally expect a quieter launch.

I can see them releasing for Christmas come what may, since they have (if rumours are true) compeition in the MMO market at a similar time and the release of the next gen consoles will take a hefty bite out of many people's disposable income. I would guess either November / early December or Feb / March next year, with Q4 being more likely to avoid competition gaining traction and taking potential players.

I'm trying to enjoy NWN. It is tough. I've never been bored with an MMO so fast. I'm hoping it will get better.

The one cool thing is, it kinda gives you practice as to what ESO will be like combat wise as far as key placement and powers. There are still timers on the powers and you can not move while casting, so it is not as fluid, but it gives you an idea.

Going slowly down a backlog of Steam games that I bought when I was using a cheap video card and couldn't really play much, just finally finished Dishonored and not sure what I'm going onto next. At night when my roommate is off work we all hop on and stream various multiplayer stuff, which we're currently playing Neverwinter and Warframe. Really just waiting for TESO and killing time.

There are many new games I'd like to play, but unfortunately, I'm not made of money.

So right now I'll be playing GTA IV and reading the LotR saga.

Was playing GW2 but i get very fustrated with how they did WvW. Im giving Neverwinter a chance but liek a few others have said "its not my cup of tea" I do like getting on Planet Side 2 every other day to join the massive futuristsic attacks and i like being a sniper.

Hummn, never heard of that before though it does sound interesting and Roddenberry was definitely a visionary when he came up with that show. I mean look how long it has lasted and how many series, movies, etc have come from his idea...amazing to say the least

I really do wish in STO that the Klingon side had more missions like the Starfleet side does, it seems like the Klingon side is all PvP and hardly any PvE. Some of the more interesting missions have you going back in time to fight those Devidians.... Remember the Next generation episode that where they find Data's head back in time? those aliens..really good stuff that...

And the only reason I am here now and not in STO is because Cryptic's servers all just went down...Neverwinter, STO. all of them down down down...
