What are your best skills?

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 8:15 am

I'm a member of http://www.findagrave.com/index.html, which is a grave registration and memorial site- mainly US, but branching out. It's also a handy genealogical tool. I started with the graves of my own family. I find them and take pictures of the stones. People from all over learn they have a relative buried in my area and request a picture. I hunt for the grave, take a picture, and post it to the memorial for their relative.

I thought you were more of a grave-robber to be honest.

I got a question. My family owns a really old school house on about 8 acres I believe. Owned it as long as I can remember. Near the back around the woods there's an old gravesite. Most of the stones were smashed by some punk kids but is there anyway of learning anything about these graves? Or is that not what that site's about? It's in Michigan if that matters.

I'm not really best at anything, but I'm okay at quite a bit of stuff. Sort of like a jack of all trades, but I'm an amateur jack of all trades if anything.

My best skill is my innate ability to identify my best skill, which is a tie between computers and paradoxes.

I can draw/paint fairly well.
I'm pretty good at baseball (played for about ten years)
I'm decent with computers.
I'm good at school in general (I managed to make all A's this semester with 2 AP and 3 Pre-AP classes)
I'm good at freshwater fishing. Mainly bass and perch, sometimes catfish.
And I can make one hell of a good bowl of cereal.

There are several possible sources to ID the grave yard and the people. Going to PM.

Dunno really. Is determination a skill? That, probably.

Other than that, I have some skill in cooking, bass playing, programming and so on. Not necessarily an "expert", but good enough to keep myself entertained.

I possess the skill of objectivity. My father stressed it when I grew up. Always look at everything from both sides. Never claim that you represent the one, absolute truth.
I have also spent a great deal of my life reading about the world. Anything from history to culture and entertainment. I learned to read when I was 4 so I got a several years' head start compared to many of my peers.

I do not, however, possess any practical skills. I do have pretty good reflexes which made me stand out in military because I have one hell of a quick trigger finger.

Eh, I hate these kind of things as I just feel really egocentric speaking about how frikken awesome I am

I guess these are mine, but I'm really not skilled compared to some of the people out there! - Which is great, surround yourself in those better than yourself and you will gain a lot.

Everything I've picked up from parkour - Balance, precision, control, absorbing impacts (basically, increasing the time by increasing the range of motion in order to lower the impulse as the force is constant - impulse = Ft, and that's my Physics revision for the holidays ), flexibility, reacting to new situations under pressure in a very short time, etc.
Arty stuff, social stuff, maths stuff, language stuff.

That'll do it for me  I'm kind of "the jack of all trades but master of none". Though, I'm fine with that as you can never really master something

You will probably find it amusing that in Maltese "bass" is farting.

On a similar note, over the years I have mastered ventriloquism - but with farts instead of voices.

Awesome! Bit confusing when it comes to those high-pitched squeaky farts though.

On a similar note, over the years I have mastered ventriloquism - but with farts instead of voices.

Probably the most useful skill mentioned so far!

I'm going to be the best husband on the planet for Falchya

I have some pretty crazy carpentry skills if I say so myself

As a former soldier I can say that since I survived that crap, I guess I was pretty okay at soldiering..

Music production - been doing it since I was a kid
Reading people - always had a knack for sussing people out

Can't think of anything else I'd regard as a skill. I wish I could say cooking, but I'm terrible at it. Mostly because I can't be bothered.
