Normal & Non-hardcoe then Hard & hardcoe next.

At least a few other people said Very Hard...

The only part of FO3 that was remotely difficult was the Point Lookout DLC because of the "armor ignoring 35 dmg every hit or w/e it was" that svcked... well that and they had a lot of life... other than that though...

I think it depends more so on how well you plan to build your character, I always went for Crit perks, high luck, and sneaking attacks. But if you wear power armor and go in with a minigun I bet the game is a lot different balance wise.

Sneak Attack Crits are Over-Powered. And the ever so awesome, nade reverse pickpocket insta-kills

I will start out on Normal until I get the hang of sneaking without the CSS. If it's anything like three, though, I'll be on VH in no time at all.

hardcoe I'm still not sure if I'll play yet. I play for fun, not for challenge, and I'm not sure if it's going to be fun micromanaging one's weight. I have enough trouble with that in Fallout 3 since my characters all strangely develop severe kleptomania.....

Depends on how difficulty is implemented, if it's the same way as it was in Fallout 3, it won't move from normal.

I always start my games on Normal. Later on a may decide to go back and play on higher difficulties. (hardcoe on some later playthrough)

I think its kind of sad if you play on anything below Normal in any game to be honest.

Sad? I usually start normal, and if the gun doesn't seem to have enough power or if I still think their damage sponges at 100 gun skill I go down to easy.

I voted Normal and Maybe.
I'll probably try out hardcoe mode, but if I don't like it by the time I'm level 5, then I'll just restart. Without hardcoe.

for my normal playthroughs itll be normal for my hardcoe playthroughs itll probably be easy or very easy (gotta make up for bullet weight, thats really dumb)

I think bullet weight will take care of itself as you spend rounds taking people down, you can pick up more junk. the hardest thing will be managing weapons to take with, 1-3 vs every weapon in FO3 (9shotty/pistol/assault rifle/plasma rifle...uniques...etc..)

Edit: thus why i look forward to a backpack mod like FO3 had :D

First time I play on Easy just to not have to stress about always dying. I want to take everything in my first time through.

Assuming ammo weights about the same as in the FWE mod for Fallout 3, it really isn't a problem. With that mod i always have 4 or 5 weapons, and 5 clips worth of ammo for each of them (or for the one with larger clip if they use the same ammo), with few grenades and mines. It's easy to survive since you can scavenge ammo from the enemies you kill (also when you know what sort of weapons the enemies will be using, you can take weapons that use ammo that will be available).

1st play- Normal, Casual

After that-
Hard or Very Hard (whatever is the most challenging while still being more fun than frustrating).
hardcoe Mode- At least once to see how it goes, after that, depends on how well I like the features in actual play.

What I meant was a lot of games nowadays have a huge drop off in difficulty from Normal to Easy, I prefer to have some sort of challenge otherwise what would be the point of playing? :tops:

Will playing on Hard net you more XP per kill, meaning that your character will max out earlier in the storyline? If so, I will rather stick to Normal, so that the character development lasts longer. In any case, I expect to always play in hardcoe mode.

Can't really say which difficulty at this point I am going to play due to me not knowing how they are going to work this time around. If its the same as F3 then most likely Easy, with somewhat realistic damage. But, if they make the damage even remotely realistic (1 or 2 shots to the head, 3-4 shots to the chest=dead) then I'll play on Normal or higher. And hardcoe on my second playthrough.

Odd, I play on very hard and I've never had a merchant die... you could always reverse pickpocket their guards some sweet gear I guess.

Hopefully not, I fully expect to take an XP hit for upping the difficulty.

Thinking about it now, I wonder if they could've added the option for the player to set his own damage ratios instead of the difficulty settings.
When you use the difficulty settings it always affects both the player and enemies damage ratios and moves them in opposite directions.
If you play on easy the damage you deal always goes up and the damage you take always goes down and vice versa.
But what if I felt all weapons in general weren't strong enough and changed it so both damage ratios went up, or if I still wanted to do the same amount of damage but have my enemies do more.

Does that sound okay or is it just pointless typing?

(Oh, and I'm sure those who use the PC are able to change things such as this but its a little more complicated for the console users.)

Are any of you able to confirm whether or not we will gain bonus XP for killing enemies on 'hard' and 'very hard' difficulty settings? I'm curious as I don't want my character to reach level 30 prematurely; the game becomes a little bit less interesting once character development stops. I hope it's the other way around. As I intend to explore every nook and cranny, and want to challenge myself as much as possible, I want 'very hard' difficulty combined with low XP.
