What happened to the cool Nord Legionnaire?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 9:16 pm

What happened to him? Was he outside when the PC and Ulfric ran into the keep. Do you think he died? I hope not, he was cool

You can choose to follow either him or Rolaf. Choosing Rolaf will cause you to fight Imperials while going with Hadvar, the loyalist Nord, will have you fighting Stormcloaks most likely. It's possible that the one you choose not to follow will die, can't know for certain yet. I'm thinking if you follow Hadvar you'll meet with General Tullius instead of Ulric.

Happy to help. I find him really interesting too, he's living testament to the fact that this is civil war with Imperials and Nords on both sides of the conflict, rather than Skyrim v. Cyrodiil.

There will certainly be some Imperial former-Blades and their sympathizers on the Stormcloak side as well as Nord Loyalists and Empire-sympathizers fighting for the Empire.

Yeah, i think you're correct regarding the sympathizers aspect. I'm presuming that you're going with the legion on your first playthrough basing on your avatar? I definitely am.

How cool would it be though, if Hadvar could become a companion.

Yep, my main is definitely going Legion. Hadvar is at least a companion through that first "dungeon" in the escape from Helgen. Hopefully they don't kill him off at the end of it though, that seems like a common trope in games.

You guys talk funny. :goodjob:
I just hope I'm choosing the "Good side".
I don't want to end up joining the "Wrong crowd", if you know what I mean.
Spoiler
Stormcloaks are blue, appear mostly Nord, and start off looking victimized. Doesn't really push the player to want to join the other team, you know?! Makes the SC look instantly like the good guys?

Do yall think choosing one side in the beginning will disqualify you from joining the other side later on? That a huge decision to make so early into the game if you know what I mean.

I doubt it. You're right- Too big of a decision w/ not enough information.

I don't think so. I'm not too worried about it though, I'll have plenty of characters on both sides to explore every possibility. Plus, there's probably an option to switch sides somewhere along the line if you're so inclined., that's how it normally works with competing joinable factions.

Yeah, forcing that kind of decision early on would be entirely untypical of an RPG. I also doubt that anyone will hold it against you that you tried to escape your execution at all cost.

Not to mention that circumstances will steer the player towards the stormcloacks. The player is seconds from being executed by imperials. Who in the right mind will choose to help and flee with their captioners and executors?!?

What if the Imperials let you live if you chose Imperial as your race?

Exactly!!!
I'm just glad the Achievements call for "This OR That" and not both! I don't plan on going through two playthroughs. Surely, both sides are equal.

Also, we know that sooner or later the player will receive help from a former 'Blade' officer. This fact alone makes me thing that not all the people within the imperial government approve what it is doing. Another point to ponder: can we still side with the imperials and be "good" ?

I wonder if there's also a "To hell with you guys, I'm outta here" option :) so you can skip the intro and tutorial dungeon. If I remember correctly a lot of people complained in Oblivion that, when they played the game for the second time, they could not skip the prison dungeon.

True. I wonder why they are executing everyone trying to enter Skyrim. Does anyone know?

I think they were executing people they suspected to be in league with the Stormcloaks.

Spoiler
Maybe their base is somewhere near the border? That could explain why you're caught there. Why were you at the border at all? You decide.

Anyone who played the game for 100's of hours like I did knows better to create a save game at the exit of the sewers so you can load it and change everything you need to change (race, BS, Skills). I wonder where this will be in Skyrim; it appears to be a lot different based upon the intro but I wonder where it is...oh well I guess we will find out in a few weeks. :hubbahubba:

This, I was wondering how would be the introduction if I chosen an Imperial, but apparently I have to figure out myself.

That general who appears just after getting off the carriage, she is very sick. '-'
