What's happening to me?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 8:49 am

I'm just not gaming as much as I used to.

I've gone almost a month without really playing, which is very unusual. Does that happen to anyone else?

Play something from the early 90's. It will help you feel better.

Yeah. I just pick up a different hobby and the like to occupy my down time instead of games.

Suppose it has anything to do with college looming in the fall? I'm going early, so I'm really nervous.

Yeah it is weird. I really want to play ME2 but I just can't make myself pick up the controller for fear I won't do what I need to do. Got a homework assignment still outstanding and I need to study but I'm not doing it or playing ME2, instead just roaming the forums because I've convinced myself THAT I can quit at any time >.<

Why are you scared of college? College is a fun place, as long as you do your work.

Its a symptom of Lycanthropy, tell me does the idea of being shot with a silver bullet scare you ?

No idea, im in a similar position. I think you may aswell just find a new hobby. I still visit these forums, but I am considering selling my games. Considering how much I used to play games, my current state is odd. Also I just find the idea of playing them bores me now, so may aswell sell them while they are worth something.

I dunno, because I'm young I guess.

I've not "really" played games in like a year and a half

Don't have time for it, and get more enjoyment out of other hobbies

I am reading a lot more, so I don't guess it's really bad.

I feel bad because I built a high-end gaming PC back in late June/early July, and I doubt I've even accumulated 200 hours on it.

I played a good bit back in 2011, but I don't even know if it's even been turned on since Christmas. I even got both Witcher games, but I just don't feel compelled to play them. Even though they're supposed to be amazing.

The closest thing is that I keep up with new stuff in the tech world, but that's just so I don't fall behind.

Same here---my new hobby overrided my love of video games.

I play games sometimes everyday for a week or so and then go for periods where I don't play at all for a week or more. It depends on whether I have other things to do and if that's what I fancy doing at that moment. I did during 2006 and most 2007 not play any games at all until I got back into it

You're just growing up.

I think it's something about realising, and vesting oneself in the realisation, that life is so much more interesting, and has so many more possibilities, than any form of entertainment. Or at least that there are more worthwhile forms of entertainment than gaming. (Were it not so... )

Very similar thing here. I mostly just play games when others drag me into them. I was gaming quite a bit up until half a month after Skyrim was released however. I think I was just let down a bit too much by what Skyrim turned out to be, I had no other plans but to play Skyrim for the next few months after release but I only played it for two weeks, I haven't even taken a look at my collectors edition artwork book yet. And with no other games planned I've just been indulging myself in other things.

And it's not like I haven't had time if I had time to watch the entirety of Dragonball Kai within this month alone (97 episodes each 20 mins long, that's 32 hours and 20 minutes of wasting time). But perhaps I've just been too tired to do anything other than watch something after work, and on those days where I am not working I tend to be focusing on calculating the best ways to build my Magic: The Gathering deck and competing in tournaments that leave me tired too.

Also I think it's something everyone goes through from time to time where they just don't feel like doing something. I tend to go through cycles where my life is dominated by one of the three, games, T.V. material (mostly anime) and books. My cycle was on games and now it's on T.V. (anime) material so I guess up next is books for me :P

Does that happen to anyone else?

The only game I've played in the last few years was Skyrim and it took about a month for me to get bored.

I'm kind of glad about that though.. I waste enough time already >_>

I go through this-its usually because I've been playing one type of game for too long. I started a new game on pokemon black the other day and just said "Ya' know, I really don't want to do this."

Decided to give Skyrim another chance and just ended up slaughtering every non-essential I could find out of boredom.

Then I picked Soul Calibur IV and Tekken 6 back up and I'm having loads of fun.

I tend to do a lot more Source mapping than actual gaming now. I still game a fair amount, especially Saints Row the Third and Arkham City at the moment, but I find it hard to get into a game as much as I did when I played Fallout 3 for example. I have a mountain of incomplete games piling up, and it's hard to get back into them because of different control schemes and forgetting the story and stuff.

You'll revisit gaming at some other point in the future. I went a year without playing any games whatsoever, but then randomly got back into it. Take your recent disinterest and explore other hobbies in the meantime.

Considering the weird threads we've been getting lately, I came into this one honestly expecting the OP to be something like "I have hair where there was no hair before / I get funny feelings when I see a girl I like". :ermm:

My gaming time has thinned a little in the past month and a half.Mostly I've been doing other things. I was hardly ever home during winter brake.I've also been watching a bunch of new shows on Netflix. I'm sure as classes get into a full swing I'll be back to gaming more often.

Same with me though typically I don't play alot during spring and early fall. It tends to show in my school grades since all of my second quarter is during the holiday season and then mainly after, so many big games come out that I want, so my grades drop, then my next two quarters get better since my desire to play decreases.

I ended up buying some new games prior to losing interest. Granted it was only a few, but still wasted money. I just ended up canceling any of my pre orders, with the money saved im putting it to other hobbies. Bought some music, ordered a VN, im excercising in my free time (was until I [censored] up my ankle, now im on a break until its healed) and considering to try and learn the guitar again.

I cant say I miss games tbh. At first I wanted to enjoy gaming again, I was kinda annoyed I knew I enjoyed games and spent lots on them, but now I just find more enjoyable things to do with my time.

Maybe the first Skyrim expansion pack will bring me back.

My content OCD will force me to buy it.

I think my only active preorder is Mass Effect 3. I love those games, so I'll probably play it.
