What happens with C2 - PC

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 2:48 am

Crysis 1 modded is barely on-par with Crysis 2 at Very High. There are no mods that surpass the quality of that trailer.

I should know, I am the creator of one of the most well-known graphical enhancement mods (the Time of Day files for CCC / CUDAATS).

What do you expect, for Crytek to make some special PC-only title that is completely different than the console versions?

Additionally, don't mount Crytek in with every other multi-platform developer out there. No other developer has been able to make all multi-platform versions at once using one interface - they've all had to make them separately.

One more thing, you've only seen around 3% of the game in total. 3% of the game... yet you know what the game will be all about? Really?

This is still Crytek. Of course this is going to be a worthy successor - it'll actually have a storyline this time around. You act like Crysis 2 has been handed off to some other company.

The 3% of the game we have seen though has not been up to par with what we were given in Crysis 1 (aside from story)...

If Crysis 2 has something much better to offer, then EA and Crytek chose some horrible levels to showcase.

I agree, we need some new footage or shots soon.

I think they are just holding their good stuff till the major COD hype has went down but they are going to show some new goodness around the winter holidays and when 2011 starts but I totally agree that we need new footage soon (mainly for the PC cause so far....) but I couldn't disagree more what you think about the levels we were shown Talon95 cause in my opinion they are totally epic.

@ Ultimarage

So if youre an insider... then tell me what is the more difficult task for a gamedesigner?

To create a believeable organic natural inviroment like a jungle or a forest, or a static metropolis?
Even for complete layman the answer should be obvious.

( Edit: Maybe its a question on how routined you can work with a setting... and of course using speed tree generated Forests is no big deal comparing to manually create a Skyline or a whole City... But for me the Jungle Setting from Crysis 1 is far more impressive than the City)

And yes it could be possible that only 3% has been shown right now... but when i think back to the Crysis 1 marketing.. even the early footage back in 2006 was far more impressive than anything from C2 since now.

A layman cannot possibly know that information as they do not create games.

Urban environments take much longer to create than forested environments, and are also harder to create than forested environments.

I've created both.

I think we will have to wait another 2 months until the current launch season is over. In January the marketing will probably kick in... EA knowing they will spend a lot of money to promote the game, but it is useless to do it when the game is not to be released for another 5 months.

EA and Crytek MUST promote the game.

Crysis 1 has been unnoticed, Crysis 2 must be a phenomen.

EA, please, make a lot of promote for Crysis 2 !

Unfortunately, E3 demo & Central Terminal Station weren't 360 setting. Yeah, we saw Xbox neighbourhood on desktop in E3 presentation, but the setting wasn't 360.

Do you know that they showed 360 SP demo in Eurogamer Expo? The demo graphics setting was much worse than E3 demo & Central Terminal Station Trailer. Low draw distance(object pop-up), low lod ratio, texture streaming problem, big lag, low framerate, etc. We can't see such problems in E3 demo & Central Station Terminal Trailer. It means their graphics settings are different.

And, I don't think those PC SP demos aren't max setting. Because US marine character models are bad. Low poly & low detail, they're much worse than Crysis1. But I think most of other settings are high ~ very high. I don't like the missions. Map design & object design are bad.

3D trailer isn't gameplay video, and old. We don't have any highest setting SP gameplay video. Real PC quality gameplay video is only "Heroes Journey Gamecom Trailer" now. It's just better than 360 version.

Which will be a kick in the teeth for console players when they finally see what their consoles are really capable of.

However, i agree, at this point in development crysis 2 doesn't look as good as crysis 1 from what we've seen. However i'm sure it will do upon release, or at least look the same but run better. Both of which are acceptable (even if the latter is a little boring, but hell, crysis 1 is still years ahead of todays standard).

@ Comfy

Do you really believe that the Consoleplayers and/or the magazines will realize that?
It will come down to an " they cant use the full power of console xy" argumentation.
As always.

Uncharted 2 apparently uses the full power of the ps3 and crysis still kicks it in the nards graphically, so that argument doesn't work for sane people.

What's with all the baseless pessimism? I've probably seen every scrap of released content and can definitely say that C2 is head and shoulders above even modified C1 in many ways. It's like you guys don't even want the game to be good.

It's all a matter of in-correct selected info. being shown to some of us. It can be bothersome.

@perle

how can you say that?

I havent seen a jungle setting in Crysis2 so far.
And i havent seen a "New York" City map for Crysis 1 so far.
So what are you going to compare anyway?

Anyway.. i think for 3 years of development Crysis2 is just not the big surprise in grfx for pcgamers who can max out Crysis 1 ( or even modify it) if there is a difference is not very mentionable. And that personally disapoints me. Expecially from a Company who raised the bar for grfx ( in an insane way) with every new game they released.
Its not that i dont want Crysis 2 to be good. Its that i wanted Crysis 2 to look much better thatn right now.

And dont tell me it will look totally different when its released in March.
Polishing doesnt mean reconstructing everything.

Crysis 2 already does look a ton better than Crysis 1.

What you're expecting is unrealistic. Half the 3D trailer looks like concept art FFS. I don't remember any moments where a Crysis 1 scene looked like concept art.

I think its not productive if we keep this conversation about the Crysis 1 and 2 comparison.

I dont see a huge difference and you do.

So keep your point of view and i will keep mine.
