What happens with C2 - PC

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:39 pm

Hi.
Why there is no movies from PC version of Crysis 2 ?
Is not ready to testing or what?
Or maybe it is updated, to be more dynamic than console vers.?
It is kinda funny, becouse it looks like Crytek forgot about PC fans :(
Second Question. When will beta test on PC?
I very want participate in it.

We dont know.

Crytek seems to like to cater to the console crowd very much now. Crytek should just break off from EA & Microsoft partnerships and do whatever the heck they feel like doing.

It seems that the publisher is holding Crytek back from doing what they want to do.

PC Beta = unknown
Real PC footage = unknown
Xbox360 lovers? = you betcha.

We know that Electronic Arts handles the marketing. You would think that offering a first amazing PC experience, they would want to show off their new big thing, the console experience.

While I share your dissatisfaction about the content shown, I do believe it is good to show the console crows what Crysis 2 has to offer.

Indeed, we've already played crysis. Plus outside of PC gaming no-one really knows about crysis anyway (the marketing wasn't particularly pervasive to say the least, then they complain about only have a few million sales), so i guess they're trying to get the avaerage console games to stop chasing lights from wristwatches, shouting profanaties down a mic with their squeaky 10 year old voice and pay attention for 5 seconds.

PC gamers should at least have a "real" experience.

I can see why Crytek are showing off all the console stuff first as they've never created a console game and they want to show off what they can do on consoles.

That doesn't mean they have to ignore their first audience.

I think the way they're showing off all the console footage is going to work out better for us pc gamers. At the moment we see they're only slowly showing bits and peices of console gameplay/screenshots which is getting us exited and curious about the comparison to pc. But when they finally show us the PC stuff we'll go crazy in exitement.

They're just warming us up first.

I cant help myself but i think it will lead the Pc gamers to a major letdown.
It all points to raise expectations on consoles and lower expectations on the pc.

Because its all our ( Pc gamers) fault. Because we pirate games so much.
(Yeah... talkin about generalization)
Thats why Crytek wont spent their "exclusive" time to make the Pc version look outstanding... it will look better than the consoleversions...thats all what we hear...and all what we will get.

Consoles do not support DirectX11, yet Crysis 2 is confirmed to have it. Additionally, did you not see the 3D trailer where the textures looked better than all of the console footage shown thus far, and was confirmed by a level designer to be real-time rendered on a PC?

Seems like you're completely disregarding everything that has been shown and released in the form of articles in regards to Crysis 2 to spread your own lack of faith regarding Crytek's game development practices.

Everything you post is just baseless fears without any merit.

Yes, that's the trailer.

http://www.joegarth.com/Crytek.html

The level designer who worked on part of the trailer, who also confirms it was real-time.

What are you talking about? The 3D trailer looks FAR better than ANY console footage shown thus far.

Why Crytek don't make pre rendered Cinematic, like FF13 or SC 2 ?????

This is so better ^^

No need to do that.

Cryengine is powerful enough to produce cinematics at a quality that rivals pre-rendered videos, and having everything real-time is much better anyways.

The second one of course, because it is what you actually get to play.

The first one is just mis-leading marketing garbage, because Starcraft 2 looks nothing like that in-game.

There's two parts to SC2, you've got the RTS side of it which yes, looks fairly ordinary but you've also got the RPG side of it which does actually have some spectacular looking detail. In saying that, it's true that neither look anywhere near as good as that pre-rendered trailer but hey doesn't bother me. I'm not mislead by it at all but damn it's gorgeous to watch.

A ton of people are though, and that's bad.... lots of people actually mistake pre-rendered footage as real-time gameplay.

They're more of the casual variety, but still. Obvious misleading marketing ploy. D:

@ Ultimarage

Better textures and shaders compared to the console version?
So that should be enough to impress me?
Pah thats what almost every crappy consoleport-game offers me right now.
Wow.. i get higher res. and up to 16X AA... nothing new.
I ( and many others) wanted a game that is a worthy successor to the first Crysis.
Pushing all its strenghts to an insane level of awesomeness.
Even this trailer is nothing special...the ingame cutscenes from Crysis 1 are on the same level for me. If you add some mods to it.. the modded C1 will easily beat C2 in very high. ( until "and only if" C2 can be modded the same way of course)

Crysis 1 modded is barely on-par with Crysis 2 at Very High. There are no mods that surpass the quality of that trailer.

I should know, I am the creator of one of the most well-known graphical enhancement mods (the Time of Day files for CCC / CUDAATS).

What do you expect, for Crytek to make some special PC-only title that is completely different than the console versions?

Additionally, don't mount Crytek in with every other multi-platform developer out there. No other developer has been able to make all multi-platform versions at once using one interface - they've all had to make them separately.

One more thing, you've only seen around 3% of the game in total. 3% of the game... yet you know what the game will be all about? Really?

This is still Crytek. Of course this is going to be a worthy successor - it'll actually have a storyline this time around. You act like Crysis 2 has been handed off to some other company.

The 3% of the game we have seen though has not been up to par with what we were given in Crysis 1 (aside from story)...

If Crysis 2 has something much better to offer, then EA and Crytek chose some horrible levels to showcase.
