What other games do you play for multiplayer on Console?

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:00 am

As a change of pace, from the cyclical ranting going on in this bich-fest of a forum (and I am no exception to that) I was wondering what other games does everyone else on here still play via multiplayer on console.

And what other MPers have you played on console that you wish there was still a healthy and active fan base for?

Let's try and keep this thread fairly civil (and that might just mean not ripping on the COD and HALO fanboys for claiming those games are the greatest). This could be a good way to get information on games you've wanted to play but never bothered trying.

I still play MW2, Transformers:WFC, Red Dead Redemption, GTA4, Civilisations:Revolution (If I have 4 hours to waste) and Magic. And the Darkness.

And I wish there were still enough players to find a game with any regularity for AVP, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 1+2, Bioshock 2, FullAuto and Risk.

Transformers WFC is amazing online but its a shame the community is practically dead now with only about 100 people online at a time.

Theres still suprising a hell of alot of ppl on AVP which I played regulary for a while but the glitched alien tail spamming and general in game lag threw me off after 6 months.

I cant stand red Dead online, the game is just so boring and empty and the game modes are the same old garbage, was hoping for a "hijack the Train" game mode. Medal of Honor was also a complete fail and im disliking this linear path that dice are going down with their multiplayer game like for example the bad company games instead of a huge wide open playground we get a funneled map towards and objective and medal of honors maps were essentially meat grinders of camping enemies.

Now I mostly Play Crysis 2 online and Homefront, Killzone 3 doesnt compare to the second for me so my PS3 is gathering dust until the new MK game.

I've got a fair few Aussie mates that all play Transformers, so I don't get much of a wait. But I have to wait 30 minutes for a match in AVP just to find enough players, such a shame, that games multiplayer had massive poetential.

I totally get you on Red Dead being a bit TOO open online, but I still love getting in big a gang and just riding around ****' everyone over. Hijack the Train would have rocked though, but i don't mind the Horse Races..... and the Gambling....

Can't wait for Rage....

i tried Fidning a game on Transformers a while back and I couldnt get into a power struggle session since its my favourite gamemode much like conquest on BF2.

The good thing about AVP is that my friend Steve from London who has a monster 50MB connection usually Hosts games and we get americans and Aussies jumping into our lobby with no lag at all which is pretty amazing, we even had one guy from japan who said it was lag free, which was pretty awesome, shame the game is dried up now and full of try hard kids who use the aliens and spam LB which is really cheap.

Its not that its to open, the game just wasnt interactive enough to be enoyable online, I mean it was roll and shoot this guy then shoot that guy. there was no dynamics i nthe gameplay and with the low amount of guns, lack of maps and game modes it got stale pretty quick.

i dont understand all the fuss about Rage, It just looks like borderlands with a different art style to me. what has got you excited about it?

For me Rage has a HUGE Mad Maxish appeal, from the vehical custimisation to the possiblity of online gang matchs (if they get it working, haven't heard squat about the multiplayer in ages, but there was a video promised to be coming soon).

And to some extent just having ID and Bethesda working together is sustaining some of my hype..... Doesn't seem to be anything worng with a partnership like that.

Im not sure about it, But two games to me that look really impressive are the New Ace Combat game, it looks like a flying game has finally nailed that sense of speed you get while flying though the air are supersonic speeds and finally nailed the proper manouverability of modern jets because in most games they just feel really stiff were in real life they apparently are very responsive and quite sensitive.

Also Shift 2 unleashed looks really good aswell as its direction is based on realistic effects while racing which to me is a more immersive experience than Gran turismo or Forza because to be honest even if your the worlds biggest car enthusiast they get boring after a few races.

Dead Space 2

Motorstorm Apocalypse

Mortal Kombat

The elder Scrolls: Skyrim

uncharted 3

Mass Effect 3

Battlefield 3

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Armoured Core 5 (they are formatting it like Chromehounds which is incredible!)

Transformers Dark of the Moon (Made by High moon studios who made WFC so I have hope despite being a movie game)

Dirt 3

Twisted Metal

Duke Nukem Forever

Gears if War 3

All of those are on my watch list for this Year but mainly for multiplayer il be sticking to Crysis 2 until BF3 and I wont even be listening to any new about a new COD game.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is all I play now, Halo was fun but the MP is stale. (love firefight) I haven't liked a COD since COD4 which was the best and this games MP isn't right. Unless you feel like using an AR or SMG... Which I don't.

The Majestic works really well and is my new favourite weapon because I just love huge powerful pistols.

A silenced sniper in this game is absolutely lethal at clearing objectives especially when combined with Loadout Pro and Visor Enhance so you automatcially mark enemies you miss.

Im not sure if Cloak Tracker works through a sniper scope but it could do and its a one shot while they are in cloak anyway.

If your a shotgun user im afraid they are totally gimped in this game, the underslung shotgun is more powerful than the full blown shotguns so what is the point?

The more excotic weapons like the K volt and XM 43 MIKE are pretty deadly against armoured opponents.

THe only weapons I find useless are the Shotguns, THe heavy MGs while burst fired with energy transfer essential makes you a tank capable of taking on an entire team within reason.

The L - tag is more Bark than bite unfortunetly but actually is rewarding and skillful which is weird for a grenade launcher.

Just Blur, occasionally black ops Zombies. Blur has never had a huge online community and it can be tough to find a running lobby for my favourite gametype hardcoe. But it's still one of the best games and best MP experiences that I've ever had on xboxlive. So sad there won't be a Blur 2 thanks to Activision.

When i first got live was when modern warfare 2 came out, i was like a drug addict rushing home from work to get my daily fix. I was on that for a while and there were a few in between like AVP a little halo 3 a lot halo reach and now crysis. Rule of thumb for me is if the campaign svcks, in my opinion, i wont bother with mp.

THe hype surrounding Battlefield 3 is practically orbiting the planet.

I can help but feel it will dissapoint since people are putting so much faith in DICE especially PC gamers and look what happened to them with this game....

I was playing Dead Space 2, but I beat it already. I always have the recent CoD, but I only play that occasionally now. I'm still working on my workout game for the Kinect and of course I'm playing C2 online.

Dude, I love Transformers WFC multiplayer is amazingly fun except svcks for having no players, darn not enough promotion resulting in collapsing fanbase.

Otherwise I tend to play Halo:Reach sometimes, I am quite done with Halo's mulitplayer and **** of armor-locking like n00b :P The gameplay Halo hasn't evolved much other additions of new features.

Crysis 2 gameplay is big jump from Crysis 1, This is a one strong reason I like Crysis 2 a lot

For me it is all about

BF:BC2

Super Street Fighter 4

AC: Brotherhood : mp on that is completely different to anything else. Very innovative.

RUSE: Civ Rev I occasionally play but RUSE is easily the best RTS on consoles to date. RTS's on consoles normally svck but RUSE has great controls and unit selection mechanics, runs perfectly online, has the options for quick or long games and has a lot of depth. Graphically works really well too.

Tenchu Z. That is it right now.

Halo:Reach is horribly boring now, there is no drive to improve when you start going positive by 9 to 10 kills a winning match.

CoD:Black Ops is a lot of dumb fun, but it is also a bit boring. Little drive to improve.

Tenchu Z will always make me feel better whenever I shave a second off a run in a mission. I always see and feel improvement.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... whoa. This isn't my Batman cup.

Anyway, I see at least 500 people when I put in Transformers. I play it a bit (feel free to add me, GT: Asikokami I usually do really well)

As for AVP I traded it a few weeks after release because I thought it was dead only to fin out last month that people still play it. I owned people as a Predator though the were balance issues such as the battle disk and plasma caster OHK (fixed I heard) the over-powered Marine guns the underpowered flame thrower etc.

@JustDaveMan - Civ Rev has great mechanics for a console turnbased Strategy, I might have to check out RUSE now that you mention it, I've tried a fair few of the console Strategy games but for the most part the controller mechanics just make playing a chore.

@Askokami - They patched the Predator Disk within a few weeks of release and lowered the cooldown by a fair bit, they also made it almost impossible to get the 3 kills from one disk launch that happened in the first few weeks. KR4KKEN has a point about that Alien tail spam though, almost everyone swapped from the Pred Disk to the Alien after the patch, but I've found that it is fairly wasy to overcome just with some straight up Marine assault rifle spammage or a nice healthy shotgun blast.

I swear, AVP had 3 of the best MP game modes ever, Predator Hunt, Alien Hunt and Species Team Death Match....
