What Path of Immortality do You Prefer

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 4:19 am

I would find a way to make a vampire/werewolf/lich/werebear/ hybrid using restoration magic and having corpus to live forever. Maybe if a infected myself with the disease versions of immortality at all at once, and used maybe a random black soul I could become a lich. The if I was ever wounded I could use restoration magic.

Werewolves can die from age.
Spoiler
Look at Kodlak.

Werewolf hands down. Tried vamp...not a magic type...and being normal is kinda boring.

Spoiler
Kodlak is killed by Silverhand.

After doing this I would permanently mantle a daedric prince so I would then be truly immortal.

You forgot "Achieving Godhood" as in Shivering Isles. Since it's not there, I picked Corpus.

I don't really like the idea of becoming immortal - messing with Arkay doesn't seem like such a good idea ...

True, but it's made very clear in that questline that
Spoiler
the whole reason Kodlak is searching for a cure to lycanthropy is that he is concerned about where his soul will end up after he dies. He is getting old and preparing for death and when it happens he wants to go to Sovngarde, not the Hunting Grounds. He *expects* to die in the natural course of things and if being a werewolf conferred immortality this would not be the case.

CHIM, but from the list, Lich.

Adding this as an edit. CHIM is the process by which Vivec became an actual god. In Oblivion/Shivering Isles you BECOME Sheogorath, and Sheogorath in Skyrim is the Hero of Cyrodiil, and even talks about his experiences. Sotha Sil and Almalexia had godlike powers from the Heart of Lorkhan, but the only one that knew the secrets of the universe and didn't decay along with the Heart and Dagoth Ur was Vivec, because he had mastered not only the Heart but the concept of CHIM and the Tower (becoming a Ruling King, as he called it).

This list needs an Other option.

I would prefer Apotheosis, mantling Talos and ascending to the realm of Aetherius to become one with a God!

From the UESP:
Liches are necromancers which have embraced the power of Lichdom, placing their soul in an object called a 'Phylactery', which is usually a Colossal Black Soul Gem. They are always selfish and power-hungry, destroying all in their searches for souls to repair the Phylactery. They are extremely intelligent and are adept spellcasters; along with their random effect staffs, they carry tremendous power and arcane magic. Nether Liches were normal liches, but, for a certain time were weakened by a destruction of one of their Phylacteries. Ancient Liches created more than one phylactery, becoming much more powerful. A Lich is immortal and powerful, always resurrecting if their Phylactery is not crushed.

A lich is a necromancer that turns himself undead. The dragon priests are a variety of lich, albeit they didn't turn themselves it seems but were turned by dragons as a reward for faithfully serving Alduin.

a lich is a powerful necromancer or sorcerer that escapes death by performing a ritual binding their soul to a phylactery, takes a week, then once the transformation is complete they are a lich a corpse that retains all the past knowledge of their human form but is not plagued by the ravising of age or the need to eat or sleep, they are undead, and all lore about them from all universes state that they have power and control over lesser undead, able to raise and command hordes of undead. my ideal character for the elder scrolls. Gosh, this thread is moving fast.

Talos got His power from Lorkhan, as did Pelinal Whitestrake and the Underking (who is rather lichlike himself...). Technically, this is the same place Almsivi got it, except they stole it from the Heart of Lorkhan rather than being a Messiah or avatar of the god.

Why would you want to become a permanent rotting corpse? It must be boring being a lich anyway, being tied deep inside caves/tombs for eternity.

i beg to differ, being a lich would only correspond to certain player types, sure it wouldnt suit a warrior or thief, but sorcerers and necromncers it most certainly does, being a lich has no drawbacks, u need no sustinance u become a little more powerful, they only drawback is that your a corpse, and in order to play the game and complete quests there needs to be a spell to cloak yourself so u can pass for a human, would make the game quite challenging since your magicka would be draining fairly quickly to maintain the spell, i think it would be fun and challenging, like a older mod for oblivion, the lich mod had weaknesses too like 100% fire weakness, holy ground damage.

Lich.

But vampire also feels ok.

However, there was a lore thread discussion the werewolf thing and the conclusion was that you don't automatically get immortality just because you're a werewolf... Since the companions leader is dying of age.
