What wing options did you choose for your main house?

So how many things can you have outside? Can you have a hatchery at every house?

The hatchery is only available at Windstad Manor (Morthal). In Falkreath it's an apiary and in the Pale it's a mill.

I'm actually surprised that so many of you chose the storage room; there is ample storage in these houses (yes, I know, the porch).

Because i want a "normal" house without; mannequins, weapon plaques, mounted heads, trophies... i also don't like the towers because you got that stuff in your house already same goes for the bedroom wing which i don't need... i also got a coffin  which makes for 5 sleeping spots.

Bedroom Porch (for the personal bed-space), Alchemy Tower (for a good look at the lake), and the kitchen (because every house should have a kitchen, duh)

Lakeview Manor i have; Greenhouse, Kitchen, Storage... cause i want to have the "lakeview" terrace.

I will be living there with; Muiri, Sofie, Aleson, Rayya & Eola as my steward.

Scratch that... i'm not taking the risk with the Greenhouse glitch, so Rayya is gonna be my steward.

Morthal - Green House, Alchemy Tower, Armory
Falkreath - Enchanting Tower, Library, and Storage
*Dawnstar - Bedroom, Kitchen, Trophyroom

Felt these were the best options when just looking at them in a geographical sense. (Also wanted to use all of them once.)

Haven't bought the other land yet.

Added first the East Wing Library, then the West Wing Bedroom, and last the North Wing Trophy Room.

I would have much preferred the Enchanter's Tower to the east, the Library Tower to the west and the Armory to the north...with maybe a walkway between the two towers :) buuut, I'll take what I can get at this point!

Greenhouse glitch?

Greenhouse seems to be glitched in Falkreath. Freezes/crashes the game. I'm assuming that's what he's talking about. I don't know if it's for everyone though; I haven't taken the risk. It seems to be okay in the other houses.

For my main house, which is in Falkreath, I chose the Bedroom, Kitchen, and Storage rooms. I enjoy having an actual kitchen with an oven, and I mostly chose the storage room for the porch that wraps around from the back of the house to the side. Great view.

Porch? I missed that. I put in a greenhouse, haven't picked the other two.

Bedrooms, storage area, and kitchen. The greenhouse gave me something I could already use (I have a garden, after all), the enchanting tower is redundant, so I went with the bedrooms+porch. To the north, I chose storage. I can't really see a use for a trophy room, so I just put all of my stuff in there (each item type has its own chest). To the East, I put in a kitchen. It adds versatility, and it's something that I felt was missing from every player home.

For Lakeview I chose bedrooms, storage room, and kitchen. The storage room isn't really needed, but with bedrooms+storage room I get one big outdoor terrace on the west and north side that could host a rather large gathering.

I wish I had realized this earlier. I would have gone with the bedroom instead of the greenhouse. One question, though: can you plant mushrooms in the garden? And do the plants grow back as fast as the ones in the greenhouse?

You can definitely plant shrooms (I won't ask what kind) in your outdoor garden. Whether they grow back as fast...I honestly have no idea.

Since the add-on is new, not too many pictures are online of what each option looks like furnished, so there was only one option for me left to do: do them all! It was time consuming, but well worth it as it gave me the option to see the rooms fully decorated and then plan accordingly.

With that, I settled on the design:
East: Kitchen
West: Enchanter's Tower
North: Storeroom

I finished up my house last night and it looks great. I didn't elect to use every option (put the enchanter on the second floor rather than in the tower), because I didn't want a house too crowded with barrels and chests, but I'm pleased with it.

My newly acquired daughter thinks so, too.

One of these days, I'll actually finish the game.

Tonight, I'm off to do a few quests with Lydia and pad my gold reserves. Once I feel confident enough to explore on my own without a decoy, she'll become my attendant. I need that carriage at my house, dang it.

Porch? I missed that. I put in a greenhouse, haven't picked the other two.

Each wing has three options as you know, but each of the three options also has one of the three building structures.

Tower:
  • Enchanter's tower (east)
  • Library (west)
  • Alchemy tower (north)
Roof
  • Greenhouse (east)
  • Kitchen (west)
  • Trophy room (north
Porch
  • Bedrooms (east)
  • Armory (west)
  • Storage room (north)
If you choose two or more porch options that are next to each other (i.e north + west, north + east, all) then the porches connect

I feel like armory, bedroom, greenhouse and maybe trophy room are the only rooms that have real use. Kitchen makes sense for a family home but other than the new stove it's mainly for looks since you can cook in the fireplace. The storage room I found is the most useless, since storage is practically unlimited and there's tons of it around the house. Same for the towers you still get an enchanters table and alchemist table in the house.

Wish armory would of been in north wing so I could have kitchen and armory in 1 house.

I chose a beds wing ( thinking that I needed beds), a kitchen (thinking that I need a place for my family to eat), and an armory ( thinking that i need to make weapons) and all of that stuff is ALREADY IN THE MAIN HALL!

My new Imperial vamp character:
Falkreath - bedrooms, kitchen and storage room. This is the family home where my char is playing mortal.
Morthal - enchanters tower, armory and trophy room. My vampire hang out, this one also has the coffin in the cellar and instead of the normal shrines the shrine base is covered with bloody rags, skulls and some bloddy cups and a decanter I stole from Volkihar. The fishery is full with slaughterfish!

My Altmer char is in the Pale and has the greenhouse, library and alchemy tower. My other Altmer char is currently building in Morthal too.

My configuration was Greenhouse, Armory, and Trophy room. Too bad my xbox freezes whenever I walk in so I can't even chill in my own house that I moved EVERYTHING into. (Over 20,000) lbs. worth of stuff.

I do the Library, Alchemy, and Bedrooms. In retrospect, the Greenhouse would have been a better choice for my Assassin than the Bedrooms, but I'll deal with what I have chosen. I still love the house, and I have enough storage to alphabetize my entire Alchemy Ingredient list in the numerous containers.

Aside from the run to the Fish Hatchery not even having a dirt path, I'm perfectly happy with Windstad Manor as I've built it. :)

Scratch that... although i didn't have any problems with the Greenhouse at Lakeview manor, i did had some build problems with the other places WTF so i took an older save and only keeping Lakeview as my build house for my main char... but i'm not gonna place my stuff there yet... don't trust the place
