what do you RP as?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:31 am

My character, a Nord from Markarth orginally, with a reachman's name due to his mother being a reach native. Darach never wanted to be a warrior, rather a blacksmith so he jumped at the chance to join the Companions, to be near the Skyforge if nothing else. Despite his heritage in the Reach he's never returned to Markarth, rather making his areas of exploration Eastmarch, Hjaalmarch, Whiterun and the Pale. Despite his apathy and disdain for Clan Battle-Born and his really devoted fan attitude towards Eorland Grey-Mane, distrusts the Stormcloaks. Of course, that might be due to him and Hadvar sharing a drink and swapping stories after the Helgen debacle.

I used to hate Battle Born too, until I got a mission to rescue one of the Battle Born women, who was kidnapped. At the last instant, she joined in on her kidnappers herself and did a killing blow on the Bandit leader. I don't know where she got the dagger from, but it was cool. Not exactly a damsel in distress mission.

I rp as a female Nord companion / dragon slayer. I dont have a husband yet but would like to reside in Riverwood or Whiterun.
I may create another character and fancy becoming a Newton Mage like my former character in oblivian.

The Argonian equivalent of Che Guevera (except on the Empire's side). In an Andre the Giant sized body.
Che Guevara.. on the Empire's side? So basically you are a guy who goes around murdering folks in the name of ideology.

My first time through any game I more or less powergame. I'm getting a feel for the game, for the controls, learning how things work, familiarizing myself with the story, gawking at the landscape, ect. Once I feel I know the game well enough, I begin to roleplay. I look for little niches in the story and the game world into which I can insert a character.

I'll typically start off my roleplaying with a kind of Chaotic Neutral character. Each character after that will usually be a little darker, more sinister, than the one before it. I often wind up with thieves or assassins. Those are the hardest types of characters for me to roleplay and I have to work my way into that mindset gradually.

I have a habit of doing that a bit too. I'd love to just... wing it again in some game though. I used to do that. It ended up resulting in a lot of misplaced gimps, but that's sort of fun too.

I have only one guy.

Jason: Formerly known as Centurian Romulus, Jason fought in the great war against the Dominion, and when they White-Gold was signed, Romulus wasn't happy. He took his men and they started performing guerrilla tactics on the Council, until one day they were caught. As commander of the group, he was going to be given the death sentence, but managed to escape his cell and headed to northern Cyrodill. There, he bleached his hair white and gave himself a war mark to remain hidden, and fled to Skyrim. Captured, he quickly changed his name to Jason, and was afraid that he had actially been caught. When he found out it was just because he was crossing the border, Jason cursed his own stupidity.

After escaping Jason decided to join the Empire, to remain hidden in plain sight. He also decided that the Empire had a better chance if a war broke out again between the Dominion, and that the Stormcloaks would doom Skyrim. He later became a mercenary for the Companions, before joining the circle and even becoming the harbringer. Feeling that brought him too much attention, Jason became a bard to learn about rumors and to gain a little extra coin.

Becoming bored with that, Jason simultaneous joined the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild, eventually leading both of them and uniting them into a super guild. He has been accepted into the College at Winterhold, but his plans were put on hold there when more dragons became to appear, and he found himself the Dragonborn who must stop them.

Speaks-Softly is an Argonian field scholar. Strong illusionist, with decent blade and light armor skills. She is also competent, though not an expert in summoning atronachs as helpers when she finds herself in a tight spot, doing what she does best - tomb raiding. She collects Ancient Nordic antiquities. She has a complete set of embalming equipment, samples of the wrappings they mummified the Draugr in, sets of old nordic armor and different weaponry; Bits and pieces of Dwemer animunculi and weapons; ores of various type; gems of all colors; as many dragon claws and dragon priest masks as she can lay hands on, etc.

There is no book she can leave behind. If it's in a dank, dark dungeon she has to "rescue" the book. Even if it's just to sell it to a good home at a warm and cozy trader. This means dropping the spendy glass greatsword she found, so be it.

She was surprised, and yet tickled to learn she was Dragonborn. She hopes it will bring a new level of respect to her people. But it also opens door to study and learning that would have otherwise been closed to her. And gives her a great opportunity to delve into ruins, read dragon texts, and find interesting bits and pieces to add to her collection.

I was fully expecting to be a JOAT (Jack Of All Trades) on my first play through. I was pleasantly surprised how natural it felt to NOT do that. Consequently my first character was pretty focused.

I RP'd an Imperial. A former officer in the Legion, he "went native" during his Skyrim posting. Fell in love with a Nord woman and was preparing to marry and settle down with her. He was tasked with escorting a Thalmor emissary to Cyrodil and back. Upon his return, he met some scouts he knew at the border. They informed him that his wife and her family had been taken by the Thalmor and executed for Talos worship. He quickly executed his Thalmor charge and disavowed the Empire.

As a well trained soldier, the Companions was a natural fit for post-treason employment. To find renewed purpose, he also joined the Stormcloaks. He didn't touch Thieves Guild, or Dark Brotherhood. He's done work for the College, but didn't pursue anything past Saarthal.

I stayed pretty much exclusively 1H, Block, and Heavy Armor with some Marksman mixed in for practicality's sake. I also decided that prior to his Legion days he had been a blacksmith's son, so I could justify investing in Smithing. I leveled Enchanting as well, but didn't have a satisfying RP reason to do so.

I have three characters, each of them role play a bit different:

My first character: I power gamed him as a wood elf sniper. He was heavy on archery and heavy on sneak. He saved the world, fell in love, got married and was ignored. Then his wife died and he turned evil turning to the Dark Brotherhood. He now spends his days speaking to corpses and killing people.

My second character had a rich backstory. He was a Nord/Dark Elf mixed breed (started as a Dark Elf and pumped him up cosmetically to be as big as I could get him) his father was The Bear's Housecarl (Ulfric's Father) at the age of 30 he left Morrowind to go to Skyrim to search for his father's people. He had just crossed the border when he got caught up in an adventure... he is a battlemage with destructive fire spells and one handed swords and heavy armor.

My third character is me. I was plopped down one day in ragged clothing into the middle of an ambush. I do not use magic and play him as if it were really me, and what I would do in a given situation. Including scream and run away the first time I encountered a draugr.

My second character is an adventuring Breton noble. His family is considered a lesser noble house, without substantial observable influence or wealth. What would surprise most, if they cared to look, would be its longevity. It is one of the oldest noble houses in the Empire in an unbroken line of successors, almost all of which have been of peerless character.

Only family members know how this is maintained, each potential successor raised under the motto "Foundation is all". To qualify for succession, each child upon reaching advlthood must take a journey. Upon their return they are judged by a council of their elders. Order of succession is determined by contribution to the "Foundation" (family) and strength of character demonstrated upon the journey.

So this character is beginning his pilgrimage. Having training in the magical arts, he takes a pilgrimage to the College of Winterhold, where one of his ancestors once studied. Being captivated by craft, he has also resolved not to return home until he has crafted a wonderous artifact by his own hand. An imperishable and mighty artifact would surely serve as a compelling tribute to the Foundation.

I play him as a battlemage. Enchanted heavy armor for defense (and mana cost reduction), Destruction Magic for offense. He's done the College quests and is now proving his loyalty to the Empire by stomping out the Stormcloak rebellion.

My current character is a nord. He's inspired by Aragorn, in that he uses a two handed sword and bows. He's very strong willed and hasn't picked a side in the war, although he thinks the stormcloaks are weakening skyrim against a Thalmor invasion.

A Breton spy, as my name suggests, which gives me the option to go in any direction while playing. Unfortunately my guide got us caught after crossing the border and trying to procure transportation. He died a cowardly death.

I only play one charater.
A young, foxy Nord girl. She's excells in light armor and one handed skills, she's really working on her archery, sneak, and speechcraft. Her home is with the Dark Brotherhood and the Thevis Guild. Overall just a good assassin and theif.

I have role played members of the one family from ES1 Arena. A Dunmer wanderer whom is set upon the world to adventure and see what is there. Only one in a generation seem to be let out, they never know why they are not just asked to stay and help on the Farm. Each one has ended in Prison, or in some form of severe trouble and found inner strength.

They stay on the Good side and in the Light for most of it. They do not go out of their way just to kill, but if facing a force, will use all talents to cut through it.

This one is taking up the stoic, "Oh, I have to be great and save the world just like great ^(5 or 6) Uncle Freazhder. Here we go again." He get freaked by going into major Dungeons and Battles, but realizes that someone must put full effort, and many will benefit from that effort.

A reluctant Adventurer.

Mostly.... that describes my basic RP in these games.... Several families, different races (I have altitis, just ask anyone who's ever played WoW with me....) - all misfits pretty much, sent off to find themselves (and send money home PLEASE....) and incidentally (or not) save whatever was the current iteration of TES.

And that's probably the single main reason I have loved these games from Arena forward.
