What do you think of the Final Battle?(spoilers obv)

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:12 pm

Agreed, Miraak is definatley one of the strongest I've fought thus far. To me, Miraak was only "difficult" with my Nord warrior. My assassins make short work of him. My Mage, well, twin dremora lords and chain lightning, (with a ward up) made it pretty straight forward.

One thing I couldn't figure out was that I know he summons three dragons above you, but do they actually attack you or anything? Or are they just there for him to soul-steal?

Nooooo. Anything but [censored] disarm.

I actually used bound swords just in case he used the Disarm shout.

I thought the final battle was pretty cool, except I was really pissed off that Sahrotaar (the black serpentine dragon you Bend Will shout to ally with) ends up getting killed by Miraak. I was really looking forward to having him as a dragon to call upon for assistance and dragonriding.

Agreed. I was quite sad about that, along with the death of Storn. Nevertheless, those things add to atmosphere and immersion. I remember in Oblivion, my main playthrough, Martin, Baurus and Jaufree all died. I was a depressed champion.. until I stumbled upon a certain door in the middle of the Niben.

True, it does give it a sort of revenge factor for Miraak, who understandably would kill Sahrotaar for his betrayal. Perhaps there other Serpentine dragons that can be found around Solstheim.

It was a fun fight, even if the story was a little bit lacking. Of course, Karstaag will be the only proper boss of Dragonborn for me.

Ebony Warrior outclasses him by a lot.

Though I hated that We could not kill Miraak, And we somehow are now Hermaeous Mora's new minion.

Maybe it's like their goal to make the Dovahkiin a minion of every Daedric prince before they're done adding new content.
I mean we've already got Nocturnal, Hircine, Bal and Mora covered. :D

The final DLC is a huge battle between the princes over the Dragonborn's soul.

Well once I got past the fact that I was doing too much damage to him and I needed to use a significantly weaker weapon (Killed all immersion for me right there) I wwas mostly just annoyed with the whole fight. It was more of a chore than a fight.

There's three words of Dragon Aspect, no?

How about instead of needing to run away like a coward and absorb a new dragon soul to get his health back, he instead uses a new word of Dragon Aspect each time, until he has the full shout's worth of Aspect Armor around him, and then he could just spam shouts at you until you killed him.

There you go, a much better and far less buggy boss fight designed solely by some nobody who has absolutely no experience with programming and game design.

OT, I liked that he stole the souls of Dragons to get HP back, that was neat, but he wasn't a good fight, and Mora taking my kill (If this were halo 'Assist +5' would have popped up) kind of peeved me off even worse. Like, honestly?! 'You put me in ultimatums before, I had no choice but to listen to you, now Miraak is dead, so how about you manifest your ugly ass and we'll throw down right here and right now, because trust me Tentaclepuff, If you thought I took out Miraak like he was a chump, you ain't seen nothing yet.'

I had no problems. How much damage does your weapon do?

Damn, my friend. I'm not gonna tell you how to play, since everyone plays differently and its singleplayer, but I'd suggest cooling it on the op ness a tad. With that, you're one hitting everything, and two to three hitting everything on master if you play master, right? But like I said, if that's your kick, then hey. That's your kick. But you cant really blame the guy who designed the boss fight when you play with a weapon that does that much damage, you know?

I suppose that's only fair. But in all technicalities it's still within the normal-ish realm. I refuse to use the Restoration part of it, just the Alchemy and enchanting part. It's a good balance I find. Just strong enough to make me feel uber, but not so strong that i feel broken.

Although this fight definitely made me feel broken...

And yeah, I don't play on master, I play on Novice. I feel this game eats enough of my time up as is, shouldn't prolong it anymore than I have to.

I was with you til you told me you played on Novice. 665 on Novice? You dont feel over powered like this normally? You made my jaw drop.

But like I said. If that's your kick, thats your kick.

You are seriously complaining about a boss battle when you play on the easiest difficulty with a weapon 6 TIMES more powerful than my epic Bloodskal blade I used to kill him with? Come on dude.. Almalexia with dragon aspect, steroids and 1000 sujamma's couldn't take you on.

The only thing that bothers me (talking purely from a lore standpoint here) is that with Hermy killing him, it kind of takes away that feeling of becoming the 'ultimate dragonborn'. All the indications are that you (well, your character) becomes the most powerful Dragonborn ever...It just would have been nice if you defeated Miraak yourself to confirm it.
