What is your favorite fallout (4) weapon

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 2:56 pm

it does not have to be the strongest or the most optimal, but what fallout (4) weapon do you like the most?

I tend to like the hunting rifle (fallout 3 version) and base laser rifle the most. just seem like a very good post apocalyptic multi purpose weapons.

My shotgun.

The weapon of last resort that saves my bacon when melee starts to go wrong and my health bar is about to expire.

The Overseer's Guardian is by far my favourite weapon fully modded night vision long range scope, I didn't really need any other weapons during my whole game. I named it "BEAST MODE"

Read up on it here: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Overseer%27s_Guardianor just head to vault 81 and buy one xD

Silenced .45 automatic combat rifle.

EDIT: I'll second FrazerSan on the Guardian, although I use glow sights rather than a scope. With this, I rarely use a shotgun.

Powerful (+25% dmg) Plasma shotgun:

Overcharged Capacitor

Improved Scatter Barrel

Marksman's Stock (I just like the look of this one better than the recoil compensating stock)

Laser sight

Does around 260 damage split between ballistic and energy sources. Faster fire rate and about double range of a fully upgraded shotgun, not to mention way less recoil and weighs about 10 lbs less. Plus it just looks and sounds really bad ass. I named mine "Green Goblin" on account of the goo effect.

edit: not 100% sure on the syntax of some of the parts as I didn't have the game running at the time of posting

Hmm this is tough

I'm not sure if i have a favorite but i am a huge fan of the melee weapons.

Either heavy sledgehammer or super sledge. Thats how i wiped out the Brotherhood, crushed their arrogant facist skulls underneath their precious power armor. That was the day Strong learned respect and the Brotherhood learned fear

My Rifleman now swears by his VATS-enhanced Advanced Assault Rifle (reflex sight & silencer). Everyone else just swears at it.

My Amazon swaps between her Wounding Machete for straight-up battles and Pickman's Blade for ninja operations. She also keeps a Rapid Advanced Silenced 10mm Pistol at hand for those little things that are just out of reach. (The character began as a Gunslinger build, then evolved...)

the hunting rifle is a good all around weapon, i don't use it much in fallout 4 but when i do i use a reflex sight and convert it to .38 rounds and keep the wood stock

There are lots of good ones and my favorite varies, but I've recently been having a LOT of fun with Kellogg's Pistol. With all the luck perks maxed I can keep queueing up shots in VATS almost indefinitely. I've got a two shot .44 pistol that hits harder on each shot but against a horde of opponents I can put more bullets in the air with Kellogg's than I can with even the Deliverer.

The first legendary enemy I fought was a Mirelurk, and it killed me. I reloaded. It killed me. I took lots of buffs, switched weapons, worked out a strategy, and tried again. It killed me.

Eventually, I back-tracked to Robotics Disposal Ground, and took the Fatman that I'd left behind because I don't usually use them. Went back. I killed it.

On that legendary Mirelurk was a pipe gun of wounding (i.e. +25 points of bleed damage). It ruled! The mirelurks resisted the actual bullets, but the wounding effect made short work of them. My first Deathclaw died to it. I kept upgrading the gun - as I got better gear, it slowly went from being my primary weapon to being secondary, to trash-sniper. I'm now level 115. I have lots of legendary weapons, but the one gun that hasn't left my inventory, and still sees regular use is that first legendary wounding pipe gun. The wounding effect doesn't really do anything any more, but that gun saw me through so many fights that I'm not putting that thing down.

I like the short-barreled .308 Combat Rifle the best. Too bad you cant build one until level 39! I been hoarding all the .308 ammo for the last 10 levels of this play-through. You can buy the rifle but I didn't notice it on any vendor lists until around level 36.

The Overseer's Guardian is another great example of why Bethesda is a better fantasy game studio than a sci-fi studio. The gun is mechanically IMPOSSIBLE and for a real-life user of guns I just can't suspend my disbelief quite that far in a game that makes many things "feel" quite real (example the spot-on mechanics of the 10mm semi-auto). They actually DO have real life weapons that fire two rounds simultaneously from a single barrel. sort of....but not really. It's called a "squib load". A squib load is a round that doesn't have enough of a powder charge to get all the way through the barrel. The danger is when someone is doing rapid fire and doesn't "notice"....then fires another round....and then...KABOOM. Usually destroys gun/barrel and sometimes the shooter's hand.

The energy weapons in this game I loved at first. But then I found that Bethesda still doesn't clean up the ash piles reliably. I really didn't want my save files bloating up and tired of console deleting them all. So I swore them off and I don't let my companion or settlers use them either.

Anyway it seems to me that Bethesda really didn't wanna hire a firearms consultant as almost all the Legendary Drops are OBVIOUSLY MAGICAL ITEMS and are somewhat nonsensical in what is mostly a sci-fi setting. Of course you can mix sci-fi and magic & I think it would be better if they just did so openly and called then what they are. Maybe even introduce enchanting as a perk? I am mostly kidding here but honestly they should either learn a tiny bit about the basic mechanics of fire-arms and/or hire a consultant. some of the stuff in the game is down-right cringe-worthy. A great example is the .44 revolver. It is obviously a S&W model 29 yet for no apparent reason the protagonist (and ALL NPCs) only fire it SINGLE-ACTION cocking for every round! WHY? Also when you see Kellogg fire the "fateful shot" (dancing around a spoiler here) you hear the spent casing hit the floor! W-T-F???? How does a DA revolver throw the brass out of the cylinder? Really? Also lets look at the mods - a longer barrel does NOT make it easier to hip fire! It would make it WORSE. A shorter barrel is harder to sight with but faster handling. They have this reversed. Maybe that was a typo? Also a longer barrel should increase range and damage (slight on the damage)....not the receiver.

Probably my Wounding Combat Shotgun.

I have low ammo on it, but it's always effective when I'm cornered.
