What is your hardest fight in a dungeon yet?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 6:36 am

That one place where you have to fight the 3 draugr brothers (I think they're brothers). The middle brother with his stupid shout that refreshes at a ridiculously fast speed had me swearing up a storm. Everytime I'd be close enough to swing, he'd shout, send me flying, and reappear across the room.

Somewhere in a snowy mountain i fought a dragon, after consuming most of my potions i saw a word wall > cool, lets learn a new shout. Next think i know the door of a coffin flung into the air and a dragon priest with a meteor spitting staff gazed on me with his fiercely blue eyes. After a lots of reloading due to death i swore to return.

Yeah, Krosis was one tough mutha . . .

I fought 5 draugr death overlords, 2 arch necromancers, 1 ice wizard, 1 storm wizard, a few draugr....errrrrrrrr wights i think they are called, some skeevers, and a volkihir or whateer they are called vampire, in a tiny scaffolding hallway that was no larger than 2 feet by 6, ridiculous, and I had two arch necromancer thralls, so many spells flying everywhere, and I was in the middle of it all, thank god for resistance potions, lol. Oh yeah and the death overlords all had the shout that makes you fly 20 feet....so that got a bit silly.

I'm not too far yet so the hardest for me was a draugr deathlord with a shout that disarmed me... Three times! I ended up killing him with the sword of one of his lower draugr minions that I beat to death with my fists. I then spent the next few minutes searching the room for my scattered weapons.

Probably the final Gauldar (sp?) fight, where there are a bunch of them, all shouting FUSRODAHs at me, meaning I'm spending 80% of the time pulling myself off the floor.

The next would be right inside Liar's Retreat with like 6+ (approx. - I didn't count, but there were a LOT) Falmer Shadowmasters at once. I reloaded after about 5 tries and told my follower to wait outside - he would die every single time. Probably the toughest non-boss fight yet.

Spoiler
The battle with the 3 Gaulderson's
One of them has a ridiculous unrelenting force shout that sent me flying numerous times. To make matters worse he has numerous look-a-likes (all with the same shout) which made it a shell game. If you hit one of the pretenders they all disappear and move around before reappearing.

This. On my first character I spent an hour trying to beat this part. They would shout me in the air like a rag doll and kill me. On my second character I found a clever way to beat them, easily.

Theres tons of deadly foes in Skyrim dungeons. Some of the worst that get my survival adrenaline going are-

Spriggans
Bears
Magic users
Bandit leaders
Master vampires

Its also interesting to see how more dangerous outside enemies can be compared to their dungeon counterparts. Dungeon spiders are pretty easy to defeat but run into a spider or two in the wilderness and am in for a major fight. Nice variation on strength there.

I just remembered that I had a [censored] of a fight with a Hagraven when going after the sap for the tree in Whiterun. The Hagraven was blasting me with great accuracy from a distance with a firebolt spell and when I got in close her claws were deadly. I ended up running in a continuous circle around her slicing at her while flaming her with the flame spell, she went down and my health was extremely low. That was tough.

lol lets be honest.. that IS cheating :D.

If you play on Master, and you're under lvl 5 and do 1v1 against the spider in Bleak Falls, that's pretty tough. It does a decent amount of damage if you're not blocking, and the poison is like BOOOOOOOOOPPPPPP health drained. :) Actually anything that does over time damage on Master is a huge pain. Dragon breath, poison, regular magic (unless you have resistances of course)

Anytime involving being outnumbered by Draugr Deathlords or the higher-rank Falmor. It's always the combination of heavy hitters up front and archers in the back that cause me trouble.
That's the same for everyone it seems.

I'm tied up between the archer in the Gauldur Amulet quest and the Deathlord in Saarthal (on a low level, Ebony Claymore AND disarming shout! Only way I beat him was by backpeddaling constantly to avoid being hit)

Bar none.

Mostly because it might be the first time a new player ever meets a Falmer, much less a Centurion due to it's proximity to whiterun.

My very first character, a 15 level shield wielding warrior was pressed hard. Very hard. The Falmer Gloomlurker, who I honestly thought was a unique boss can kill me in 3 full unblocked hits, 6 if blocked. The Centurion will end me instantly with his stream attack. And healing potions are a premium at that time. But my pride won't let me lower the difficulty (already only adept) nor back down.

How I won? With a 5 second paralyze poison, the only one I ever found up to this point. I gambled it all.

First I sneak behind them to the back of their chamber which leads to a passage that overlooks a waterfall. Then I lured the Falmer over and get this ... paralyze the bugger, jump over him, get a few weak swings in and finally Fus him down the waterfall. He had over 80% health at this point and I basically poke him to death with my bow. The centurion was dispatched via poking again because he was too big to fit the passage. I thought I was going to run out of arrows at one point.

I think the hardest fight I had in a dungeon was that one where I kept getting killed all the time....Yeah that one was hard.

The dragon cult quest.
I see it was already mentioned, it's Forelhost.
It's the dungeon on the farthest southeastern mountain on the map.

I'm not too far into the game, but I entered a dungeon that was full of Draugr that I had to kill to get to some Ceremonial Weapons. There was a draugr magician that took quite a bit of effort to kill, but I got it done and killed the rest of the easy Draugr that were all around. Then I entered a room that had a Draugr Deathlord in it. I wasn't expecting what was about to happen. First, it Fus-roh-dah'd me, and it took about 30 seconds before I got back up again, which is when it ONE-SHOTTED me with its bow. I had never been one-shotted before. Especially not with full dragon armor. I left and haven't returned since.

Forelhost. I died a ton in that game even with a follower, had to devise a lot of strats to win in there. I was playing pure mage though so had no armor. I'm not so weak anymore :)

The Rahgot one was the worst so far. That and the one for the Galdaur (you know the one!)

It took me 3 hours as a stealth character to get through the rahgot one and i had to use a staff of wall lightening on him and switching to my duel weilded absorb health maces to get myself some health back!

Forelhost has some of the toughest enemies in there, including Rahgot. Try beating that without spawning soldiers.
That's the one I've been ahving trouble with. I suspect though, it's probably just because I wass careless about the fight. Sometimes I'm just not paying attention in a major boss fight, and iI get my Butt handed to me. Usually on a second try, I concentrate more and do better, but I haven't tried this with Rahgot yet. I'm pretty much trying to get a little more skilled first.

I was doing one of the Thieves guild quests with a certain guildmaster, and the Dungeon we were in was packed with dragur deathlords. I didn't have any potions(forgot to stock up) so I had to tough it out. Well that was the first and only dungeon where I had to run for my life after my companion went down. I mean I literally ran all the way back to the front of the dungeon while casting flaming familars to keep the deathlords at bay. It was intense and awesome .

I remember my first fight in Shimmermist Cave. Its where I first found out Lydia could die. That Centurian destroyed us boh.
