In DAoC, there was a lot of organized campaigns, especially with Relic Raids (Relics were items that gave the owning faction a bonus to everyone, such as +2% DPS and were kept deep in enemy territory). Several groups (each group was limited to a max of 8 people) would have certain jobs, like blocking incoming defenders. Now there weren't particularly groups that were formed a certain way, such as all warriors, all crowd control, all buffers, etc. Reason being was because individually provided benefits would only work for the group you were in, more or less. There were a few exceptions, such as resurrecting killed players or even healing, but instead of using a group window, which made things a lot easier, you'd have to spot them out in the world, click on them individually, and do whatever you do. So groups would always have to have at least 1 healer, 1 buffer, etc. Now the stealthers were a different story, they could get by with just stealthers alone, mainly because they just went invisible to the enemy and didn't have to worry about ranged combat too much until they started attacking, which often they could make their strike, escape and after a certain amount of seconds passed, go invisible again. However, in a large campaign, they'd often include a healer that stayed back with the main throng of people. Stealthers would climb keep walls and harrass/take out wall defenders or key players, such a healer.
