What is your name?

Post » Fri Jul 27, 2012 1:47 am

I see a lot of people still only want to be known on a first name basis. I'm not sure what the fear is. Amazon encouraged real user names awhile ago and now Google is implementing real names into YouTube (which in theory should cut down on all the stupid comments (racism, etc.) especially when maybe potential employers will start scanning YouTube comments). Problem is it's entirely optional right now and I see very few people on YouTube using their name.

For me it's not a fear of letting my name be known, for me I just don't like my name much. I guess being around it for 19 years, being surrounded by similarily named people, it seems boring and bland.

I've already done this at the "Introduce Yourself!" thread... besides, it isn't that hard to figure out.

Internet anonymity allows free speech (such as academic criticisms of Islam, however I want to make it clear I am not endorsing those on this forum) that if names were introduced could lead to murders.

My name is Tom.

You can call me Oreo, BK, or Brandornius. Those are the names I go by. I only use my real name for formalities.

When you use a pink pony for an avatar, things like that happen...

I'm a guy, the Pinkie Pie in the Helmet was just the most "Borg"ish I've any any of the ponies in the show so I just went with it. though I can't really imagine why a girl would want "Rusty Gunn" as a Screen name unless they didn't want to be known as one

My real name is Joel, although Tycho is my most commonly used pseudonym on the internet. I chose it because I'm part Greek (Tycho is a Greek name which matches up with my Greek last name) and also because the Fallout series is my favorite video game series (Tycho was a character in Fallout). It means "hitting the mark."

well i know one female member of these forums chose a name that sounds like vomit, so why not a rusty gun?
