whats your favorite archetype

I want to see their stats and emphasized skills before I decide.

On looks? The Anger is a ninja. What's not to love about that?

Each Archetype doesn't have their own stats and emphasized skills dude.

Unless you mean by body type. Then yea I guess, but you can change that in an archetype once you choose them? :ermm:

Well I can help you then:

There are no stats associated with clothing, it's there entirely for aesthetic purposes.

Har. You be funny, bro.

I was referring to the actual archtype's stats and skills. I imagine the G and the Dude are different somehow, even though they are both Light characters. Or the Fortress and the Sweat, or the Warrior and the Firestarter. I want to know what those differences are. It would be rather pointless to create Archtypes if they're wasn't some difference between them.

No, no archetypes have their own stats and skills. They made archetypes for people to customize off of them.

None whatsoever. It's purely 100% cosmetic. The reason for them is just for a base character until you unlock enough stuff to customise to your hearts content.

I'm being quite serious actually. The only 'point' behind the archetypes is to give a sense of individuality instead of having everyone look the same.

Also, archetypes aren't limited to one body type - you can have 'The G' as a light, medium, or heavy.

I honestly like having the clothes not affect stats - let's me dress for how I want to look instead of how I want to play.

A lot of people in WoW look hilariously mismatched.

Back when I played WoW, my mage wore http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__GpeMo77bfU/RjQNe4d-QxI/AAAAAAAAAGw/yyceo9IDbog/s1600-h/mage.jpg for quite a while until WotLK came out.

Oh, and when WotLK came out, I changed my main to paladin. My main spec (Protection) armor looked pretty nice, and my Holy set didn't look too bad, but when I first started gearing up my Retribution spec set, I was forced to use http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rjtr92WzMCo/SNReJztBMrI/AAAAAAAAALM/cWtVidxv5lI/s1600-h/PaladinTier7.jpg

EDIT: Oh, and I found a couple of screens from my old days of running Mount Hyjal, before I started getting a set that at least matched. It's kind of hard to see since I'm zoomed out kind of far though. And my meter is kind of in the way.

Anyway, enjoy.

Wow my UI looked horrible back then...

I never said that the clothes would have affected them. I was wondering if the archetypes played a similar role to race in some fantasy MMORPGs: yes, completely customizable, but with subtle starting differences in stats that made (for example, in DDO) Elves more prone to be rangers, Halflings more prone to be rogues, and Warforged more prone to be fighters or barbarians. Yes, the stats didn't make all that much of a difference (it's possible to run a successful Dwarf sorceror despite his penalty to charisma) but still, you usually select a race with the stats to complement your class. I was wondering if archetypes did the same thing in Brink; had a base set of strengths and weaknesses for you to work with as you played your character. Apparently not. My apologies.

Oh, you meant the character itself instead of the clothes it comes with? I suppose I can see how you'd assume that, but the answer still remains the same - appearance is entirely separate from statistics.

Also, I assumed you meant the clothes as well because all of the clothes are named after the archetype who starts with them. Meaning when selecting the Bug's mask for a different character, it will actually be called 'the Bug'.

Thank you for the clarification.

I figured the clothes weren't that big of a deal, since we can customize any part of the character without it affecting our perfomance in gameplay (aside from build size). I therefore thought the actual base character may have some pros and cons to it.

So if archetypes only provide a base appearance to start character customization with, I guess I don't understand the need for them, since we can simply start with a random generation of a character and customize him in any style within his faction (http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Archetypes). But I won't argue the point; it's in the game, there's no point trying to change it now (especially since it's probably already being mass-produced).

I think - and this is just me guessing - the archetypes exists mainly as a way showcase the different outfit options. It would also make sense that they exist as a way to organize the clothing options by a more memorable name than "Jacket No.1."

"I love jacket No.3" would be pretty stupid....they're just base bodies to give you a start.

From a dev-quote I understood that each Archetype resembles one character's persona which appear in the campaigns.

Based on cinematic trailer: For resistance, it would have to be the Warrior just because he flips over a rocket, jumps over a wall whilst grabbing a rocket and shoots some big-ass guy with a rocket launcher but still dies. For Security... I would have to say... the.. um. Forgot his name, the one with the treach-coat. The Freak? Him because he's a wimp and waits until everyone dies to shoot the remaining survivor!

Based on looks: Purely would have to go for Bug, although not with the green and yellow mask. I saw a photo with him having some other mask options, with pure black coloring. Black eyes & mask, looked lush. For Resistance.. has got to be The Wasted just because he looks like an 80s hippy who never sleeps ;D Also. Did anyone see Wasted in the cinematic trailer? I don't recall seeing him, myself.
