Where are the Goblins?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:34 pm

My character is at level 79.

I've seen no mention of Goblins anywhere. Where is a reference to the Goblins? They were all over the land in Oblivion. Every other "race" seems to have made it to Skyrim.

Remember the 'Goblin Wars' questline? That was great! (For those who don't remember: It was the 99% complete quest gamesas wrote into Oblivion that a modder had to finish so we all could play it)

No ... no ....

The origin of the Falmer was explained. They are not Goblins. The game programmers may have used some similiar behavior program modeling code, but that's it.

Goblins don't have a health plan which provides them with free immunisations. Therefore, up north, they fear flu

Everyone knows the Falmer aren't Goblins. Falmer ATE the Goblins. Though if the saying "You are what you eat," is true, then I guess the Falmer technically are Goblins.

Pretty much this.
Just like there's no Kangaroos in Scotland, there's no Goblins in Skyrim.

Personally, I'm convinced that Goblins are yet another monstrous branch of the Meric branch of the Ehlnofey family tree. Orcs were revealed to be Orsimer. Falmer were degenerated under conditions of slavery. Khajit, according to their own lore, share ancestry with the Bosmer. Dumer are, themselves, changed from the Chimer. In Tribunal, it was revealed that the Altmer often use Goblins as troops, that there is some kind of relationship between them. Elves just seem to be so malleable (both in TES, and in other fantasy mythologies, with the Elf/Orc connection going all the way back to the original source for both races in their modern form), it's easy to imagine Goblins are yet another kind of Elf.

There need to be rats to herd for there to be goblins.

Afaik, the goblin war was vanilla and worked without any mods.

Goblins don't live so far north, its too cold.

I do miss minotaurs though. One would think they could thrive in cold environments.

Falmer/Banditti/Drauger and the occasional Go-bot. Sorry, no goblins... or ogres for that matter.

Nope. The goblin wars were never implemented. Another case of the Prima guide being done before final release.

In my unmodded game there are battles between rival clans if you steal a staff from one clan and take it and leave it in another clans lair. Goblins will run across the game to the lair where their staff is and battle until all of a clan are dead. I didn't know there was meant to be more than this.

Edit: I just read the wiki which says this doesn't work with vanilla games, so nevermind. I probably played an unvanilla game at some point.

I was pretty disappointed when I read that wiki page. The first time I encountered goblins, I spent hours packing that damn totem around trying to spark a war.

I said they ate the Goblins, devoured for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The places that goblins would prefer to make their homes are also places Falmar would also inhabit. Thus I conclude the Falmar would have eaten the Goblins.
