Where to find katana? : V

Where can I find the katana and dai-katana weapons in Skyrim? They were available in both Morrowind and Oblivion (and Daggerfall for that matter), so I'm assuming that they exist in Skyrim as well. What locations should these be found in, and what sort of NPCs wield these? Also, is Goldbrand obtainable, and are there tanto and wakizashi in the game?

I only saw one on an NPC but haven't found one myself yet.
So they are there. That's all I can tell you.

I have found a Katana style sword called "Dragonbane" it has 20 extra damage on dragons and 10 point shock damage to others. It is found in Sky Haven Temple. Works really good on dragons! Lol. Looks cool too with the electricity.

You may want to venture into Bloated Mans Grotto I got a lovely Akaviri Katana by the name of Bolar's Oathblade, I got this at about level 6-8 and im now level 26 and have not come close to replacing it.
The Grotto can be found on the mountain south of Whiterun, on the north side of the far west wide of the mountain.

Its full of Spriggans and bears with a few wolves.
Plus the place looks sooooo pretty

Im pretty sure theres one in that Blade Dilannies (sp) basemant hanging on the wall.

Looks like a Katana to me. I think i grabbed it after the Thalmor Embassy quest. Just hanging on one of those weapon hooks in her secret room.

Now, I'm wondering if I can find a two-handed (dai) katana. I think a lot of the ones mentioned here are the one-handed kind. Can anybody describe whether or not the katana they found is two-handed or one-handed? Thanks, two-handed swords is a skill I just happen to be better at, that's all, and most real life katana are wielded with both hands.

You may want to venture into Bloated Mans Grotto I got a lovely Akaviri Katana by the name of Bolar's Oathblade, I got this at about level 6-8 and im now level 26 and have not come close to replacing it.
The Grotto can be found on the mountain south of Whiterun, on the north side of the far west wide of the mountain.

Its full of Spriggans and bears with a few wolves.
Plus the place looks sooooo pretty

What were the enchantments on this weapon?

The one from Bloated Man's Grotto is a single-handed weapon. However given that it's a Katana I can get prior to starting the main quest it has great value to me at least. Thanks to the guy who posted it

. Though I am still searching for that Katana from the loading screens, unique looking with a black hilt, definately not an enchanted Blades Katana.

I beleive that the katana you speak of is a Daedric artifact.

Its the ebony blade its a 2h katana, i have it , its in the basemant of dragonsreach , its from a quest, go to the in in whiterun and ask about rumors and you will get a quest about the jarls kids , do it and you will get the katana its awesome.

Holy crap. I just got the Ebony Blade after taking this quest and I am tempted to switch to 2 handers JUST to use it. Apparently whenever you kill a follower with it the sword grows in power. I killed Faendal with it and it instantly went up 2 points of damage. This appears to be the ultimate murderer's weapon lol.

Yeah,that's not happening at all for me with it. I have killed like five-nine people who fall under the requirements for upgrading it(even got the occassional comment from the Whispering Lady) and there has been no change in the amount of damage it does. It just stays at 14 damage(taking into account perks and enchanments) This from the weapon that I was hoping would make it worth continuing as a 2-handed great sword wielder. There seems to be a ton of 1 handed blades and axes,but few 2 handed great swords and few of them can stand up to Daedric gear.

it almost makes me want to start over so I can go sword and shield.

Hmm -- so you are killing current followers? People who are following you at this exact moment? And the blade is charged up with magicka (if that's even necessary)? All I know is, I picked up the sword, saw it did 17 damage, then immediately turned toward my follower and killed him. There was some sort of red effect that swirled around him as he died, and then bam -- I looked at the sword again and it did 19 damage.

guys i cant seem to get the quest about the jarls kids, i've spoken to the inn keeper but she gave me another quest about nettlebane.
completed it and cant ask her for any other rumors

Been searching for that place and cannot find it. Is the entrance at the base, midpoint or top of the mountain. Any specifics you could provide would be great.

Feandeal, Alvor(after doing his blacksmith tutorial/quest) Gerdour, The blacksmith girl in Whiterun(did that delivery quest for her) Amell in whiterun(who's family sword I found and returned) the Brother and sister who ask you to help them with the golden claw, and Lydia.

The sword makes it's comments,but there is no damage increase. Also it doesn't seem to ask for a recharge. So this is now sounding like a bug that I am experiencing instead of just doing it wrong.

Due north of Falkreath there is a lake, that feeds into the river that runs back up towards Riverwood. The grotto is north of that lake, on that little mountain there. I believe it was on the north facing side of the mountain, I actually went through a pass from the lake side.

Any word on other katanas in the game, and where one may be able to look for them? What about an un-enchanted katana that you could enchant yourself?
