Where would you want to build your house?

Anywhere in the holds available for building where the terrain is flat enough... When the home silhouettes becomes green, click, boom.

Depends on which character I'm playing.
Indeed, this is the answer I go for as well.

The Rift
Falkreath Hold
The Reach (though I don't want it to be of Dwemer design).

Not real crazy about having a winter home, though some areas are still nice looking.

Depends on the character.

Ideally, if it could be anywhere: near Riften, perhaps with a lovely view of that lake.

From the locations that are in the game, I really dig Falkreath and was pleased to see it as an option. But some characters might not fit with that. The isolation of the Pale is appealing. And Hjaalmarch has its charms, along with being a handy spot for an alchemist. They're also overlooked locations, so this gives players a reason to check out these areas and appreciate them. I like them myself, but the lack of a player home in these areas is a bit inconvenient at times.

Edited to add: I probably hit on why these places were chosen. Having no player houses in the first place makes them better candidates for building such houses rather than having redundant structures.

Looks like the Falkreath plot is on the shore of Lake Ilinata, south of the Lady Stone. This is one of my favorite spots in Skyrim. I fell in love wih Riverwood and I'm thrilled to be able to have a house on the lake that feeds the river to the town.

Well I would like to build a little cabin in the woods on a mountain side where I could bake pies and serve them and coffee or ale to passe-rbys while we swapped a few lies.

But I guess I'll have to check out the locations offered and select my favorite spot among them. Land is sometimes hard to come by and they aren't making anymore. Sort of like it is when you buy land in real life. Gotta sometimes settle.
Then Beware of little disgusting bosmer pie thieves :3 Also is it conifirmed or not that it is already set locations where you can build. I believe it is but i still hope you can build pretty much whereever you want within these holds. That question keep coming up in my head..

Umm, land is a commodity you know and there are many places in real life I would have liked to build my home irl but we had to buy some that was available. I've no clue but I would think land would be the same in Skyrim....mostly owned by others with a few pieces of prime property left to choose from.

Awwww yeeeaaah. That's a very beautiful area. Sometimes there are places that make you stop running around or clapping butterflies out of the air or whatever and go, "this is really majestic". Made me wish camping out with bedrolls and a tent was an option more than once, nevermind building a house.

Well you're going to be disappointed because the known three are Falkreath, The Pale and Hjaalmarch. No beautiful autumn trees for you!
Hmmm. Guess I'm mistaken. I still think there's going to be a plot in The Rift though.

Falkreath, teeming with wildlife, finding food to feed my family wouldn't be hard there.

I'd also like a house in the mountains of the Reach... aside from the crazy hillmen that live there.

Okay. I knew it was pretty obvious but i asked Gstaff if there were set locations or if you can build your house wherever you want within these three holds. He said set.

In between The Reach and Whiterun. Near Rorikstead, I like that area.

I don't think it's a coincidence that you can buy land in three of the four holds where you can't buy houses in the city. And the fourth houseless hold is Winterhold, where you can unlock the top floor of a castle.

With Hearthfire, you can now live in any of the nine holds.

Buying it from specific characters in the holds available for building I guess.
Yeah that makes sense. I read a bit more on the blog post by the devs and it seems like it's limited to three locations but maybe it's multiple plots of land within those locations? That would be cool.

And also I guess I got lucky because anywhere in Hjaalmarch is a good spot for at least two of my characters. :bunny:

Only if you ride your pony upon the boat.

( I don't imagine anyone will get that reference)
