Where do you go when you die?

Post » Wed Sep 23, 2009 3:54 pm

The Dark Brotherhood is full of it.

I'm not so sure about that, the makers of the game and the DB questline just didn't fleash out the idea very well. With all that goes on in TES I could envision an entity like Sithis devouring the souls of the murdered.

And the Necromancers do die when/if they ultimately become Liches. But instead of their souls departing into the Dreamsleave, it gets traqed into their body. Gotta make you wonder who would desire that kind of existance though.

The DB is full of it because Sithis is a concept that symbolizes change. It basically is change. So in reality, Sithis devours us all, as does Auniel. Sithis really has nothing to do with murder though, and I don't see how change would care specifically on murder.

I'm sure tons of people would desire the Lich existance. People who would rather live forever than live for real. There are a lot of these type of people.

Unfortuantly it's bull. The Dark Brotherhood is an offshoot from the Morag Tong, which with aid of Mephala created a philosophy based on a merger of the Altmer concept of Sithis, limitation, mortality and the Daedric principle of action. As a result, they see murder as the highest act because they actively cause death.
The Dark Brotherhood became isolated from it's original philosophy when the Morag Tong was outlawed and the philosophy of Sithis degenerated from the Aldmer concept into a god of it's own.

As such there never was a god Sithis. This is also most apperent in the varriety of descriptions that the Dark Brotherhood members give of Sithis and it shows that Sithis has never shown himself.

As I said before, there is no one particular place that they go when they die. There's different places.

Or is it one place? Is it just a matter of how people percept that "place", based on how they expect it to be? :P

Proweler, wasn't it you who posted that theory some time ago? Or was it Brian? I don't remember.

But even some of the most ancient spirits will sometimes show up on Mundus, remarkably sane and coherent. It seems that if there is reincarnation, it is purely optional.

It's kinda like an really extreme form of Nihilism but with more killing and less leather.

What does nihilism have to do with leather? Just because one finds life pointless does not mean they dig bondage.

But I guess it helps.

I don't get it.

It's from a comedic movie known as The Big Lebowski.
It has some leather-clad german nihilists in it as well as people saying and doing funny things.

I get that. But some of the quotes didn't really make sense in the context of the film or Nihilism...

So basically, most people get reincarnated and don't remember their past life, some peoples souls get svcked into soul gems (If thats how they died), some people become undead, and some people go to their patron dieties realm...

Am I wrong?
