I went with Preston first playthrough. He was... underwhelming as both a regular companion and a romance. I'm going for Hancock this time around. I've heard good things.

Although... I've been traveling with Piper for awhile and now I'm having trouble deciding. I adore her.

Piper. She's so charismatic and smart, with her heart in the right place. A perfect fit for my character since he shares the same ideals.

but what one will you marry? I saw a scene where a man and robot go hitched by the priest in diamond city. so does that mean we can take said romance follower to priest and get hitched?

I romanced Piper, then Cait, and then Curie. I have them at different settlements. Piper stays at Sanctuary and Cait stays at the Castle. Curie is a little buggy though. She refuses to stay at any of my settlements. If I try sending her to one of my settlements it'll say "Curie is going to (whichever settlement)" but then she just runs back to Vault 81 anyway.

I'm currently working on maxing out the other companions affinity for me. I maxed Preston out just a couple days ago, but didn't pursue the romance option. I'm a straight dude and so is my character, so I won't be romancing the male companions lol

I will say though, the gender/race blind nature of this game is awesome and very progressive. I don't want to romance the male companions, but it's awesome that it's an option for those who swing that way.

Omg he totally looks like him in that outfit! Yeah... Danse is quite handsome... Do you (or anyone else) know if you can get him out of his power armor without console commands? I'm not on a PC and I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

I had Cait, Piper, AND Curie. All interchangeable. If I had to pick though probably Curie, but some of the dialogue for Cait during combat and stuff is really cool.

None at the moment but I'll probably romance curie just to get her quest and also so I can get the achievement.

Yeah, i don't get why Deacon is not a romance. A cute, compulsive liar - I dated that in real life... immersion! Preston just didn't interest me - too "dad" like and responsible. I was okay with Macready until I realized he was the little twerp mayor of Little Lamplight. That was a pretty cool throwback, Bethesda. Also, he's just not that into me as a romance, tho I maxed out his affinity and we're good friends. I guess I blew the charisma check. Oh well. Didn't make or break the game for me.

I've maxed out Deacon and Cait and Codsworth as well. Strong was just kind of too stompy and annoying. Curie was kind of meh for me, but I did not realize you could transition her. That's interesting, and one of the reasons I am moving this to spoilers. Cait and I are besties, which is cool. Deacon has been my favorite companion so far - I think he has more lines than some of the other companions.

I have not done much for Hancock, so he is not available as a companion yet, but I won't romance him... lips are a requirement for my character. Mostly though, romance options in games just make me giggle like a 12 year old because they are sooo awkward. Yeah, i am looking at you Jacob and Femshep, among others.

I'll romance all of them, but Curie stole my heart.

I think PS4 and Xbox 1 should get access to console commands in 2016? Other than that, not sure how you would get him out of his PA on a PS4.

It likely varies from player to player (maybe CHA is a factor?), but I got her quest long before I maxed out my relationship with her.

Im playing a female character now and i had the chance too romance MacCready but i turned him down . if your a male and have the opertunity too romance him as a female turn him down just for fun ... it was so real lol

i always play "good" so she has no problems with me and i went from companion to hey baby in barely anytime at all as she likes/loves helping diamond city dudes which chances are since you pick her up there you do the quests there (i did) and she likes lockpicking, theres tonnes of locks everywhere

only thing is im generally a dirty unrepentant thief in these games so i cant steal anymore cause she doesnt like that oh well but sooooo tempting gaaahhhhhhh

cait instantly annoyed me when i found her (was with piper already any way) and although curie voice is sixy shes a floating eye robot (spoiler thing but yeah i already have piper and i like her)

Eh, this isn't like what BioWare does. It's got minimal impact on the game and takes virtually no effort on the player's part. The hardest part is remembering which companions don't like certain things. Piper doesn't like when I steal everything that's not bolted to the floor, while Cait loves watching me pick locks. She's naughty.

My current companion is one that you can only get after a certain point in the story (hint: black guy, long coat, not Preston). If you travel to the wrong place with him , things turn hostile really fast. Whoops. Should have seen that one coming.

I've got the perks from Hancock and Deacon as well, but no actual romance there. Just BFF's.

The only companions I've met are Piper, Preston, Danse(don't have him yet), and Deacon. Deacon would be my top choice at this point but for whatever reason you can't hit the sheets with him. Really he strikes me as the most interesting/cool companion so far.
