Which house is your favourite?

I would say in order of likability:

1A. Vindrel Hall - I just like the way it's laid out, if it wasnt for the fact that you have to climb all those stairs it would be #1 alone
1B. Honeyside - For cozy feeling it's the best, just sitting on the porch watching the lake is enough to give this one a #1 ranking
3. Proudspire Manor - For it's versitility, the layout needs some work
4. Hjerim - a true warriors home (once it's cleaned up), the problem with this house is that it promises more than it delivers
5. Breezehome - The layout puts it last on my like list. I just dont think this one was well thought out compaired to the others.

In order of usefulness based on storage space and ease of use:

1. Proudspire Manor
2. Vindrel Hall
3. Hjerim
4. Honeyside
5. Breezehome

Breezehome for it's centralized location and storage. I tried Honeside but it's still glitchy for me.

You might say i'm way behind but i'm not! I just take every small detail in which means I haven't seen all the houses yet but i'd have to go with my current house Proud spire Manor . It just feels safe and nice especially after a day of dragon fighting and dungeon crawling!

Why are smelters so rare in the cities?

This mod gives all the blacksmiths all of the smithing craft tools. I recommend it! http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9511

I prefer Proudspire Manor, since Its spacious and luxurious. And it reminds me a bit of Rosethorn Hall.

Hard to say, I like all the houses.
Vlindrels Hall is the most unique.
Honnyside and Breezehome are generally nice and are in two of my favorite holds.
Hjerim is homey and cozy after it has been cleaned.
And I love the Imperial influence in Proudspire Manor and Solitude in general.

Vindrel hall, no contest. Once it is all gussied up, it is the warmest looking, super secure seeing as it is at the top of the stairs with no back way in and its totally made out of stone. The view from your porch is outstanding.

looking warm is important to me. The fire place lights up the whole sitting area with red/orange warm glow.I mean it is Skyrim after all, frostbite capitol of tamriel, so the idea of "going home" to rest up, warm up, and do some resaerch or prepare for your next outing with the craft stations should be rather important.
