Which do YOU prefer? Volkihar Vampires... or the... Dawnguar

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:45 am

I have asked all my friends, and a majority of them like the Volkihar Vampires.
Well - now I am asking YOU prefer - The Volkihar Vampires or the Dawnguard?

Here is my opinion:
I didn't mind the Volkihar Vampires Questline - and Serena is a reliable follower, seeing as she is an essential character. But when you have done the questline, and made people Vampires - it gets a bit boring.

On the other hand, the Dawnguard Questline is more fun, unlike the Volkihar Vampires Questline, it is more fun and you don't have someone saying "The Feast never ends here at Castle Volkihar..." Grr... That gets on my nerves. More importantly - you get more followers from the Dawnguard. I believe that Crossbows can only be forged at the Dawnguard forge, so I think that is another reason to become the Dawnguard. Also there is a man that is in the Dawnguard who you can hire out Armoured trolls from - isn't that awesome? { SPOILER } Serana will still be a follower if your in the Dawnguard ( due to her fleeing Castle Volkihar to get away from her father ). She may decide to cure herself of Vampirism.

Dawnguard. I tried Volkihar but it just a little too bloody for me. I'm a neat/clean freak...

I tried to do the vampire quest line, but i am unable to wear my thieves guild hood as a vampire, so i am not doing that quest line until this is fixed, i wanted to cover my eyes with that hood so RP wise no one would know i was a vampire, but no, apparently using armor that comes with the game is asking for too much.

Volkihar, though they're not my favorite vampire clan.

Dawnguard.

Have you seen Castle Volkihar?

The interior decor is just distasteful, what with all of the blood and thrall cattle laying about.

You give me a choice between "vampire" and "anything else" and I'll go with "vampire" every time.

Dawnguard

It's because she's got more depth to her than any other follower. Or, at least, that's the reason I like Serana.

Oh and another reason why I pick Dawnguard is cause of that one Arkay dude..

"I once killed 30 vampires with my bare hands, you know! Ask Arkay, he'll tell you!"

Most vampire players would prefer to be the sneak type of character so having a whole host of followers would more than likely just get in the way, it's bad enough when Serana keeps animating non-stealthy dead-uns.

I think the dark brotherhood hoods work and dont look that bad on.

People like her because she is the only NPC in the game that actually has a character.

Yeah, she's an interesting person, and has plenty of depth...until you finish the questline anyway. Then she leaves you wanting for good ole' Lydia.
I haven't decided yet though, I've only played through the Volkihar so far.

I am now Lord of the castle... I am now the most powerful vampire in Skyrim! When Cyrodiil is introduced in a dlc, I will bend the will of the vampire clan there and if they disobey, they will all be destroyed!

Why so serious? BTW you're forgetting Cicero.

Cicero is a useless assasin and a loonatic, yes he's interesting but he's a jester.

If Beth. had put the same level of effort into at least 1 character out of each of the faction's as they did on Serana then the love/hate of these characters would be the same.

1. Assasins aren't useless. I use the generic dark brotherhood female as a companion fitted with fully enchanted gear and Mehrunes' Razor and she kicks serious butt.
2. Cicero is a little creepy and funny at the same time, but he continues to be interesting after the dark brotherhood quests are over. Making him a more interesting character than Serana in my opinion.

I think we should get back to commenting on what this thread is really about.

It's been pointed out on other threads that you get a lot of really good stuff like crossbows etc, so I guess that if your into power characters then the Dawnguard would be the way to go.

On the other hand if it's more the role-play side your after then it's your own personel choice and who you see your character as.

Serana's more animated than Cicero... I'm hoping they update the game to make the rest of the followers 'do their own thing'

The roleplaying me says Volkihar, whereas the living hobby shop me says Dawnguard. I can't play through one without being disappointed with the fact that I can't play through the other on the same character.
