Whitney Houston has passed...

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 3:25 pm

I'd like to remember her as the amazing singer she was from the late 80's and early 90's. Its sad the press had to plaster her private life all over the tv and news stands.....such a great loss.

Well that's surprising. Sad to see a life end this way cause of past choices. If that's why it did.

As a consolation, I never heard anything of her drug abuse, that was a surprise to me..I just knew about Bobby Brown. I always remebered her as the great singer she was.

Read my second post. She was 48, and didn't appear to be suffering from overweight-related health problems. Like I said, I'm not saying that she overdosed, but past can result in bad future health problems...and that's not even mentioning the possibility of health issues from current drug use (not OD related).

Just because you're not overweight doesn't mean you're in good shape or healthy. I'm 5'4", 110 pounds, and in terrible shape...I can barely walk up a few flights of stairs without getting winded (although I've recently bought a treadmill to hopefully work on this :ermm:). It very well could be related to her past drug abuse, but it could very well be something unrelated. Sad news indeed...

That's quite a shock. Never really listened to her music, but I knew who she was. And right before the Grammy's, too.
I'm sure iTunes is already adding a dollar to the price of all her songs now, damn commercialism. Hope they don't start plastering all her life problems on tv, now - that's the kind of stuff that adds insult to injury, man.

It is sad to see such a talented performer throw everything down the drain, and leave this earth prematurely. I will forever remember her performance of the Star Spangled Banner before Superbowl XXV in 1991. At the height of the first gulf war, this was the most moving performance of the national anthem I've ever heard. That is the way I will forever remember for. Here is a link for those that have not seen it.

Yeah, you know what... I have this funny thing about speaking ill of the dead. It doesn't hurt them, but it sure makes the person not look that great. So I used my moderator powers for good and took out the rather harsh post. Wishing other people to commit suicide or die somehow because you just don't like them is just... not a good way to go.

I don't expect people to rend their clothes, throw ashes in their hair and wail like funereal banshees over the death of Whitney Houston or any famous person. But is it too much to ask for a little human decency? Or barring that, then simply keeping your thoughts to yourself. Not every thing you think needs to said on the internet.

Either drug use, or complications from past drug use.

It's sad, sure, but that's what happens when you do drugs .

Was playing SWTOR and saw the people chatting about this with some suggesting suicide that she slit her wrists. Anyways you look at it this definitely svcks and she'll be missed.

Its amazing when people talk about how a person has passed in harsh ways rather than talk about the person as a person.

A shame. Never listened to her music much, but I really liked her in The Bodyguard. The woman had a great voice.

first off, no one knows how she died, the police have released no information. based on that, we can assume that it was not a death by natural causes or drug abuse, the coroner hadn't picked her body up last we heard, and that never happens unless you are dealing with a murder scene. there's a good chance she was actually murdered. people don't let dead bodies just lay around in hotel rooms for a day if it's a self-inflicted death or natural causes..that only happens if there is a investigation based on a murder..

Such a shame. I was round my Mum's earlier and talking about it - we used to watch The Bodyguard all the time when I was younger. We were talking about what a beautiful and talented woman she was, and that's how I'll remember her. Plus, Queen of the Night is badass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFcnGLFGbL8&ob=av2n

It's unfortunate that someone with such great talent has passed.

But I heard her cause of death could've been from drowning in a bathtub. In which I think it was drug related. Never know though.

Oh, she was an amazing singer back in the day. It's all quite dated now, but I reckon if you YouTube'd her Bodyguard soundtrack you'd have to agree that she was a brilliant singer, even if the songs aren't to your taste. You must have heard of I Will Always Love You though? Even if you haven't seen the film? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JWTaaS7LdU&ob=av2n
Nothing wrong with discovering someone in the wake of their death I say. :)

no i mean the people who are in life, lets use michael jackson for an example
before he died "oh he's a peodophile, hes disgusting"
after "OH MY GOD MICHAEL WAS AN AMAZING SINGER"
it irritates me i love michael jackson, man in the mirror is a song i listen to ever since it came out, i was going to go to his comeback concert but i decided against it because i didnt want to drive that far, but all of a sudden in the wake of the mans death he is a god when in the begining you persucuted him

Hmm. I see what you mean, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who believe he was guilty of certain crimes and yet was still a great singer. I agree, but most of the people I know saw both sides of the coin together - Amy Winehouse the artist and Amy Winehouse the heroin addict could be another example maybe. But did you really not know who Whitney Houston was before she died? To me that's nearly on par with not knowing who Michael Jackson was. :P
