Whitney Houston has passed...

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:42 pm

Hmm. I see what you mean, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who believe he was guilty of certain crimes and yet was still a great singer. I agree, but most of the people I know saw both sides of the coin together - Amy Winehouse the artist and Amy Winehouse the heroin addict could be another example maybe. But did you really not know who Whitney Houston was before she died? To me that's nearly on par with not knowing who Michael Jackson was.
i didnt know who she was, that song i will always love you was one my sister loved, i just didnt know who sang it lol

I reckon you should check out the film The Bodyguard (where that song is from). It's a bit of a cheesy classic and considering your thread on your sister you might like to watch something that chances are she loved too. :) Not quite the place that you shared but it's still something.

"I Will Always Love You" was written and performed by Dolly Parton way before Whitney got hold of it and turned it inside out...Dolly's version is great as well. It's simply a great song.

"turned it inside out"...? is that a joke dude? whitney does an AMAZING job on that song, and parton even admits that..anyone who disagrees with that statement is simply wrong, no questions asked..

..yeah, there are opinions, and then there are just facts, trying to say whitney houstans version of i will always love you is bad is like trying to say billie jean isn't an amazing song. it's just a wrong fact.

I don't think he's saying Whitney Houston's version was bad, just different... Which it really is.

Whitney Houston was an amazing artist. She'll be missed. :(

I just listened to her Superbowl performance of the National Anthem and it was the best I've ever heard.

I think http://pbskids.org/arthur/games/factsopinions/factsopinions.html might help you.

Personally, I never really enjoyed anything I can remember by her. As much as I'd love to be sympathetic, the evidence leaning towards a drug-fueled death can't be ignored. Then again, I can't say I'd really feel bad if any famous person I knew passed away, whether natural causes or otherwise. I don't know them personally, so any feelings I'd have wouldn't really be warranted.

Actually, I hated it (though that's possibly due to the insane amount of airplay it got when it was in the charts.) I respect Whitney as a singer and Dolly as a songwriter, but I'd be quite happy if I never heard that song again.

This song is one of the few that actually has some power to move me, though I wasn't a fan of hers I did like that "I wanna dance with somebody" as well.

Whitney who?
It's so weird to read posts like that, she is really famous here. My philosophy teacher in highschool used to say she was the most beautiful woman, his favorite movie was Bodyguard

It's sad to learn she's no longer with us. She had a rough life, and I wasn't the biggest fan of her songs, but there's no denying that she had an incredible voice. She had a gift.
