It could be. It might also be just what it appears, military comradeship, friendship and loyalty.

Or it might also be because in Balgruffs room if you look really closely on his Pillow(the one on the left) you can see the picture of a Hamster in a tophat with a monocle and Diamond cane riding a Giant Armadillo in a Aviator Glasses and a Cowboy hat. Irlileth really knows the way to a mans heart :wub:

So you're saying that the defunct Morag-Tong, the government-sanctioned group of assassins from Morrowind, which is in a great deal of turmoil btw, you're saying that these people have put an assassin in the ranks of a not-very-powerful Jarl of Skyrim for YEARS on the off-chance that they might need him dead?

You're saying this AFTER an actual former-Morag-Tong assassin confirmed that the group is pretty much gone IN-GAME?

Yes, the dead group of assassins from a strife-ridden country have put a long-term assassin in the court of a powerless member of Skyrim society. That's what happened.

The Morag Tong are reportedly gone, and I'm willing to believe that.

As juicy as it would be for Irileth to be some hardcoe assassin that has spent years buttering up Balgruuf only to take him out at the right time... I don't see it.

She's a hot piece of Dunmer babe with fierce loyalty and paranoia.
I don't think she's actually likely to be all that interesting. Married to her work and all that.

Mephala is the demon of murder, six, and secrets. All of these possess subtle aspects and violent ones (assassination/ genocide, courtship/orgy, tact/ poetic truths); Mephala was meant to embody those dichotomies, and this made it (Mephala is hermaphroditic) a difficult deity to understand. It is no surprise that Vivec exploits the more popular characteristics of his progenitor: combat and art.

Lilith is the closest person to King Balgruuf. She's been with him for years, since the two met in war. She's obviously stayed for the loving, but Lilith's also deft with steel swords. Now, if someone needed a mole and last resort knife, in the court of Skyrim's pivotal kingdom, who better than the king's lover and tactician - who better than a Morag Tong assassin?

Something to think about.

Her name is Irileth and she is Balgruuf's housecarl. I assume she told you she wanted to gut you at the slightest hint of you being a threat to Balgruuf? If they became friends on the battlefield wouldn't it make sense for Irileth to be an absolute bad-ass with swords and magic? The Morag Tong would perform legal executions with some gray executions in the mix but still legal. Now what makes you think Irileth is Morag Tong?

I highly doubt that Irileth is a shady assassin - she'd have killed Balgruuf by now if she was.

Besides, as someone mentioned, the Morag Tong is gone.

Once you've completed one of the Thieves Guild's 'special jobs', a Dunmer fence will be added to the Ragged Flagon. She's the one who informs us that the Morag Tong is no more.
