Who saied that Rage has a good graphics? Must read, must see

No, it doesn't. Borderlands is made using toon shaders. It's a completely different story from Rage. If you consider Rage being a Borderland like game (graphically wise), please quit this discussion. You haven't technical knowledge to distinguish a shadow from a texture.

I laugh...

This is why i hate the "New Generation Gaming Community". They have no idea what they are talking about and they express their opinion as if its the one and only idea that everyone should be thinking of.

Todays gamers truly have no respect for games these days and they are the reason some games are utter sh*t. i.e the Call of Duty Franchise is in the toilet after CoD4, same with Halo on console. Its a fan boy thing, thinking those are the games and that is it. nothing else exists in there minds.

Graphic wise, sure i can be a graphics junky at times. but really? saying RAGE is crappy looking? ok i can take that as a matter of opinion. i respect your opinion on that. But when you try to bash a game for its graphics and it not being like other games with dynamic skies and what ever... then you might have a problem. the game is already 22.3Gb on PC at the same time the game its self is virtually huge in its environments for being somewhat bi-linear (linear with the ability to back track to old areas.) I do notice some of the textures being annoyingly blurry especially on generic static items like books on a shelf or some cabinets against a wall. no big deal really. Sometimes with the right lighting the guns look a bit cell-shaded.

Personally, even though id Software admits that PC wasnt going to be the big hit, i think they did a masterful job in keep their names in the light and maintaining the Title of Fathers of the FPS Genre.

He has a point. Don't laugh. He has posted shots. And those shots tells a lot about the overall quality of the textures. You laugh at "new generation gaming community" while those who complain about the game are those old guys who played id Games in the real PC era and they were expecting a real PC game, while they produced the classic multi-platform console / pc game where the PC version is just a port of the console game. The era when real men plays on PC and serious game studios produced games on PC only. So don't laugh, just look at how ridicolous you are. Sh*t games don't happen because those people complain about bad textures in a 21GB game. Sh*it games happens because there are gamers like you who buy anything and are always happy. Sh*t games happen because there are gamers who play on PC with badly ported console games and they're happy. They never complain because everything is more complex that their thinking. I'm not saying Rage is a particularly bad game. But don't tell me it's excellent, graphically wise, because it's not. Crysis 1 today (a 2007 game, made for real PCs) looks tremendously better than Rage in the end of 2011. This is a fact, not an opinion. So, don't just respect opinions. Take facts, sometimes.

I laughed aswell.

You know, consoles are responsible for the development of CoD games. Now ID's right up there with Activision.

And sure, the true FPS genre might be dead, but that doesn't mean we have to bury PC gaming altogether.

Exactly. He's practically saying id software has done a good job in developing a console game and porting it to the PC. Damn, we're in 2011, games are using tessellation to improve details at tremendous levels and all we obtain are blurry textures and low-polygon models, with a static sky that looks like... a texture ... Even Doom had a moving sky with some effects...
I really don't understand people, sometimes. Look at image #8: looks like a texture directly taken from a cell phone game... We don't even deserve a bump map.

Very good? Post screenshots and I'll demonstrate you that your concept of "very good" is really bad.

I′m pretty sure you will, no matter what

It's not my fault if you fhave very low expectations. It's not bad having low expectations. But don't try to confuse your low expectations with a good quality of the graphics. Please understand what I want to say. I'm not trying to bash the game, I'm just discussing about the graphics.
For me, the game is not bad. I like it, it's fun and it is what I was expecting from an FPS with RPG elements. The graphic is not completely horrible, to say the truth. But it has some elements definitely not conformant for a game released in 2011.
You can accept some things on an Xbox 360. Not on PC.

I now what you are saying and i mentioned the textures on close objects (like the food cans on shelfs for example or phones on desks) don′t look good for me, too. But otherwise it′s impressive walking through the city or driving through the canyons. Will try to post screens when i′m back home. - Assuming the game still works after stream downloaded the patch ..

OK. This guy just can't make up his mind.

id Software founder and programming legend John Carmack has just given a bold statement that may not pleased consoles gamers. He said, "one of the larger mistakes" he made with RAGE was allowing consoles to have an equal place in development alongside the PC.

In an interview to PC Gamer, John Carmack said, "When we started on the game six years ago, I looked at the consoles and said ‘These are as good as the PCs that we're on here’, and our development strategy was set up such that we basically developed live on all the platforms there. And now when we’re looking at PCs that have ten times the horsepower of the consoles... I’m making a large change in my direction, just saying ‘We should be focusing on building things efficiently on the PC and [then] deploying on to consoles.’ And we didn’t make that as crisp of a distinction as we should have."

Carmack further explain how that will change going forward, "My development system now has twenty-four threads and twenty-four gigs of memory, and we can start putting on half a terabyte of solid state drives, and these are the things that are gonna drive the development process on the PC. So, I’m actually as excited about how we’re developing tht titles in this coming generation as the graphics enhancements and things that I’m gonna make."

And two years from now when new consoles come out it will be the same story all over again. :glare:

This patch made great work on my system.
I installed the patch and deleted the rageconfig.cfg

Intel i7 2600 (4 cores - 8 threads)
2x NVIDIA GTX580 in SLI
8GB RAM
latest 285.38 driver

If I change the driver profile to allow the game to set the vsync and than I set the Smart vsync in game,
tearing disappeared. +1 for the patch

They talks about SLI in the changelog but the latest nvidia driver have the SLI option disabled, if I enable it manually
the framerate drops drammatically. Weird eh?

I noticed that to get a SHARP image I need to use an antialias of 4X or lower. Every antialias greater than 4X creates blurry graphics.
With anitialias to 4X graphics is much better than before, there is some crappy texture but graphics is much better than before using 16X AA.

Something is moving and I'm happy for this new improvements.
I hope to see a driver that will let me enable the SLI and using 16X AA without loosing the sharp images as it happen now.

I'm impatient to enjoy this game, I want to start the game when all problems will be solved and I can't wait for it
