Me. I'm torn between 2;
Whatever I choose, I am pretty much using the same skills: One Handed (Dual Wield), Conjuration, Enchanting, Illusion, with dabbling in Alteration and an armor skill (haven't decided between Light Armor or Heavy Armor)
I'm contemplating either a Wood Elf, for their Animal Companion racial ability, and role playing a Wood Elf who is one with the forest, but consumed by evil spirits and dark forces, and has been corrupted by dark magic. Would be a mix between a Necromancer (summoning undead and reanimating zombies) and a Druid (Command Animal spells).
The pro's of this build are the RP, I really enjoy the idea of someone who is one with the woods, but corrupted by dark spirits. It's loosely based on my main Magic: The Gathering deck I built which is a green / black deck that uses black magic to reanimate powerful creatures from the dead (most of my deck's creatures are all forest style creatures). It mixes my 2 favorite magical classes into one (Necromancer, Druid = NecroDruid

). Wood Elves also get the Animal Companion racial ability which highly reflects the character's affinity for the forest.
The con's of this build are that the Wood Elf's skill bonuses don't apply to the build at all as I will not be using Archery, I would -prefer- Heavy Armor over Light Armor (though I may still go Light Armor), and I'm unsure how much Sneak I'll be using (I would like to do it, but even if I do I don't believe it will be a staple of my character). Also, when it comes to Command spells, I highly doubt I'll be avoiding "Command Humanoid" spells, which breaks the animal affinity roleplay if I'm mind controlling bandits as well.
The other choice is a Breton, due to their skill bonuses in magic. The roleplay will be relatively the same as the Wood Elf, although as a Breton instead of a Wood Elf, he obviously won't have the "one of the woods" roleplay. Instead of an affinity with the woods, the roleplay would be that of a mage who eventually masters dominion over all minds, summoning them to do his will, as well as commanding them to his control.
The pro's of this build are the skill bonuses, in particular Conjuration which I want to be my main skill. This bonus includes an extra starting summon spell, which will help me get to summoning right off the bat. RP wise, I don't know if the character is as rich in flash and flair, but the build feels like an epic hero to me (a lot of this comes from the fact that both characters - the Wood Elf, and the Breton, are loosely based off of characters of my own fiction, with my Breton being loosely based off of my fiction's main hero, while my Wood Elf is loosely based off of a secondary side character. The character my Breton is based off of is also the opponent of the character that my Oblivion character was based off of, so there is a bit of a connection there by creating versions of my hero and villain). Also, since my character RP isn't limited to forest and animal affinity, Command Humanoid spells better fit under the roleplay of this character.
The con's of this build are that I'll be utterly giving up the "forest affinity" roleplay of the Wood Elf, the Breton doesn't start with an Animal Companion racial ability (and if Command spells are rare as they have been in past games, such as Morrowind, or even non-existent, then the Wood Elf Animal Companion ability is the only way for me to command a creature), and a Breton Tank Mage doesn't sound quite as unique as a Wood Elf Necro-Druid.
On top of my race, I'm still torn on what armor skill I want to use. I am torn between whether I want to play a Heavy Armor tank mage, or a Light Armor stealth night blade - both playstyles are about as equally appealing to me. I essentially played a Light Armor night blade in Morrowind, with a stealth focused archer / assassin / thief who also specialized in dark Illusion and Conjuration magic, while in Oblivion, I played a combat based, claymore wielding tank who specialized in dark Conjuration and Mysticism summoning and soul harvesting magic, with some Destruction and Alteration in the mix as well for extra damage potential and extra tanking potential.
So basically my choice comes down to:
*Breton Heavy Armor tank mage who focuses on my summoning capabilities by taking advantage of the Conjuration bonuses and extra starting Conjuration spell and doesn't limit his mind control capabilities to just animals, while giving up the forest affinity roleplay and Animal Companion ability
OR
*Wood Elf Light Armor night blade who focuses on my animal affinity by taking advantage of the Animal Companion racial ability, and limiting my mind control abilities to just animals, while sacrificing Command Humanoid versatility and the early head start on summoning creatures.
