Who would buy another Bethesga Game?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:47 am

I don't have any bugs ... once every 2-3 hours the game crashes, but that's it.

Well this may seem acceptable, although a finished product would not crash at all. Considering all the issues other uses are experiencing which is making the game unplayable i.e. bsod, my personal opinion is the game is still in beta and they need to employ more time in testing

I have only encountered minor issues on my PC and CTDs are very rare for me.
I feel sorry for those who are having major issues with the game, different configurations will throw up different problems.

This is the first game I have bought in a long time at release, I usually wait a few months for patches etc. because lets face it the vast majority of new releases nowdays contain many bugs and some games are even unlayable at first. I'm glad I didn't have those problems with this game though, I guess it just likes my system.

I honestly am incredibly impressed that they can get a game out with more than 500 hours, that doesn't just implode in on itself constantly for EVERYONE.

Bethesda Game Studios is my favorite game company on Earth. I want to work for them after college.

I will be buying every single game they ever make, without question, unless they SERIOUSLY make some errors. Like, if they turned TES into a crappy MMORPG, or made it a linear, level based game. But I don't think they will every anything that pisses me off.

Yes the game has bugs, yes they are aware, yes they are trying to fix it. Like I said, bugs in a 500 hour game are to be expected.

I'll buy whatever TES/Fallout titles they put out.

I know they are going to have issues. Luckily I seem to avoid the worst usually. Or find community fixes/workarounds in short order for the ones that do arise. For some, I plain and simply live with that which does not get attention by anyone. Thankfully that is rare.

When you boil it down, every TES/Fallout title (Morrowind+ Fallout 3+) I have played, was well worth the measly $50-60 I paid for it, and the time it took to find a fix/workaround.

Big part of my love of Bethesda games, is the bad ass community behind it! My hats off to all those who put in the time and effort to help everyone have a better experience. From bug fixes to visuals to new quests and items.

P.S.

Oh yeah. I'm still running the original day one patched exe, patched with LAA. So at this point I'm solid stability wise and have had no real script issues to speak of.

Not likely. After them giving us a half-a**ed port of the game that was so broken with a horrendous UI that doesn't work for PC at all, only able to change half the keybinds with other hidden ones that we can't see and then a UI that doesn't even reflect these changes, crashes, lack of 64-bit support (LAA) for systems with 4+ GB ram and now a patch that broke the game more instead of fixing it is just ridiculous (on top of the many other bugs listed through-out these forums).

I love the story and the work they put into the story/lore but it's pointless when I can't be immersed into their wonderful worlds when the game is plagued with problems.

Unless they hurry up and fix this game, and that their next game(s) aren't just a lazy port over from consoles I won't be buying anymore of their games. Also, I will NOT buy a console version just because they put more time into those versions. I am a PC gamer and will stay a PC gamer!

I've had exactly 3 crashes in about 140 hours of play and not a single broken quest. I did have to use a player made fix for the XP freezing issue, but that was the only significant problem I've experienced. Granted, I've had some weirdness like seeing shields and weapons floating off into the sky, but nothing game breaking.

Oh, I didn't read 'PC Players' before I voted. But nevertheless, I voted yes, I've had no problems with my game. A few bugs but nothing game breaking for me. Luckily I was at work during the day so I avoided the patch :spotted owl:

Oh no! I paid 60 bucks for (at least, if I rushed a little) 200 hours of content! What a bad game! Bethesda should be ashamed!

Additional Info: I paid 0,3 cents for every "content-hour" in the game.

I'd get it on the PC.

So that, in the end, I can use a community patch.

Of course I'll buy another Bethesda game. This is certainly not their finest moment, but I absolutely love their games.

I will purchase any elderscrolls game released simply because $60 for days spent on the game vs $60 for 5 hours like just about anything else. Though I would really like to see some return of freedom in terms of Morrowind's enchanting, our spellmaking, and old spell effects. Also, could I get the directions and find my own way to my quest objectives? The markers can stay for those who enjoy it but let me hide them and navigate. There is more I could add to this but I'll stop here. These things are the key to changing it from an ok time sink to a really awesome game for me.

I'm not sure who Bethesga are but Im sure they release good games. Eh? Ehh?

Seriously though, in the future yes I will buy Elder Scrolls games and maybe something else if it grabs my interest, although they might not be a day 1 purchase after what I experienced with Oblivion, FO3 and Skyrim

Honestly I'm not sure anymore if I would buy another Bethesda game. I've suffered almost no crashes, had no game issues to speak of, but something just seems to be missing for me from the game world. Maybe it's the (really short, to me) faction quests, but something just seems off. It's the little things that are getting to me - no big issues to speak of yet, though I haven't tried the latest patch.

Had one quest bug, but otherwise the game is bug and crash free. Yes, I'll be buying. Even with the bugs and issues that I know other people are experiencing, its more entertainment for 60$ than you're likely to find anywhere else.

Not only would I buy another Bethesda game, but I don't mind playing the role of beta tester. That is how much I love Bethesda.

You are the problem. I blame people like you for the problems we are having with Skyrim and every other game release these days. Because of people that think like you and have the general mentality that game makers can do no wrong we end up with games only 90% done released far to early. What should have happened was the game should have been delayed due to bugs and problems discovered in testing "did they even do any testing?". Release the game a month or two later properly polished and working. But no people like you are actually PROUD to buy an unfinished game.... thus sending Bethesda in this case the message that it is ok for them to continue releasing unfinished games.

Best tip for anyone annoyed by any of these issues. When the next Bethesda game comes out do the unimaginable and WAIT for 3 months before buying it. By then they will have finished the game more than likely AND you will likely get it cheaper than all the mooks who paid to beta test it. Take the money you saved and buy the first round of DLC which givens Bethesda's track record is normally 2 - 3 months after release.

In summary
- wait a little extra time before buying their game
- laugh at all the stupid mooks who bought it at launch and paid full price"beta testers"
- buy the game after a few months once it has had its first discount "normally 2 or 3 months"
- now that you got the game for less than everyone else and its nice and patched up feel free to treat yourself to the first DLC pack. At that point you will have only spent as much as everyone else did on just the game on launch day.

Show where you stand with how you spend your money, because you are just kidding yourself if you think they care about anything else than the bottom line.

The fun I've had playing Skyrim so far has *massively* outweighed the few crashes I've had, the few minor bugs I've encountered, and the annoying UI. I haven't had any game-breaking problems yet; either I've been lucky or a lot of users are exaggerating.
