Why are so many enemies allies?

Who said the Argonians have much choice? Maybe the Hist recognize the threat of Molag Bal and their own inability to do anything to stop them. However they know of some rather powerful gods of their hated neighbors next door who have stopped Daedra Lords many times. The Hist could easily force the Argonians into allying with the Dunmer. The Dunmer could even force the Argonians into Slave armies. My question is why the hell would the Dunmer ally with the Argonians? What do the Argos have to offer the Dunmer that they would want or cannot take for themselves at this point? The 2nd Era Dunmer were very strong at this time and also had 3 fully functioning, and at the height of their power, heretic godkings. It will be interesting to explore this, hopefully.

We have to see Morrowind in terms of its political factions here and I think motivations can be gleamed from their personalities.

-Dres and Hlaalu would welcome easy access to cheap wealth that Argonia can provide in terms of resources and slave labour.
-Indoril and the Temple would follow the Triune.
-Redoran would be insular. It would ignore the situation as best it could and go on with business as usual.
-Telvanni would be fragmented. No matter what official stance Telvannis takes, individual mage-lords follow their own agenda.

It all boils down to the Triune.
If they give their blessing to this alliance, and I believe that Vivec and Almalexia would be open to it, then it would go ahead.
Vivec is a diplomat and an empath. He would not refuse his brothers, who are him, in their time of need even though the evils that the alliance begets would pain him.
Almalexia would be a mother unto her people and guide them towards a diplomatic solution. She is an accomplished stateswoman and would look towards the bigger picture.

Just pretend that the Dunmer have Hist spores in their brains.

Let's just pretend TESO will be awesome and it's lore consistent, logical and interesting...

...or ignore World of Tamrielcraft, which is probably a better decision.

Okay, so we have the three factions.....but inside those faction the races dont make any sense, other then they are next to each other.

1. Ebonheart Pact
Seriously? WAT? The nords, dunmer and argonains are prehaps the biggest enemies throughout Tamriel. ALl of them constantly bretraying and invading each other. This alliance makes no sense. The nords think the Dunmer are filth, the Dunmer ensalve the Argonians, which means the argonians hate them. ANd the Dunmer both look down on the argonians are animals and the Nords as uncivilised brutes. WTF?

2. The Aldmeri Dominion
This one at least makes sense, the other two Elvish races and the khajitts team up together.....though there are plenty of history between the Bosmer and the khajitt, its not crazy to think they could team up.

3. The Daggerfall Covenant
Again, a part of the world that doesn't make much sense. I'm not sure of the state of the place in this period, but if its anything like the more modern times, then all three of these races are trying to take out the other. Again I suppose they could team up to take on a bigger threat, but if a Redguard took the throne, you could be the bretons would trun against them to take it for themselves.

The only reason they are teamed up like this is so that each faction is geographically together for gameplay reasons....if this is the approahc to lore they are taking 'use the real lore when it suit the gameplay' I cant help but fear at the state of lore in the rest of the game.

History is FULL of examples of enemies working together to fight a common enemy. Its not only plausible, its logical and more interesting than enemies always hating each other for time never ending. Not only this, but in Skyrim the Nords helped the Dunmer refugees. Did they stop hating them? No, but if an act of compassion can elicit cooperation, what do you think a universal threat would do?

Quite unimaginative. An eagle, lion and dragon? God...

But what we're supposed to do is bow before the unfallible glory of our Zenimax overlords, and then make up little tales in our own heads why the lore of this game makes sense. It's obviously not the job of the writers to maintain continuity, that's the job of the community.

Good grief! Tamriel wouldn't be a very interesting world if continuity meant lack of change. Ignorance/lack of respect for TES lore seems to me the least likely (as well as least interesting) explanation for discrepancies between the early second and late third eras, and it's fun to speculate what may have fueled the changes. Human history provides plenty of examples of nations that were enemies at one time and allies at another.
