Why did you buy Skyrim for a console?

The number of people who voted PC is larger than the number of people who voted "See 5." Your poll is compromised.

Got it for PC originally, but my computer SHOULD be able to run it on medium settings (that's what it says when it auto-configs) but since it only used 2 processors (I have 6), it was unplayable for me. Instead of waiting for mods to fix it or something, I just said screw it and got it on PS3, loving it ever since.

I know theres a mod for using more processors now, I've been meaning to try it out. I had oblivion on PS3 only. I've been thinking about getting MW and Oblivion on PC but I just don't have the time to enjoy those games again lol.

I could run Oblivion and Fallout New Vegas on my computer, but when I checked my graphics card when I was looking at Skyrim it seemed like it wasn't quite good enough. I didn't want to get Skyrim for PC and not be able to play it, so I got it for 360. I have no regrets. I have encountered virtually no bugs and I think the controls with an xbox controller are quite seamless (and I probably would use one anyway if I were playing on PC).

Will I miss mods? Yeah. Maybe someday I'll get a new computer that can play it.

This poll seems dismissive of console gamers. I don't think the poll questions accurately refelct the entire community. Why bother with a poll at all and just speak your mind.

I'm surprised this didn't get locked, TBH.

It kind of sounds like "Why'd you get it on your crappy, inferior consoles?"

I just re-read the poll and it says nothing of the sort, it simply asks why people bought the console version (which is ultimately inferior to the PC version in any objective comparison). Consoles ARE inferior to PCs, that much is indisputable in terms of processing power and what they can actually do, but that has nothing to do with this thread.

There is an option for 'I'm not a PC gamer', which represents the many who simply prefer consoles. I don't see what the problem is.

I prefer 360 and I don't want to deal with Draconian Forced Steamworks.

Yesterday I stopped by my little brothers house and he wanted show me his Skyrim character. So he turns it on, hits continue and then we sit for 20-30 seconds while it loads. He walks around his house and shows me all the stuff in his chests and then he exits his house to enter Riften. Another 20-30 seconds of loading. Then he runs to the theives guild and we get another 20-30 second long load screen. Fast travel to whiterun. 20-30 second long load screen. Screw that. lol

Even if you never ever touch mods you should play on PC just to save yourself a lot of time. My PC load screens are 4-10 seconds. It adds up pretty quickly when you consider how often things need loaded. Skyrim is a long enough game without wasting hours loading it.

Some of us arn't so rich.

This.
An Xbox is better value for money. To buy a decent PC you want to keep for about 3 years you're looking at about a grand at least.
An Xbox-£200 wider variety of games, better multiplayer can play with friends over a wide variety of games. FIFA (or other sports games) FPS games and the odd RPG play out for me much better on a console rather than shelling out tons of cash on a system that is probably superior if you know what you're getting but has more limited scope for gaming.
It's a no brainer for me but I dislike the PC elitism on this forum.

False. A £600 PC would keep you for 3 years, probably still maxing games if you pick the right card.
An Xbox-£200 wider variety of games,

False. PC has the widest variety by far.

False, console multiplayer is generally on a smaller scale with less choice and on P2P servers; any multiplayer series which wants to do well on PC allows at least rental of dedicated servers.

I have always been interested why Skyrim suddenly got so popular on the console platform. Being that Morrowind was a game introduced to me under the guise, see what you can mod for it! by a friend, I have always vehemently made sure I was buying TES games for a PC. Even now owning a PS3 (I have only played FF13 or 14... cant remember, dont care...) on it, I was never really a console fan. So Whyd you buy Skyrim for a console?

I've been playing "Elder Scrolls" games on console since "Morrowind: Game Of The Year Edition".

Consoles offer a better over-all experience than most PC's.

Even gaming super computers are subject to conflicts in hardware, software and an individuals poor system management.

I've only played "Morrowind: GOTY Edition" on the original XBox" and "Oblivion" and "Skyrim" on the XBox 360 and had a fantastic experience on console every time.

And if you know how well the game runs on one XBox you know how well it runs on every XBox, whereas for the PC the experience varies dramatically on an individual basis.

I know that the PC is technically capable of running it better than the XBox.

I've just never seen it yet.

MODs are a great way to add life to a game when you've completed it.

I've played some brilliant "Freelancer" MODs and probably spent more time in MODed "Freelancer" than the original game.

However the original Elder Scrolls games are so strong on their own, even after 1000+ hours in "Oblivion" I have no desire or need to MOD.

And if I ever do reach that point... I have a PC. So I still can.

That's why I bought mine for the console.

It provides the best experience.

So did you type that out with your game box? You say the 360 is a better value for the money yet it can't do half the things a $200 netbook will do. How is that a value? My pc is a pc first and a game player second. See if you build a good gaming PC you get a great PC out of the deal also. If you buy a game box you get games and still need a pc, Wow thats an incredible value. lol

Bought it for PC and playing with high settings. Steam almost got me off Skyrim, but I kept with it, as I was never a console player either. I ended up by reading this thread as I spent yesterday lazily playing on my couch with the PC version.

I am not too sure of the graffs difference between my PC and consoles, but I willingly pay more to get better load times and quality, if that's the case. So I guess I'll keep up with PC.

I totally understand the console gamers' view points though, so don't start picking on me. Peace! :P

The fact that some people on consoles have issues that others don't means this is also completely untrue. There are less conflicts and compatibility issues on consoles, but they are still present.

Reading through this thread I noticed that most console player seem to be both bad at math and uninformed when it comes to the cost of gaming. I'm rather sure that it is an illusion that consoles are less expensive all things considered. That begins with the price of games, console games start out more expensive and not nearly drop as much with time as do PC games. Not to mention that they have to pay for multiplayer! Depending on how many games you buy, the difference in one or two years is probably high enough to upgrade your graphics card basically for free compared to a console player. And that is pretty much the only part of a PC that a gamer needs to upgrade from time to time. A good CPU + overclocking will do almost as long as a console generation. And it isn't like those console player do not need a PC anyway. Internet is a must have these days and so is a PC.

Because my PC monitor is too small, the desk and chair setup is uncomfortable for long term gaming.

I'm unwilling to shell out the bucks for a bigger monitor when I have a giant hdtv sitting 10 feet away.

"Connect ur pc to ur tv dunbass".

No Billy, because then I am hogging two entertainment terminals in my house and I actually have a partner y'know.

When you live with another person (especially if that person plays games too) you can't go swallowing up every leisure machine in the house.
I'm on console she's on pc, she's on console I'm... you get the idea.

So I don't want to be a selfish meanie because well/// y'know :hubbahubba:

So to answer your question... the reason I bought Skyrim for console is six.

There are plenty of valid answers to the question of 'why did you buy it on console?', but this.. this is the best one yet.

Of course they're present but they seem to be fixed a lot faster.

As much as I'd love to pay back the people who tried to belittle me back in the days of "Morrowind" for daring to enjoy myself on console I honestly hope people get a great experience whatever platform they're on and I know that people on the PC and PS 3 enjoy the game just as much as me.

All I know is that the XBox and 360 have been playing my game so well that when I come to the Forums, it's usually to chat about games rather than put someone else down for playing on a different platform and that says a lot really.

this game is a game most enjoyable from the sofa of course on a big screen. i woudn never again by it to pC (if i had one) use Mac nowadays.

Although for PS3 my game freezes quiet often. when looking at map or inventory & so on.
any fix on that you heard of?

You can connect your pc to a big screen and use a sofa too you know.

Even better? Laying http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/jasonsteele/Comp%20related/IMG_0560.jpg rather than on a sofa! (I'm sitting on my headboard for this picture, and that is PC Skyrim on my 40" LCD. With a 360 controller. I have a "game" chair to my right I can use to.)
