No one's forcing you to watch it. There are plenty of people like that on TV and the radio, but we have a little thing called free speech so you can't just fire them all.

You can't fire a show host for what should amount to libel/defamation?

Free speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want and be damned the consequences.

she hasn't been fired for the same reason the oxygen channel and the WE channel primarily consist of made for tv movies about how every one outside of the house is a home wreaker and out to steal your husband. unemployed house wives eat that [censored] up.

Depends on what's being said and what the intent is. I don't know this woman, so I don't know if she's just an idiot or making serious accusations.

That's not how freedom of speech works. If you have a show on a tv network, and you say something the network doesn't like, they are fully within their legal right to fire you. Your employment is not a dais from which to spew whatever you want.

freedom of speech can't keep them from firing people, it's their broadcasting network not hers, so she has limited rights to what she can say on it until she buys her own broadcasting station

She's far from my favorite person, but at a guess? That she's still on the network likely means that she's drawing in decent ratings for her show.

Besides - I find her an obvious exaggeration. I would have a hard time believing that neither her or the network she's on (Fox News, right?) were not fully aware of how she comes across and the sorts of reactions she's likely to get from her show. She's set up to be a polarizing figure. She hasn't been fired because she's doing exactly what she was hired to do.

I remember her from the days of Court TV (I used to be a bit of a junkie for that channel,) and while she was very opinionated even then - her on-air persona now is more of a caricature of her than anything.

Let's see.. Rush, O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Olbermann, Coulter, Jones, Grace, the people who say the most ridiculous [censored] get the most attention in the states.

I mainly remember her from the Duke Lacrosse scandal, Jon Stewart parodied her pretty well in how she had no respect whatsoever for the court system (personally thought she was above it and acted as if she should be judge, jury, and executioner, in which case, there'd be innocent people in jail), put her foot in her mouth a number of times, and perpetuated a rather large problem with media bias and how it affects people's outlook on a case, a shining example as to why public opinion doesn't decide court cases.. people are too influenced by the media.

When I was in the states, too much nonsense like that on TV is why I got rid of cable/satellite.

If you're a public figure, pretty much anything goes. It's why people can attack presidents, congressmen, business tycoons, murder-accused, etc.

Well, there are a lot of talking heads on certain news channels I can't stand. Abrasive, muck-raking, inference rather than facts, etc., that I would love to see off the air. But I am equally sure that some of the more liberal-viewed talking heads I mind less than the bombastic ones are equally loathed by people whose views on many issues diverge wildly from mine. They would love to see them fired as well. At the end of the day, I control what I watch and read, and more importantly, how I interpret these things. I am perfectly capable of seeing through artiface, of gathering facts from more than one screeching scare-tactic "news" source and coming to my own conclusions. I don't need other websites watch-dogging for me.

I don't have certain channels on, I never bother with programs or blogs or websites that I think are flat out ignorant, unless I want a laugh, or I want to depress myself by reading something that I know many less open-minded people will read and take as truth/gospel. :(

But you can't have it both ways - I can't force media outlets to always have people that skew more toward my point of view and ONLY that. Freedom of the press means other people get to air their views too, even if I wish they'd shut up forever.

As for Nancy Grace and her ilk on any side of the political spectrum - there is a reason they are called media personalities and NOT journalists. They are shallow ill-informed salaried mouthpieces. A good journalist, willing to dig into a story and report on what s/he learns is worth their weight in gold. Nancy Grace's screeching showboating is not worth the weight of a feather.

I don't even know who Nancy Grace is. Oh, right. I don't care who she is.

I started to read the article then all these pop up windows started opening. So I closed the window and said to myself, 'Who [censored] cares.'

(Fox News, right?)
She's from HLN, a horrible CNN spinoff that fills itself with sensationalist and vapid reporting. Nancy Grace is the worst of the scum that works for HLN.

She's pretty much a complete idiot, no point in watching her except for her tirades. Bout the only news person I'll watch for a few minutes is Erin Burnett, just something about her that's captivating.

To be honest I think she's interesting to watch in the sense Bill O'Reilly is. Ignore the news aspect of it all, watch it like a reality show or a parody, it becomes instantly entertaining.

Does she make your muatra stand at attention?

Imagine you're a suspect in a crime that received national attention in the United States. Let's say you were a tourist, checking out the monuments to the President-Gods of Ald America, and when you were sleeping in your hotel room cops busted in and arrested you. You were a suspect in a nationally reported murder of a blond, blue-eyed, white girl from kansas who was on the same tourist bus as you. You're innocent, obviously, and the evidence amounts to a bus ride and a foreign accent. Nancy Grace would accuse you of committing bloody murder, insinuate you [censored] the victim as well, and insinuate you are a serial murder-rapist.

She does stuff like that? She sounds like a total [censored] then. Is she allowed to express her own opinions like that? I thought she was a news reporter or something.

No, she's a news personality. She's simply there to talk about the news, and for shock value mostly. She's crazy, I think, but really that's probably why people watch her. If you want a legitimate, unbiased, and fair talk show about the current mainstream headline though, you had better stay far away from her show.
