Why do males make female characters on Skyrim?

Seems sorta creepy to me but I was wondering what inspires you to do it.

Some guys connect better with females. As female protaganists are pretty rare.

And...some guys would rather look at a females behind.

The second part of the post would be first for Me, but this sums it up.

I do it because I was told that the boosts against opposite six work better with females as there are more male than female npc's. Not sure though. And they do look nicer. XD

Why do women play male characters?

I switch off between the two. I guess the main reason why I'm playing a black as the night female Redguard is because, in the trailers and all the media, the Dragonborn is portrayed by a white as snow male Nord. I like to play the exact opposite of what the hero is "supposed to be".

and why do women do male characters? :) Hehe. it could be a lot of reasons, and I am sure the absolute most of them is not as creepy as you might think. The dirty thoughts is in your head, not all. :P

Most of my female characters tend to be either mages or assassins. I can't see them using Heavy Armor and swords.

Women like to complain about how they are portrayed in video games and by skyrim mods in particular, but Skyrim is just as bad with the guys. Guys in skyrim all look filthy and spend way too much time in the gym. Even the skinny guys are cut like they use the P90X workout. (google it)

If I could make someone cool looking that doesn't at best look like a cheap Thor knockoff, I might consider making a dude. Until then, females can look halfway decent, so I make them.

I honestly don't know.

But I only play male characters because I'm a male and it feels strange to play as a female. And its always nice to have a little eye candy. :3

Honestly never played as a female before. Don't think I could really ever play as a female because I don't think I would really be able to connect with the character.

Why do people play as anthropomorphic cats? Or bipedal lizards?

It is just something else to do. If I want to be a white male, why play a video game? I am that in real life. It isn't roleplaying if I am the exact same thing in the game. I play a male Khajiit because it is interesting and something else to do. Many guys play girls because it is something else to be. Many girls play guys because it is something else to do.

The answer is pretty simple: Why not? It's an RPG.

There was some woman on here who said she plays Khajiits and if she draws herself, its as an anthromorphic cat-person. I think people like that have a self-image issue.

I take it that you don't find creepy that women make male characters; why then?

And what better way to play out latent homosixual urges then to play as the opposite gender? :D

There are advantages and disadvantages, (real or imagened), to playing each gender. In some games (i.e. fallout), there were things that were easier to do if you a female. People like to roleplay. I've never played a female charactor but I understand why people switch genders in these games. It's really no different then playing a "beast-race" like Khajiit.

The thing is, it's not about self image, at least with me, and it's not really about eye candy, because I usually play first person. It's about writing a good story. If I think a Redguard woman would make an interesting protagonist for this story, so be it. If I think a male Dumner would make an interesting protagonist, so be it.

By the way, Myrhn, your sig is awesome.

Pretty much this.

Female characters are just more interesting to play in my opinion. I have four characters at the moment and they're all female. I think it has do with the fact that it's always more fun to be the underdog.

I guess the OP avoids games like Tomb Raider or Metroid because the protagonist is a female?

this sums it up pretty well. Given a choice I always play a female character. Dragon Age, Mass Effect to name a few. played female characters. I'm a guy and I just appreciate the female form. I enjoy seeing it and its fun to RP a female character.

and I just laughed at Mryhn's sig also. I totally agree. Some of my best RP was with a tough toned dark skin big tusked orc gal. sixy. ;)

There's some imperial or nord guy in skyrim who says something more or less to the same effect.

That's two words... Altmer? I think not.

I don't play females because I'm not female, and female protagonist aren't interesting to me. Simple as that.
