Why we need an expansion that offers a big new area to explo

Almost everyone's favorite thing about Oblivion? The Shivering Isles. An alien, and fantastical realm.

One main reason why so many people love Morrowind? It is an alien, and fantastical world.

A lot of people's favorite place in Skyrim? Blackreach - an alien, and fantastical area.

Wasn't the point of SI being "alien mushroom world", to cater to the people who couldn't leave MW behind, and demanded alien mushrooms? Which (in Skyrim) is fulfilled by Blackreach?

Makes me think the odds of a "weird/alien" expansion is kind of low.

(that said, an expansion with a new landmass - like several of the MW & FO3 dlc - wouldn't be a bad thing. Doesn't have to be weird/alien, though - that was Morrowind's - retreaded in SI & Blackreach - schtick.)

Is that Snoop LION?!
It's a Snoop, yet it is a lion. I think it ties together perfectly the ideal I wish to represent, a fluid environment that crosses a medieval high fantasy environment with the modern-day facets of life such as tedious chores and 9-5 jobs so you can support a wife who is a carbon copy of other women. It is the American dream, in England Albion Tamriel!

See, you get me. Giant mushrooms.

Spoiler
On a serious note, the Daedra are a ripe source for DLC. Namira's realm is completely undocumented, and for all we know it's a beautiful paradise that nobody has ever left, which is why nobody that goes there is heard from again. I actually thought Dawnguard might involve Azura or Meridia when all we had was the title, and when it was revealed it was about vampires I still thought it might have something to do with Meridia. Her realm is probably the best for a DLC of those we haven't seen, the Coloured Rooms, which are inhabited also by Aurorans. And I wouldn't mind seeing more than a glimpse of Peryite's realm, which we saw briefly in Oblivion to look like a locker-room of Mehrunes Dagon's, but which probably combines elements of the other realms, since it's just generally a Daedric slum.

We need something new and unique. A huge new area unlike what we already have. Don't get me wrong, I love Skyrim, but I want that. What say ye?

I totally disagree. The games before Morrowind such as Daggerfall and Redguard didn't have that high fantasy. We have a yet another alien realm like Blackreach in the new Dawnguard dlc.

Its not the alien world as this guy explains very well

worlds can be too alien. What we need is a world we believe in and relate to. Things such as medieval looking buildings, Roman looking legions, Asiatic mer etc are all things also needed. What we need then is to become pulled into the world and for them to then mix it with a blend of higher fantasy and imagination. Too much alien stuff pulls us out of believing it or relating to it. What we need is a mix.

Skyrim is great. Any expansion for it just needs to be expanded upon & pushed into greater depth of lore and imagination. Bloodmoon expansion on Morrowind wasn't all high fantasy. Shivering Isles is nothing on Morrowind. Shivering Isles was believable off the back of Oblivion's reality. What we needs is a greater mix of fantasy crossed with reality in the normal realm. That is the age old rule as seen throughout folklore and mythology. Make it too far from the truth and it become a kids cartoon.

As much as we'd love to get our hands on a DLC like Shivering Isles, I'm not sure if Bethesda will do it. Many developers create small DLC packs which sell for up to $10 and people buy them up. People may not want to buy a DLC if it costs as much as the game itself (I would though). Its very tempting for developers to make DLC packs which bring in lots of money with the least amount of work.

I hope to see true expansion packs for Skyrim. Bethesda's reputation soared to new heights with Oblivion and the Shivering Isles expansion was award winning. I hope Bethesda will make something to get the attention of the gaming industry and raise the bar for what a good DLC pack is suppose to be.

Worst DLC ever was for Sims 3 on Xbox Live. Buy a set of furniture for a sim's bedroom for $10!? Inexcusable. You already had a couple dozen to choose from.

From what I see it doesn't work as it just sends people's loyalty away from the game. Even on future releases.

I'd like to see a trip across the border back into Morrowind. I want to see those little Chinese looking Dunmer gondolier people like we saw in Vivec city & the type of Dunmer buildings we saw in Ald-Ruhn, Maar Gan & Gnisis.
