Why is "Talos" worship illegal now?

I'm thinking that the defeat of the Thalmor may be featured in an expansion, maybe. At least an attempt by the Thalmor to invade Skyrim and then you help the Nords fight them off.

I would think that an all out war against the Thalmor would be a big enough thing to feature in another TES, maybe even the next.

Also, I feel that the current situation should not be compared to the Roman Empire because the Roman Empire did not have something like the Thalmor factoring in.

Yes they did. The Roman Empire hardly had Romans fighting for them or ruling their provinces by the last 100 years of their life. So many factions fought for power over the empire that by the end, non-Romans were emperor.

And the split between East and West saw people trying to purge anything other than Christianity from their lands, and planted the seed for the Crusades and infamous inquisitions.

This is more like one Empire against the other than a power struggle for the throne though.

The situation is getting out of hand, the Medes should not have gone up against the Thalmor until we were strong enough.

The Thalmor would have gone against them anyway, I think.

Eh, until the Empire lost, the Thalmor were provincial separatists / invaders of Valenwood from the Summerset Isles, when your provinces are under attack you can't exactly "Wait until you're strong enough".

The Thalmor invasion was prompted by local Valenwood lords offering territorial concessions of elven lands to Colovian lords in exchange for support in internal feuds. So the Thalmor even had a decent casus belli to attack the Empire.

Right, Cyrodil has been split up, and the new empires are now competing with it. This happened to Eastern and Western Roman empires.

*sigh* In that case we are doomed, Imperial or Stormcloak, the victor will not enjoy their acheivement for very long. Why can''t we just satnd together instead of fighting ourselves?! :banghead:

Because the Empire already doomed itself. It took it's greatest strength, its patron deity, and gave it up.

There's an easy solution if you don't want to feel like the guaranteed loser. Play an Altmer Thalmor agent like me ;)

The Thalmor really are just weakening Skyrim and the Empire before they send their hordes of goblins to take it all over. :P

The Thalmor still have one heck of an obstacle, though. Unless they can repeat the feats that the Empire did in its prime, convincing the Redguards, Orcs, Nords, Khajiit, and Argonians that they should all just give in will be impossible.

If we are given the option of becoming High King of Skyrim, I will take the throne, unite the people and forge allainces with the rest of the lands. Dunmer will fight, Orcs aswell. As an Imperial my people would join our cause. Bretons have much to lose so they would join, Redguards are human so they share the same worries as us if the Thalmor take over.

Though this of course would have to occur in the next TES game probably, I'm looking foward to it I must say.

The Thalmor's goal is not to re-create a multicultural temporal hegemony over Cyrodill...

Exactly. They are almost destined to fail. The Empire survived because it did not genocide everyone. The Thalmor are going to have a hard to convincing people to stay conquered.

The Thalmor don't need to conquer. Their plans don't require a systematic elimination of peoples. Just one day... poof.

Okay, maybe they need to kill all humans first. I'm still not clear on that part.

It's my understanding that they religiously believe that so long as non-elf races exist, the possibility of them ruling on the scale of Cyrodil does, and thus negates their ability to ascend into divinity. Thus they decided on the extermination of all non-elf races.

Or maybe they walked around Cyrodil one day and decided everyone was too ugly (Oblivion rip, lulz).

They are somewhat responsible for the civil war already. They will kill the provinces from within.

Basically. The Thalmor are the real enemy, both to the Stormcloaks/Skyrim and the Empire. Unfortunately, neither faction seems willing to realize that.

This whole post apocalyptic thing seems awesome. While it would be an awesome TES 6 the time between games is usually long( I mean game time not real time) this would make sense for DLC just really huge and awesome DLC which Todd and crew were already saying the were going to do. (Big DLC not war with Thalmor DLC)
