Why is "Talos" worship illegal now?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:26 pm

Yeah, I'll be honest. This is the first game I would get DLC for. Of course that still depends on the DLC, but I hated the concept of it until Skyrim. What? Good games make me want to buy more stuff for it.

As I could careless about the 9 divine or talos my characters have never cared about any of them either, but for Skyrim i say sign be up as a Talos worshiper. I wouldn't be doing my nord character justice if I didn't brutalize some high elves in this installment.

There's an easy solution if you don't want to feel like the guaranteed loser. Play an Altmer Thalmor agent like me ;)
HELLOOO Fellow thalmor brother I think we will enjoy playing games with our inferior neighbours.

I'm beginning to wonder if those Thalmor have any room for Dunmer. It's only kill all humans, right? And you get to ascend as an Aedra, right?

I mean...yeah, I'm all about protecting the innocent. But if I make it so they never existed, then I never did anything wrong.

I don't think they like Dunmer, and I don't think Dunmer like them either.

I don't know, they are somewhat into eugenics, they eliminate even the Altmeri babies seen as unfit. I'm not sure if they would even see a player Altmer as one of them.

Yes but it becomes "being able to live as a Nord" or "having to live as an Imperial subject now sold out to Aldmeri dogs who will genocide my people?"

Well in theory you could choose the middle path, and support the empire while destroying the Thalmor. The Empire wasn't always subservient to the Thalmor, and it doesn't need to always be so.

I thought the Chimer/Dunmer were shunned for having left to go to Morrowind?

The Thalmor don't need to conquer. Their plans don't require a systematic elimination of peoples. Just one day... poof.

Okay, maybe they need to kill all humans first. I'm still not clear on that part.

If their goals are based on the metaphysics of imposing their spiritual beliefs on the cosmos, then they surely need to destroy any one who doesn't share their beliefs. IE, any one who isn't Thalmor.

Humans would be the first target because humans have been the most successful at imposing their beliefs, but I can't imagine it would be very long before they turn on the other non elven, and then the other elven, races.

Yes, this is why they're destined to fail. In the alternate-universe chance that the Thalmor destroy all humans and subjugate Tamriel, the longer time goes on, the more they'll wonder why they haven't ascended yet. Eventually they'll turn on the "lesser" elves for this reason. And when still ascension hasn't happened, they'll eventually turn on each other. Their principle is seen a lot in history, and it's always a prophecy. A self-fulfilling prophecy.

Really interesting stuff. Props to Bethesda.

Always thought the Dunmer were the only cool elven race - now I know it. Time to play a Dark Elf assassin whose purpose it is to kill ever Altmer in game. Its either them or us...

*sigh* In that case we are doomed, Imperial or Stormcloak, the victor will not enjoy their acheivement for very long. Why can''t we just satnd together instead of fighting ourselves?! :banghead:
